  1. Tracy, I tried that with my yoghurt and it's absolutely wonderful! Even DH loves it and we now have it every evening. . .yummmmmmmmmm!
  2. I was oakley, i put my mind to it and just stopped all the sodas. . . I also just stopped rum and cokes (loved those) and since my surgery have not had one craving for sodas or a drink of rum. . .I'm soooooooooooooo happy. . . the mind is a powerful thing and if you REALLY want to stop you can. . . good luck
  3. Congratulations to you! I can totally relate to the light headed and blah feeling, nothing hurts but man do i feel blah. . .i've been doing the vitamin thing, the protein thing, the water thing, and still feel really light headed. . .noticed however my pulse doesn't go over 48 though, could be a problem huh? It was over 76 whenever i was fatter, now that i've lost some weight it's back down to my earlier years. . back when i was younger it never went over 50 . . . lowest in the high 30's, highest in the high 40's . . . probably something to tell the doc about you think?????
  4. Hooray! Welcome sleeve sister! After a couple of days you'll feel brand new. . . then you'll learn how to treat your new tummy and you'll be on you way! This is an interesting journey as you'll see and know that we are all here to help you when you need us! Good luck and remember walk, sip, and walk some more. . .
  5. Motherof4, do I ever know what your talking about that contrast stuff! I wanted to puke so badly with it too. . . it was horrible! I'm so happy your doing well. . I did very well too. . i feel really badly for the folks who are having such a horrible time with this post op. . .it's not fair to them . . welcome to the loser side and keep us posted . . . I go to the 1 1/2 month doctor visit on the 16th. . .i'll weigh at that time to see where i'm at. . . going to be interesting.!
  6. I was on Remeron for a bit, but that head off the shoulders feelings was not for me. . I took myself off it. . never went back to the psch ever again. . . i just dealt with it, and now my depression is gone. . I know not everyone can do that, it's just my story. . .whenever i felt depression coming on, I'd busy myself with something, walking, swimming, gym, yardwork. . . anything. . sure sometimes it didn't work and i'd bawl my eyes out for no good reason, sure did feel good though, I do alot of postive self talk and treat myself med free. . . I was a really badly depressed person at one time, out patient and at one time attempted suicide . . . have been on alot of meds and seen a lot of doctors who, in my opinion, where cashing in on my illness, so I just made a pac with myself to help myself to get better and I have. . . it helped me, but it's not for everyone. . . don't stop your meds or your doctor. . . just sharing a bit about me. . . good luck all. . .
  7. How great is that! You go girl! I knew you could do it. . . Nikki, now I must say "I understand how you feel" a few posts ago you posted you had lost like 85lbs, but couldn't see it. . . I'm feeling the same way now, lots of people are telling me "your fading away" "you've lots tons of weight" but to me, nope I look the same 332 lbs that i started with . . . our brains like to play funny tricks don't they? Now I must also apologize for any comments i said too . . hopefully they were not hurtful or prickly, but at that time I didn't understand. . . I SURE DO NOW!!! :sad0: Good luck to you and keep up the excellant work!
  8. Oh Angel, that is terrible news! I'm so sorry this is happening to you, how depressing. . I can only agree with Carolyn, take the prilosec and pepto. . . my goodness. . go back to basics, try the liquids/mushies again and like she said let your tummy heal. . . good luck, i hope it helps. . .
  9. Angel, try Carolyn's suggestion, I'm going to try that 4oz of Protein everytime it hits. . . should help I hope
  10. Thank you carolyn, I'll try that!
  11. Let me tell you girl! I've been suffering with REAL hunger now for a while and I don't like it. . .it's not head hunger anymore, I don't know why it is, but it's there and causes me to feel nauseated, just like in the old days. . but you know what? I continue to eat my semi solid diet, sip my Water and the occasional broth, and i keep my calories at 500 - 550 no more. . I exercise and REFUSE to have the old ways creep back in. . . I go for my 1 1/2 month weigh in on the 16th and I don't want a dissappointment. . .I wonder if anyone else has been experiencing REAL hunger and not head hunger this early out?????
  12. Bless your heart Mini Me. . was this your first ever surgery? Just a question . . .
  13. Well lets see here, i had my surgery on 12/29/09 and i came out with 6 little incisions, i was only bruised were they had given me my heparin shots (I'm prone to getting blood clots) nothing more, my incisions are healing really well, right now they are pinkish in color, to me it's nothing. . they look relatively the same as when i had my gallbladder out. . those scars are so faded that you REALLY have to hunt for them, these will heal the same way. . . if your a smoker though or diabetic the healing may be different. . I have a very high pain threshold, so i didn't have much pain to talk about. . . the same day of surgery i was up and walking the hallways without difficulty, after all it was my tummy they worked on, not my legs. . .on the second day i was walking 12 lenghts of the hallway without problems and on the 3rd day went home and resumed all activities as usual. . doctor didn't release me back to work for 2 weeks, but that was ok with me. . . gave me a good chance to run errands, pluck weeds in my yard, and clean my house how i like it. . . good luck and i hope this answered some questions you may have had. . .
  14. I don't know if this was discussed before or not, but I'm a month out and am HUNGRY! It's NOT in my head, I stop and listen if it's tummy hunger or head hunger, it's down right tummy hunger:angry:. . . wasn't this supposed to stop? wasn't this the reason i got the surgery? errrrrrr, so irratating. . .but i continue with my semi solid diet and drink my water as usual, no cheating, no extra eating. . .anyone experience this annoying thing?
  15. Hi Grateful, well what i told my hubbie when he threw that comment in my face was "It's really too bad you have no confidence in me, really sad" and left it at that. . he never again has told me anything about my weight. . after he saw how much of my original stomach was going to be gone, i guess he realized that gaining your weight back in nearly impossible. . maybe about 10 lbs or so, but not all 100 + lbs. . . that is impossible I think. . plus after spending so much money, time, and effort who would want to do that? Go figure? Men are so one tracked. . . good luck
  16. You can do it! Like the nik logo states "JUST DO IT" . . . . GOOD LUCK
  17. Thanks cajun, you're probably right! Will do definately! Cause the feeling is amazing, have to walk around alot in order for it to go down. . . stupid me. . . thanks for the advise hon!
  18. Wow, that is pretty darn good if you can eat spicy like that. . . used to be able to eat habeneros myself, but i'm really leary now. . . maybe when i'm a few more months out. . . good for you!~
  19. Horray for DeeDee! Good for you! I refuse to weigh myself, i came home from the surgery on Dec 31 and the first thing i did was throw out my scale. . . i only weigh now at my monthly doctors appt's. . . weird huh? But i can tell on my clothes and that is good enough for me right now. . . I had such horrible luck before my surgery with weight loss and i was hooked on the scale, always weighing myself, i was always dissappointed very much and depressed. When i got my surgery i told myself i will NOT be depressed ever again over a scale, so threw it away. . . hubbie tells me i'm much more pleasant and happy now. . .
  20. Thanks for your post, you sound really happy. . . good for you. . . I'm not an old timer, just had my sleeve on Dec 29th, but let me tell you, the hunger thing is there definately, only it's different, it's like a anchor eating at you not the growlies, but a really bad pressure. . . for example this morning i though that i was going to try 2 eggs instead of my usual one, WELL, am i not paying the price right now. . . i was really " hungry" so i made 2 eggs with low fat cheese omlet . . . probably ate to fast, but only could finish about 1/2 of it and now it feels like the omlet is really trying to crawl up my esphogus and my stomach feels VERY uncomfortable . . . well at least i can't eat tons like before right???? Good luck to you and keep up the excellant work!
  21. tromero, hi I was sleeved on Dec 29th . . . I've done pretty good so far. . . you might want to try what i do . . I only weigh myself when i go to the doctor appts. . . i've gotten rid of my scale at home and definately don't use the one at work. . . i lost 32 lbs the first 2 weeks after surgery and have not weighed myself since. . . my next doctors appt is Feb 16, i'll be weighed then. . . i refuse to become a slave of the scales . . i judge my weight loss through my clothes and how they fit, and compliments from people. . . are you still eating semi soft foods high on protein? Or are you eating whatever? How about exercise?
  22. We are all human and make mistakes, that is why we are here on earth to learn from our mistakes. . . don't feel bad, but maybe you could try "cheating" on healthier snack, sunchips, nuts, dried fruit, gatoraid, etc. . . it's better cheating with healthier Snacks then downright bad snacks. . . just a suggestion. . . good luck
  23. Bambi, welcome to the losers side! So glad your home and doing well. . . and you know things are only going to get better from here on out! Good luck!
  24. Hi Andrea, I too love spicy foods, but (and don't listen to me, it's what my doctor told me to do so I'm just sharing) when i was sleeved i was told not to eat anything else other then mild salsa and only 1 tsp of it. .this is because a sleeved tummy gets ulcers quicker then a normal stomach. . .soooooo, i still eat my curry, masalas, and chili powders in my foods, but not habeneros or jalepenos . . .
  25. Good for you Jenn, what a great accomplishment! You've worked hard and you should celebrate (but not with food, like in the olden days!) Keep up the great job!
