Do you believe in a god or gods?
Oh for god's sake [sic]. Let us pretend that Jesus Christ actually existed. If so, he was a cross-dressing hippie that hung out with a bunch of guys his entire life. That doesn't sound like a heterosexual male to me.

Just looking for an excuse to brag
Thanks all!! I am thinking about faking my own disappearance so this picture will be all over the news

Just looking for an excuse to brag
Five months since surgery and almost 11 since I started the process. My weight has been bouncing around between 220 and 223 for about a month. Go figure, my next mini goal is 219 (99 K). I still have my eye on 170 but if I never lose another pound my competitive side may be a little disappointed but the rest of me is ecstatic about what I have achieved. * I am sucking in my gut and the bathing suit hides the dolap but we should all be afforded a little cheating.

Myapologies!! I fixed the quoting. I'd hate it if hateful diatribe like that was attributed to me.

Who does sodomy between two consenting adults hurt? What gives you the right to tell sodomites that they shouldn't be able to enjoy themselves any way that they see fit? The days of using an ancient fairy tale to justify your hate and discrimination are over.

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Melody, I overlooked this when you first posted. Perhaps it was subconsciously because I don't know what I'll do when I lose my kids. They are literally the only family I have here. Congratulations on having the strength to throw out that poison! It is liquor that I turn to in times of trouble and it takes a lot for me to put the bottle down. As hard as it is, I'd try and replace her immediately. You have to get back into your good habits like walking the dog. Good luck! Bob

Need some encouragement
The secret is to keep a positive attitude and not let yourself get unmotivated. Be happy with your progress no matter how slow. Progress is progress. Try not to set time driven goals if you will get depressed if you don't meet them. Do not compare yourself to others. We are all very different people. Think about how much better you feel emotionally and physically now as compared to before surgery.

Christie, were you lucky enough to be able to give him any injections or draw blood? Karen, Thanks! To be honest, if I never lost another pound; my competitive side would be a little disappointed but the rest of me is happy with what I have accomplished.

To much to fast??
Congrats!! There is no such thing as losing too fast; too slow or just right. This isn't Goldilocks and the 3 pounds. You lose what you lose when you lose it and you be happy. As long as you are getting the nutrient and water you need. That is all that matters.

face book bandits
I'm triegerb@verizon.net on Facebook. I also have a private group set up for LapBandTalk. It isn't very active, perhaps we can merge the two. Welcome to Facebook

Good for you!! A few of us have commented on how you don't look like you need to lose any more. You look great!!

Comment to me with your thoughts!
The lapband should not determine frequency and intensity. Over all health should be the key factor. I was told I could walk or run immediately after surgery but to hold off on anything strenuous for 6 weeks. Other than being told never to do old-fashioned sit ups I was given the green light to do any exercises I was up to doing.

Kathy's first goal reached: Low 200s (184 pounds lost in 23 months)
Congrats!!! I was impressed by your weight loss 50 pounds ago. I am astounded now and have no doubts you can hit your goal. It's all about attitude and you have it!! It's stories like yours that ensure the rest of us that our goals are possible. PS. you look 15 to 20 years younger than before!

How do I get the Weight tracker into profile
Are you referring to this "forum" or the actual "blogs" on this site? There is a difference. There are many of us who would like nothing better than to be able to help you. If you post specific questions it makes it a lot easier to answer. The only stupid question is that which goes unasked. That link I posted earlier has step by step directions and pictures showing how to create a weight loss ticker AND apply it to your signature.

Vacation -- Not sure what to do??
You'll be fine. Vacations are about spending time with your family and enjoying yourself. The band requires no major changes to your life except how much you eat. Eating should not be a major consideration. Just order an appetizer; kid's meal; split a meal or get a full meal. Stop eating when you are no longer hungry no matter which option you take.
-
When did you see the difference?
Been there, done that. I joined the army at 17 at about 200 pounds. After 16 weeks of basic training and schooling I was at about 165. Everyone saw the difference and commended me but inside I was still the fat kid. Five years later at 23 years old, I was discharged weighing in at a svelt 178. I was still rebellious. I ate and drank to my hearts desire because nobody could tell me not to. Exercise? Screw that! I don't have to any more. Twenty-one years later, I was 365 pounds and laying in a hospital bed having just undergone stent placement because I had 2 blocked coronary arteries that caused a heart attack. Best damned thing that ever happened to me!! Ten months later, I am 220 pounds and in better shape than I can recall. That fat kid finally grew up. I'm a new man at 45. That being said, if I can do it anybody can. Look hard and find the difference in yourself. It helps when others mention it but in the end, you are the only one that matters and if you don't feel the difference it won't matter. Go grab a camera; strip down to you shorts and take a picture of yourself. Nobody ever has to see this picture but you. As your weight loss progresses, keep taking pictures and compare them to that picture.

banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
Denise, It's not mine. I did PF Chang 3 weeks ago and my loss stopped as well. I have been bouncing back and forth from 220 to 223. 219 is my next goal and it is taunting me. Don't let it get you down, I'm not. There is plenty of evidence showing that weight loss is more prevalent during the colder seasons. Stacie, I have had no pain whatsoever from my port or any of my incision. It's worth a call to your surgeon. Leigha, my diet is liquids only and meant for binging, not every day use.

Terrified!!!!
The previous responders have done a great job giving you the details. So, I'll be brief. 1. Loose skin may be a bit of an eyesore but morbid obesity is downright repulsive and unhealthy. Surgery can take care of the loose skin after you've lost the weight if it bothers you that much. 2. You can't take out a restraining order and you're not likely to find a shelter where you can hide away from food forever. You're going to have to make compromises with food so you can both live together. If it starts abusing you, get out of there and go for a walk. You can return after you've both calmed down. 3. Wrinkles? Honey, everyone gets them. Stay out of the sun and don't smoke. That will slow their progress a little. 4. Most of us feel no pain from surgery. Sure, there's a little discomfort with gas which some blow out of proportion but they are just crybabies. I hope this helps. If not, I had fun typing it. Good luck.

Had my first appt. with Nutritionist--excited
Go Rangers!! I hate most vegetables with a passion and lost 145 pounds in the past 10 months. Vegetables taste like dirty feet and are highly overrated. There are plenty of fat people here that love veggies and look what good they did for them. Increase your exercise and decrease your eating and you'll do fine. Cruises are about relaxing. Use the time you would have used at the buffet spending quality time with family and friends. Good luck!!

Fills done by patient at home
I don't think it is too much worse than people that tattoo or pierce themselves at home and that happens every day. I wouldn't do but I wouldn't get tattooed or pierced either.
