Go for the Sleeve! I have a band as well and currently looking into Sleeve. The thought of losing part of my stomach makes me nervous as well, but from what I read after a year you feel more "normal" and you adjust to your new stomach. I sort of think us banders have a leg up since we know what its like to eat smaller portions already I really wish my band has worked for me Its heartbreaking thinking about failing again- Upset Stomach :(
It probably is, I guess for me my first thought was call your surgeon when you said there was nausea. Throwing up post-op can do a number on your new stomach. I hope you're ok! Keep us updated!- Sleeve & Weight Watchers
Thanks! I will look up that site. I feel like I DO need to diet after surgery or I will go back to my old ways. I currently have a Lapband and want the Sleeve. I do plan on getting therapy to help with this, but I am pretty disciplined when I do keep track and see a "you went over your daily calorie budget" its a wake up call.- Upset Stomach :(
I would. I use to work for Bariatric surgeons... and got phone calls like this all the time. I would say "I am 8 weeks out and am concerned about this stomach ache" then they can keep it in your records as well. It may just be a bug, but never hurts to let your surgeon know youre concerned. Were you sleeved in the US?- Upset Stomach :(
Call your surgeon- Sleeve & Weight Watchers
Haha, yeah thats make sense. I just have a real fear of regaining after a year if I am not on a strict plan. Sometimes I can really convince myself something doesnt have THAT many calories...- Sleeve & Weight Watchers
I was curious if anyone uses Weight Watchers with their Sleeve to keep track of their food and make better choices?- How And When To Tell Someone Your Having Surgery..
Once you tell, you can't untell. Id only tell a few people... Never know what could happen down the road! I told many about my Lapband, when I gained my weight back I felt such shame. This time around I'm only telling 4 people.- Seattle, Washington anyone?
Hello Hello- I am currently looking into the Sleeve, I have had my Lapband for 6 years with little success. I would hope to stay local but it may be too expensive. Has anyone bought insurance to cover sleeve?- Any Seattle Wa Doctor Recommendations?
Dr. Michaelson in Everett. He is AMAZING!- So Happy
You look great! *jealous!*- Cost Of Band To Vsg?
I am in Seattle, WA Got a quote for 22k locally... ouch! I considered a surgeon is Florida for $15k but with travel expenses not sure if it worth it. How much have you been quoted? I want to stay in the US...- Dumping And Sliming... Ugh
I've read that Sleevers don't get dumping syndrome :/ Sounds like what I read was wrong... Why does this happen with the sleeve?- Had A Bad Week... Can't Stop Eating... :(
Please see a counsler, sometimes its beyond our own control. I have a lapband and I am currently looking into Sleeve. I wish I had seen a counsler for food addiction before I gave up on my band and ate whatever made me feel better in the moment. It will help you in the long run!- Discouraged
Make sure you ask your surgeon how he handles emergencies... my doctor is available to me 24/7- Ok Ladies I Have To Know.....
I miss getting waxed! I can't wait to be able to book that first appointment! I became way too embarrssed after I gained weight. Shaving sux! I highly recommend all ladies try a bikini wax, go brazilian if you're adventurous! I am middle the road and get a landing strip!- Fighting Head Hunger...
- Fighting Head Hunger...
That's amazing! Ive had my Lapband since 2007- so scared of failing again! My friend has the sleeve and said it cured her food addiction!- Fighting Head Hunger...
Lollyfide: I haven't been sleeved yet... Do you ever feel hungry though? I am so scared I'll get sleeved and still struggle with head hunger and not lose weight- What Triggers The Eating Habits That Got Us Here
It's so good to hear that the sleeve helps with emotional eating! This was one of my fears... My Lapband never helped me with that (besides throwing up). Thanks for the tip!- Lapband To Sleeve- Have Some Questions :)
I ask about Sleeve with band because they perform plication with band. I was curious why they didn't do this with the sleeve... some people mention they don't feel full with the sleeve or weight gain. I always felt like my band didn't work like it should because my upper pouch would fill and then my lower stomach would still be "hungry". search "failed sleeve" or "weight gain after sleeve" you'll see lots of people mention they were revisions. Also- my surgeon lets you choose the size of your sleeve.- Lapband To Sleeve- Have Some Questions :)
I have had my lapband since 2005. My starting weight was 230, my lowest weight was 174 (lasted about a month) and now I am at 265! My band is unfilled because I never felt full. I just felt pain when I ate (unless it was soft foods or liquids)...this was no way to live. I had a unfill and found out my port is tilted (most painful adjustment ever!!). I really want to lose weight and live a fuller life! I have been researching the sleeve and am hoping it will work for me! Any help with these questions is MUCH appreciated! -I read a lot of people saying sleeve doesnt work after having a lapband :/ is this true? I am SO scared of making a wrong choice -Is it possible to have a band and sleeve? -Why do more surgeons not offer the "net" around the stomach to help prevent stretching? -Weight loss aside; are you able to drink a small amount of alcohol (like a glass or two of wine)? -Do you feel like you get enough energy from what you eat? -Do you find yourself craving carbs or did the sleeve help kill that “I gotta have some bread and butter!!!”. Because even when I stuff myself with other foods, I still have that mental “but you didn’t have what you really wanted” feeling. -Since this is removing some of the stomach, do you feel like some surgeons are better than others? Like it’s an art? I am curious why some people fail and some succeed. Could it be the surgeons don’t remove enough stomach or do it wrong? I also ask this because I would consider going out of state (not out of country for a surgeon more experienced with lapband to sleeve. -Do you believe WLS is like breast implants, where you should prepare yourself that you may need to have “maintenance” done on it? Whether that be revision or additional surgery to correct complications? I explained to my boyfriend I always knew it was a possibility that I may need my band fixed or removed because I saw many patients with slips and port issues. -Can someone have the sleeve done 2x if they gain weight back? -My lapband surgeon is charging 22k for band removal to sleeve. Expensive! I already paid 19k out of pocket for my lapband, and it didn't work out. And I REALLY did try. This would be a 41k investment-- sigh. Many of my question stem from my fail with my lapband. Thank you for everyones replies... I have read this site over for days and finally wanted to post!- New! Please help with basic questions
Hi! I have the Lap Band (since July 2005) and just found out about Total Vertical Sleeve Plication. I would like to know what this is exactly? How much does it cost? How does it compare to the band? Anyone do the switch to this from the band? Do you get stuck on foods? I lost about 30pounds with my band, and gained it back I have had several adjustments but I cant get this weight off without being stuck all the time on food. Emotionally, it was has been draining, to say the least! I was looking at other surgery options but they made me nervous, this sounds like a better idea since it is reversible. Thank you! - Considering A Revision
