    Chinese Food

Thanks SO much Kiz... I'll pick some up today. So the enzymes break down the egg white slime? What IS that anyway... it it something the body produces post op to help slide the food thru? I find I tend to urp up just slime very often and until some of these posts... thought it was just me. SO glad I got on again! I have lots of problems with the slime so if these help it will be a godsend!

    stuck

I've found my body will only drop in chunks every 3-4 weeks for some reason...my body has changed. I was told by my trainer I needed to take in at least my bmr calories per day and burn down from there... not doing that since it's in contrast to my dr's orders. I did get a fitness assessment though and that bmr (basil metabollic rate)was much lower than i thought. I also got myself a polar watch to watch where I am on my burn and track it and it's helping a bit... at least it keeps me honest. I too track everything I eat on a site (so many). We just all lose at different rates and everything effects it -sodium, stress, lack of sleep etc. Just keep plugging away and it will come off- slow but steady.

How much weight did u lose b4 .....

I too was a life dieter so had clothes from 22 thru 16's so I am still ok'.. but at the end after these are gone and I feel the same way about paying for new clothes that- hopefull- I won't be in long. I have every intention of hitting the good will store and doing some shopping and maybe a consignment shop or 2. I just brought 12 jumbo garbage bags full of clothes to good will myself. The things I have to pay to get new are panties and bra's and I have an especially hard time paying for those for short term use...but do buy those new. Thankfully there's and outlet mall right by my house and I have been leaning towards the sports bra types of bras since they seem to last me a bit longer while still being supportive. At least I'll get a huge tax break for my clothes donated for this next year! PS. I was SO happy when I hit a 16.. I did the same modeling thing with my husband. He was so proud of me he dragged me to the store for upscale work out togs. I told him I didn't want to spend the money on them but he said I deserved and and insisted. I am SO glad he did... I feel like such a jock now in my work out clothes...all color coordinated and fitting right... that I leap out of bed raring to go work out vs. rolling out and going with the obligatory feeling! Getting some new clothes is SO worth it... that pair of 16 jeans (even if they were 16W) made me feel pretty hot... and I don't care if to most I am not... I felt that way...and it was SO worth it!

    September 2009 Band Date List

sorry, can't figure out how to cut and paste on this laptop but I'M 9/2 banded. can't figure out my ticker either! but down 54#total... 14 preop and 40 postop.
  11. thinin10

    How much have you lost?

I was banded on 9/2 and just his the 54# mark but only 40 of that is post op so I'm right where you are. I feel a bit slow on wt.loss but am getting better about being ok with it. I work out hard... I do 4.5-6 hrs. per week with 4.5 more the avg. and burn 1.5k to 1.9k in calories per week avg. for a net of about 7-900 calories per day and so I just don't see myself being able to do more. I go for 3 wks. without losing and then will drop 4-6# all at once and have been doing that almost since surgery. I am, however, losing inches. I am starting to like the way my body looks and feels more so I'm getting much better about ignoring the scale. I also just cleaned out my closet and brought 12 bags of clothes to the good Will ... it felt GREAT! I have a bench in my closet and every time something gets a bit loose, from a bra or panties on out.. it goes into the takeaway pile. I won't give myself and excuse to get back into bigger clothes! I just keep putting 1 foot in front of the other and doing my best every day. We also all have very different metabolisms that effect calorie burn. If mine were any slower I'd be in hibranation...apparently I was built for survival... not speed! I had a fitness eval. that showed my basil metobolic rate and it was about 500 calories per day lower than the charts had indicated... so that gave me a better idea on why I was not losing as fast as I had thought I should be and although it sucks... it actually made me feel better knowing that I was doing really well each week based on that. Now I have a new goal of trying to raise that metabollic burn rate and have adjusted my workouts accordingly... less level 3 push and more muscle building and endurance vs. the hard fast calorie burn activities...Wish me luck! I think maybe we all go into this thinking we're going to lose faster and setting our expectations a bit too high and have to do some adjusting. I had a goal of 12# per month for 3 months then 10# a month for the next 9 months.. RIGHT! I'll avg.about 1/2 that... but that's ok too....just took some adjustment and getting over the initial let down feeling. You're doing great and from what I'm seeing in the inperson group I go to... we're in the upper end of the long term averages for women.

    issues with bread

I"m like most of the rest... crust is ok but even toast is a problem... rarely I can get a piece of good crusty french bread down.. but for the most part... bread, cake, doughnuts...anything that can "glump" is a thing of the past. I've taken to using pieces of endive lettuce and putting my tuna on it in lieu of a sandwich and have to say I LOVE it. My husband is doing it now too... and he is thin!

    Chinese Food

I've have a lot of trouble with the big pieces of veggie in stir fry unfortunatly and completly gave up on chicken...unless it's ground or chopped it's not going to stay down. I am ok with stir fry if I do tofu and am super careful with chewing on the veggies....onions can be a problem... hard to pulverize before swollowing. I am the same as you... I feel stuck very easily and within a few bites...as soon as that 1st swollow hit's my port and tries to go thru. So was it Kit that mentioned some chewables that help. I am a huge trader joe fan but am not familiar with what the pills do and how fast they work... can you filll me in. I'm heading there this afternoon and if they'd keep me from embarassing situations at lunch I'd love it. I have to lunch with clients and have taken to ordering Soup or getting a tuna sand and picking at the sandwich fillings only... when feeling brave... to avoid sticking. even tuna is an issue at times. I try to not show it but it must show in my face since often somebody will ask me if I'm ok. I say fine and excuse myself and go releive myself of my lunch... hence soup these days... and that is not a good long term alternative.

    Calling all snails...

I am so glad you mentioned the slime thing. What IS that. I urp a LOT...think I'm a bit too tight but ok with that part right now but...1/2 the time I urp up slime- sometimes it's like a raw egg white.. that dense and large. Does the body just produce more mucus to help digest? I have noticed though... If I get in a lot of water in- that I don't tend to get "stuck"as easily. I also think sometimes I think I'm stuck when actually I'm full and the food is just passing...frankly I never feel comfortable when the food is passing... at a minimum it feels like it does when the dr.reaspirates me during a fill.. that bizzare tickle tummy feeling- roller coaster feel. Is anybody else experiencing that?

    how many CCs?

I had 4 at the time of surg. and then 6 wks post op we did 3 all at once.. BIG mistake for me. I couldn't even get down water it hurt so bad... woke myself up puking and had to go like that for 2 days til they could unfill 1 cc. I was dehydrated, sore and very scared by then. That 1cc was put back in 4 weeks after that 1st fill. So although they have put in 7cc's, they can only re-aspirate 5 of them.. so I read like I have 5cc in and I think I am still a bit too tight but ok with that. I think this is as much as I will ever have in at a time. I still can't eat a lot of meat unless it's ground meat and 1-1.5C of soft food is as much as I can take in at a time and often urp up anything over 1/2C on truely solid foods. Everybody is SO different..it is very much a personal thing. I saw another woman on here who hit her sweet spot at 4cc that were put in at the time of surg. so no actual fills post op .. and she was doing great. By the way... I am a 10cc band.
