  1. Best wishes to those being banded this week. I am on my 4th day post op and doing great! I even had a hernia repaired and am still feeling wonderful. I took a long walk yesterday and only have a little soreness. I will say a prayer for all of you during the coming week. Good luck and soon you'll all be Baby Bandsters!!!
  2. I am eating applesauce and a little greek yogart here and there. I use the applesauce to take my crushed pills. The doc's office said to mix them with water but that tasted sooooooooo bad that I almost puked. So I tried the applesauce and it was better. I did have all the fluid removed from my band though due to nausea. It seems to be fine with me but everyone's different.
  3. I am home now and well. Better now than I was in the hospital. I did gain 4 lbs. from the IV fluid. Has any one else experienced this? It freaked me out. The doctor's office called and I asked about it. They said that it's from the fluid. I hardly ate anything at the hospital. What's up with that?
  4. Well, I'm off to the hospital! Boy, am I thirsty and my surgery isn't until 12 noon. But they will start the IV at around 10:30. I'm starting to get a headache. But I'm keeping my trusty chapstick with me at all times...lol. Wish me luck and I'll post as soon as I can!!!
  5. Tomorrow is my day!! The first day of the rest of my (long) life! After three I can only have clear liquids and after midnight nothing!! My husband is finally being supportive. I knew he'd come around!!! Any last words of wisdom?
  6. Best wishes to those being banded tomorrow!!! I have 3 more sleeps until it's my turn. Can't wait. The anticipation is killing me! I went to a GNC store and got some protein powder with low carbs but haven't tried it. I also bought Isopure Zero Carb that has 40 grams of protein. They were $4.00 a piece! So, I haven't opened one yet. But I was reading earlier that they taste nasty! The person who wrote that also said that they did get their protein in though and had energy because of it. So, I'm going to grin and bear it! I might pick up some of that Carnation Instant Breakfast stuff for hot choc. though. I still have to buy Jello and Greek Yogart. But besides that I'm ready. Oh! I have to pack. But let's get this puppy rolling.....I've been ready!!!
  7. I am in SoCal too. My doc is Doctor Oliak. Who is yours? I'm being banded on the 16th.
  8. My day is coming too! I'm on the 16th. I have a lot of anxiety (by nature any way) but right now I am very anxious. Can't wait for it to just be over! I will probably regret saying that. I have gotten used to the hunger. I chew a lot of sugar free gum. Did I mention that I had to quit smoking too? Wed., the date of my surgery it will be 5 weeks since my last cig!! My doctor required that I quit. Welcome to all the newcomers and good luck everyone having surgery this week. Keep us posted!!!
  9. One week from today I'll be banded!!! Best wishes to those going in tomorrow. Keep us posted. I filled my scripts this a.m. He prescribed Liquid Phenergen for the nausea. I was glad to hear it as many of you are sick to your stomachs. He said that the pain killers will nauseate you. Good to know. I set my bedside up with all my meds, chapstick, my IPod, my book and I went shopping for new PJs. I also bought a new robe for myself. Can't wait to enter bandland. Abby- The Carbonxyhemoglobin test was just a regular bloodtest, not a blood gas. Thank goodness. I hate those!
  10. Mel, I'm right there with ya!!! I, too, am on two shakes a day and one meal and I am STARVING! Although, the last day or two haven't been as bad as the previous days. Now, in the a.m. I'm not nearly as starving and I wait as long as I can to have that shake. I also bought low fat cottage cheese and boiled some eggs for snacks. But you're right. This Preop diet is horrible!!! At least we suffer together!
  11. My doc makes us where a waist band around that area for one week. He does something special inside with mesh that grows to the stomach wall. It's not stiched at all!!! He sounds like a really good surgeon. He was on The View once!!!
  12. It's good to hear about the hunger thing. I can't wait until I'm not wanting food so much any more. Glad to hear you're up and about so soon.
  13. Congrats and Welcome kimr! Hope everything goes well for you tomorrow. I have my Preop tomorrow and am not being banded until the 22nd. I will say a little prayer for you and the rest to be banded tomorrow!! Best wishes!
  14. My husband continues to question my decision but I am going through with this either way (Dec. 22nd). He thinks I'll freak out by the "new" way I have to eat and want them to take it out! My insurance is paying the whole bill too but he just doesn't want this for me. Too bad! I'm doing it. Of course, he will take me to the hospital and hold my hand but he's fighting me the to the end!! Best wishes to you!
  15. Jacqui, I love your attitude. Thanks for that post and writing all that out. Us future bandsters really appreciate writings like that! Bravo!!! :wink2:
  16. I, too, am being verrrrry careful. I go for my Preop class on Monday and it's with a group. Hope no one is sick. I feel like wearing a mask....and gloves...lol
  17. Mandze- I will go on Monday for 3-4 hours and meet with the nutritionist, doctor and more. Bloodwork was today and went fine (accept they took 6 viles), and EKG. Sorry you had such a bad experience. Best wishes to everyone going tomorrow!!! My prayers are with you all!!
  18. Best wishes and hugs to kslessar, KarynA, cent, juke, syly14, NurseRachel, MyOldSelfBack, 1skinnychick, Razorgirl, mkmelissag on your surgery tomorrow. Tomorrow is the first day of the rest of your life!!! Let us know as soon as you can how it went. Hugs and prayers to you.
  19. I've heard it takes many fills to get to your "sweet spot" or the "green zone". They take it slowly, at least with my doctor. I've heard it can take 5-6 fills before you really feel the correct restriction. That way they can tell what's just right for you.
  20. Congrats to Austro!! You did it! You're a Baby Bandster! I was going to tell you to tell the doctor about your anxiety. They come in an give you a "cocktail" of yummy stuff that makes your anxiety go right away. But it's over and you're banded!! Yeah!
  21. Best wishes Suzy and to all being banded tomorrow. I feel like the wait has been so long for me and now I see all you baby bandsters out there. I'm jealous!!! lol Take care and I'll be praying!!!
  22. Wow! My computer was down for one day and I had 4 pages to read!! And people are now banded!!! Yeah for all of you. Hearing your experiences has made my mind at ease (a little)...lol...Prayers and hugs to all who are going tomorrow. My preop EKG and bloodwork are tomorrow and as of today I've been smoke free for 3 weeks! Can you believe it? How time flies. ps. I've started a thread in Post Op called December Delights2009.
  23. December Delights is the winner. How does that sound for a name and My Best Christmas Present Ever as a motto? I'll be starting a new thread entitled December Delights for us in Post Op. Be sure to post there too to keep the thread at the top. Best Wishes to all new Baby Bandsters!!!
  24. Last Day to Vote in our Poll! It closes at 5. Pick your favorite! I believe it will be December Delights with our motto being My Best Christmas Present Ever. How does that sound to everyone?
  25. Michelle, My husband saw my list and asked, "Do you really look around the room to see if you are the heaviest person?" We have been married 20 years and never knew that about me. lol
