banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
I don't know how the tightness stuff works personally but my nutritionist said that most people that are too tight resort to eating just sliders and drinking high calorie fluids. SO, tighter is not necessarily better for weight loss. I don't know if he was just trying to scare us or not. I'm hoping I never to get to the point that I can't eat rice. That is my carb of choice and I haven't had it in over a month. :frown: Denise, do you need/plan on having plastic surgery? That is usually at least 5 more pounds gone.

Hi! I am Christina
Hi Christina! Welcome to the madhouse. There are people here from all over at all different stages of the lapband journey. Click on the big, obnoxious banner in my signature for a list of those that had/having surgery in March and the day of the surgery. You can see who had surgery the same day as you.

What was your "That's it" Moment?
I had been researching WLS for a few years but it was a midlife crisis with my 45th birthday approaching that prompted me to get the process started. Exactly a week after my first consult, I had a couple of "minor" heart attacks and that point I knew it was the right decision at the right time.

Normal pain post-op??
Congrats on your surgery! I wouldn't worry about any pains as long as the they are tolerable. Just keep walking and drinking water and everything will get back to normal soon. I had a huge bruise and a little aching near the site where they injected me with the blood thinner. Could that be causing it? Good luck and welcome to Bandland!

Another (slightly nervous) soon-to-be bandit
Welcome aboard Dr Bec! Congrats on your decision and I hope all goes well! I don't think you should hide the fact that you are having surgery. If anything, you are being realistic. People don't think of doctors as some kind of invulnerable gods. We know you have the same physiology as the rest of us. If it's of any comfort, there are many bandsters with medical professions that post here. Nurses, doctors, technicians, etc...

Happy Friday everyone!! Elfie, don't feel bad about not mentioning me. I don't care. You just ruined my entire weekend. :frown: Congrats Leigha!! I finally hit the 100 pound loss mark this morning and am not excited. I'm happy but not excited. Something is definitely wrong with me. I think I am afraid if I get excited I will wake up and realize it's just a dream or go out and Celebrate with 25 or 50 boneless wings at Bdubs. PS. I didn't cheat by getting sick. :frown:

Propaganda emails
The lefties lied and exaggerated about W for 8 years. Why should Obama be immune? :blushing:

Day 2 of pre-op diet and HUNGRY!
You may want to start a new thread with diabetes in the title. That way you will have a better chance of getting replies. Somebody was talking about getting sugar from tubes of glucose or cake frosting yesterday.

very BLOATED!!!!!
My muscles were all achy or day 3. The next day I woke up feeling great. I think that is the final IV fluid leaving your body.

Just had Lap Band 3 days ago
Same here and I am 9 days post-op. I have a bad habit of swallowing air to make myself belch and it just ain't working. I am farting up a storm though. :blushing: Good luck!

Big time plateau
Great advice! Also, I don't think anyone goes from top weight to goal without a prolonged plateau or 2 in the middle. It is part of the weight loss journey. It is frustrating but I am determined that when mine hits I will grin and bear it. Good luck!!!

Stuck, did someone say STUCKED!
Broccoli is disgusting and nobody should ever eat it! Thank you for warning others of the evils of broccoli. The fact that it taste like dirty feet doesn't seem to be enough to keep them away.

Kary, you have to walk a lot. It will keep the blood moving and help get the gas out of you system.

Biggest Loser 2010
The embedded commercials are obnoxious; sometimes funny but they work! It's usually Bob saying something like he is the only one that knows about it, then the gang looks at him with awe as if to think a collective, "Wow!" They actually got me to buy a Bodybugg and I love it. This week Bob was pushing Biggest Loser Protein 2Go mix in single serving packages and I am thinking about checking it out. Jared sold me on Subway long before TBL

Hello! I am new to the site.
I never had any actual pain. The gas was gone in less than 3 days. No indigestion at all either. What are you eating that may be causing it? I was on liquids for a week after surgery. My surgeon has me taking Pilosec for 30 days starting the night before surgery. So, I am having no problem heartburn.

very BLOATED!!!!!
I was completely back to normal in less than 3 days. I'd call your surgeon's office just for piece of mind. It's probably fine but the phone call can't hurt.

Will I qualify for lap band?
Thanks Denise. That is exactly what I was talking about and for the record, I NEVER said she didn't qualify.
-
Sorry! But I have to ask....BM's
Don't even think about it. It's only been a couple of days. I was 4 days in between craps even before I started this. If you reach 5 or 6 days, try a laxative.
