3 days into the Pre - Op diet
btrieger replied to Countrychic's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks but don't be impressed until I can actually keep it off. I'm sure that you and everyone else reading this could lose the weight if they put their mind to it. Unfortunately, if you are like me, you run out of steam or lose your train of thought without noticing and gain it back. This is going to be my third time losing over 100 pounds and the previous 2 times I gained it back even faster than I lost it with interest. That is so much more depressing than never having lost it at all. Hopefully if the band doesn't prevent me from gaining it all back, it will at least slow down my weight gain enough so I have time to notice and I can turn things around before gaining it all back. -
banded, banding, bands--verb--To assemble or unite in a group
btrieger replied to LeighaMason's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good news: I'm finally going to be banded on Tuesday and I'll be a full-fledged member of the club, not just a pledge any more. Bad news: I wanted to drop 100 pounds before banding and it is looking like it will only be between 93 and 95 pounds. No more people telling me that my advice is bad because I am not banded. Now they'll have to tell me that I don't know anything because I haven't had a fill yet. Knowledge is a bad thing in some people's hands. I can't wait to be stuck; slime and BP. I am sick of hearing about it, I need to do it! -
I'm curious again. This usually gets me in trouble.

Carmen, I'll trade with you. :wink2:

The lapband guide that my surgeon gave me at my pre-op appointment is only about 20 pages and I think it says that women should get 50 and men 63 grams of Protein at least 30 times throughout the booklet. So, I think the answer is 50 as Denise mentioned.

Going on a cruise in July, would Dr. lossen band for just that week ?
btrieger replied to robin32470's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just wanted to weigh in with the majority. It would defeat the purpose of being banded in the first place. -
Almost 58, is it too late for me?
btrieger replied to Froggie D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 45 and pretty compared to a lot of the folks here. I'd bet that at least 10% of the people here are 50+ -
Pre-Op - how long and success??
btrieger replied to breesue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There was a bit of animosity over this earlier this week. We definitely need a better word than "cheating" to describe a little nibble outside of a diet. -
Hi Pam, I realize I am a month late with this but there are hundreds of batriatric surgeons 30 miles south of Denton in the DFW metroplex. Click this link: LapBandTalk.com - LapBand Surgeon Search and plug in your zip code.

99 Pounds of Fat on the Wall?
btrieger replied to Cingulus's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just figured out that I may be "Brian". Thanks!! The "B" is actually for "Bob" but I have been called much worse than Brian... within the past hour or so. :cursing: -
3 days into the Pre - Op diet
btrieger replied to Countrychic's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have been doing nothing but Optifast shakes for 20 days now and have not been hungry at all. I refuse to think of hunger or what I am not eating. I am focused solely on the end result and it is working. It helps that Optifast is delicious! It will get easier, just keep your eye on the prize! -
Congrats!! To be honest I have no clue what all those size numbers are all about because we (men) measure our clothing by how many Xs come before the L. But it sounds like a really good thing and I'm happy for you!! Don't go too crazy buying clothes that will be too big for you in a week or two.

Congrats and good luck!! May will be here in no time. September to March flew by like it was a few hours for me.

Pre-Op - how long and success??
btrieger replied to breesue's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre-op diet was supposed to be a month long but because my surgery date moved a couple of times; it ended up being only 22 days. Today is day 20. I am drinking only Optifast shakes and don't mind. I've lost 16 pounds during pre-op so far and have not been hungry at all. I have not and will not cheat because I am stubborn and the only person I'd be cheating is myself. -
Started Liquid Diet Today!! Yahoo!!
btrieger replied to tsmrdh's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats!! The time will fly by and you will be excited about how much weight you'll drop in the next 14 days. -
Losing Toooo much weight on 6 month diet
btrieger commented on losethemess's blog entry in Blog 82394
Congrats on the weight loss. I asked my surgeon's office which weight they send to insurance company at least a half dozen times. Each time I got the same answer; the starting weight. I am having surgery on Tuesday and will be down about 95 pounds from the time I started this journey. Check with your surgeon's office to make sure it is the starting weight that counts and then lose what you can. Don't sit around stuffing your face until it is pre-op time and then complain that it is so hard because you didn't practice for it. -
March 2010 only please
btrieger replied to btrieger's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Thanks! For those who didn't notice, you can click the number in the third column or here: LAP-BAND To see who is having surgery on what day. -
Getting banded on Monday and freaking out!!
btrieger replied to wannababy2's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't agree with this at all. Most of us can and have lost weight on our own but fail to keep it off. I also think that if you don't have the willpower to lose some weight on your own, you may lack the discipline required to make the lapband work successfully. -
March 2010 only please
btrieger replied to btrieger's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
It's not our fault that the February 2008 people didn't make a poll to keep score. :cursing: -
Spring into March 2010 Bandsters

Check in here: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f22472/march-2010-only-please-110733/ and select your surgery date. This way we can keep all the Marchies and their surgery dates straight. -
Been drinking just Optifast shakes for 19 days now and am down 16 pounds since I started. I drink 5 a day. One every 3 hours and I haven't been hungry. Look out if you are prone to constipation though. It makes for some rock hard turds. Where are you moving to in Dallas?

I think that just turns it off for new threads. To shut it off for ones you are already subscribed to; go here: LAP-BAND Check the box under notification; got to the bottom of the page and select "no e-mail" -

When in doubt there are signs to let you know
btrieger replied to loserbob's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's only a week Bob and it will fly by. I was supposed to be banded in January and an extra 6 or 7 weeks didn't hurt. -
Thanks!!! That is comforting.
