  1. Sleeve for both, dumping syndrome sucks! I'm not willing to trade in my thick thighs for bathroom emergencies for the rest of my life. Get the sleeve and work hard! Follow your doctors orders to a T (yes even the Water part and exercise! Commit to no more junk food or bored eating) MAKE it work for you, YOU are worth it!
  2. Officially will never go to Mexico for surgery. Wow- so sorry to hear about this. Get back home to see another doctor ASAP
  3. Can anyone tell me who made this and how accurate it is??
  4. Love this thread. From what I gather bougie size does make a difference... Especially 5+months out from surgery.
  5. I understand your fear! You will be just fine! I was SO scared for my lapband, but you know what helped me? Reminding myself I HAD to do this in order to get better. Just like if I needed pacemaker, it wasn't really elective surgery in my mind, it was mandatory. Recovery wasn't that bad at all! Enjoy laying around and catching up on bad tv! I am nervous for my revision but keep reminding yourself this too shall pass. Good luck and keep us updated.
  6. Typically patients do not get paid for advertisements, I have seen patients in the past receive free lifetime care in exchange. Do not do it if you expect to be paid.
  7. I have a lapband. The adjustments never bothered me, it was that I was STILL hungry all the time. No matter what, I would eat and still be hungry because I could only eat very little and my "lower" pouch was still empty. I originally had it done for 2 reasons my BMI wasn't that high and I liked it was reversible. I never met my goal weight, was ALWAYS hungry even after I ate, but instead of being able to eat I would throw up and slime everything. I basically turned to soft foods (high calorie crap) and alcohol. I've been uncomfortable for years now and am getting a revision. Finally. I can't wait to get the lapband out of me. After working in Bariatrics for 6+ years I can honestly say the Sleeve is the best choice out there for me. The lapband works for some but most surgeons want to phase it out.
  8. I hate to be the buzz kill but I would be super careful with alcohol. I would kick soda and avoid alcohol until you have reached your goal. I know, I know. No fun. When I had my lapband, I was drinking a month after. Totally sabotaged my weight loss and honestly replaced food for a while. Now with my revision I plan on avoiding alcohol, if I go out I plan on ordering Water with lemon- or a virgin drink. A few sips can turn into a whole drink, then 2 drinks... Sounds boring and will be boring, but let me tell you NOTHING sucks more than letting alcohol slow your weight loss. Take advantage of this stage of your surgery, in the start is when you can really drop some serious weight. I have worked in Bariatrics for over 6 years, I've seen hundreds of patients ruin their surgery because of alcohol choices. The last thing you want to do is make alcohol apart of your journey and make it seem "normal", get use to your new life alcohol free, after 9+months (or reaching your goal) of KNOWING how your new stomach works start introducing alcohol. /endbuzzkill.
  9. What is making you second guess it? How much weight are you looking to lose? What are the pros and cons of each procedure to you? I personally do not believe RNY has better long term results. That is my experience from watching my friends.
  10. Once you tell someone you can't untell.
  11. I'm not sure how much this would help, commit to one glass of wine, then finishing one glass of Water before anymore alcohol. If you can't go out without drinking, I'd see a therapist NOW... Before it gets worse. I went through a heavy drinking period, when I talked to my doctor about it she gave me Xanax and Prozac which brought down my drinking by a lot. I have major aniexty and depression- Xanax really helped me.
  12. What is your daily diet like? You look beautiful!
  13. What questions did everyone ask in their consult? Curious what I may have over looked?
  14. I had the same concerns about the Sleeve. I already have been through the Lapband experience and I deal with heart-burn, port pain and worst of all discomfort when eating even though I am super hungry. I think going too small a Sleeve is why people experience heart burn, but not always. Honestly wouldn't you rather have a little heartburn and take some meds instead of dealing with obesity?? This is apart of weighing the pros and cons. My advice to you is to seek out a local surgeon, you do not seem ready to book a flight to Mexico. You need more information and possibly attend some support groups.
  15. Ointments stop the airflow... I would use salt/water until you can talk to your piercer.
  16. I think you will be just fine. Also, take some warm water and salt in a small cup and submerge your piercing, this helps pull the infection out. Ointments aren't that great for piercings.
  17. Did I claim to know everything about it? I have worked in Bariatrics for over 7 years, Plication is a very new procedure- ANYONE uncertain about WLS surgery should know that nothing is guaranteed- INCLUDING Plication being reversible. There is just not enough research for surgeons to tell patients its completely reversible.
  18. Any post-op people from NWWLS on this forum still??
  19. You do know you are on a Sleeve forum right? And you do know no body mentioned that Sleeve was reversible? We are looking for permanent weight loss. Coming on here insulting any SLEEVE patient is pointless. Plication is not reversible, maybe a short time after the procedure but the stomach will eventually grow together making it nearly impossible to safely reverse. So yes, looks like your surgeon skipped over that unfortunately. Please get back to us if you reverse your surgery.
  20. It's not reversible... When you fold your stomach it grows together.
  21. SKIP plication!! Its not reversible! It actually looks more dangerous. I wanted it at first but now think sleeve is way better after lots of research and discussions with top surgeons.
  22. Omg was that US or Mexico!? That's so scary!! Tell them to double you up!!
