  1. Just in case anyone was using for their protein (like I was!) Englewood Cliffs, NJ, December 3, 2009 - Unilever United States, Inc., in cooperation with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), is conducting a nationwide voluntary recall of all Slim-Fast® ready-to-drink (RTD) products in cans, due to the possibility of contamination with Bacillus cereus, a micro-organism, which may cause diarrhea and possibly nausea and/or vomiting. The probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote. The products were sold in stores nationwide. The products are packaged in paperboard cartons and contain four, six or 12 steel cans that are 11 FL OZ (325 mL) each. Individual cans are also sold in certain retail outlets. The recall involves all Slim-Fast® RTD products in cans, regardless of flavor, Best-By date, lot code or UPC number. A listing of all RTD recalled products is attached to this press release. No other Slim-Fast® products are affected by this recall. No Slim-Fast® powdered shakes, meal bars, or snack bars are affected by this recall. The recall was initiated after the company conducted quality testing on Slim-Fast® RTD products in cans. Out of an abundance of caution, the company is recalling all RTD products in cans that are currently in distribution centers, on-shelf or in back rooms in retail outlets or in consumers’ homes. The company is in the process of identifying and correcting the production issue, and will resume production and shipment of the product when the issue has been addressed and corrected. Consumers who have purchased Slim-Fast® RTD products in cans are urged to discard them immediately and contact the company at 1-800-896-9479 for a full refund. The Consumer Services Center is open Monday – Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM ET. A recorded message is available 24/7.

  3. Thanks for the info. I will try that. I've also got an email in to the nutritionist at the surgeon's office to see what her suggestions would be.
  4. While I appreciate some of the blunt responses, as many people need to be honest with themselves, there are many of us strugglers who are doing EXACTLY what they should be and still not losing. I have not lost an ounce in over a week. I drink my Protein shakes, eat my small meals, avoid empty calories and carbs, log my intake TO A T, and maintain less than 1000 calories a day. I exercise 5 days a week (only cardio right now, as I'm not cleared to do weights yet) and I am exactly where I was at my one week followup. Granted, I have lost 14 pounds in a month, since I began my pre op diet, but 9 of that was the week before surgery, the other 5 in the week following, and not an ounce since. It's a little disheartening to hear people say "It's hard to believe you are doing everything right and not losing" but I AM. It does happen unfortunately. I have faith that it will eventually start coming off, but for those of us that are struggling, it's more upsetting to know we made this huge life changing decision and others that have been there think we aren't trying hard enough.
  5. www.tickerfactory.com just follow the directions, copy and poste the code! :tongue2:
  6. IM two weeks out tomorrow and port pain stinks  Mine is DEAD CENTER, about 6 inches above my belly button, right above my natural waist, so everytime I sit or bend, I feel it. I really think it is not in a good place and may need to be moved.
  7. Soexcited - I'm totally with you! I only had to do one week of pre op and lost 9 pounds. Since surgery (2 weeks tomorrow) I have only lost 6. Well 6 one day. 4 the next. I have been going up and down 1-2 pounds for past week. I realize I have added mushies, but I am still eating under 900 calories a day and exercising.... so I'm not sure why I'm not losing. This is my typical day: 8 AM: Protein shake (160 cal, 15 gr protein) 11AM: 1/4 cup canned chicken w sprinkle shredded cheese or 1/4 cup chili (120 cal, 10-15 gr protein) 3PM: Protein Shake (160 cal, 15 gr protein) 6PM: 1/4 chili or 1/4 cup canned salmon (80-120 cal, 8-10 gr protein) 9PM: protein shake (160 cal, 15 gr protein) That's 710 calories and 60-70 gr of protein. I may have a 1/2 cup of oatmeal or yogurt on mornings when the shake doesnt "do it" for me, so maybe an additional 50 calories.... I think I'm going to email the nurtritionist and see what's going on. Maybe I need to UP my calories....

  9. HEY ALL!!! I am adding and updating the list up to this point for November. I agree with CCWEEKS that we will update in the NOVEMBER 2009 GROUP. There are too many threads to keep track of. I will not be able to update the list weekly, but if you want to post weekly, that is fine. Just make sure you post AT LEAST ONE UPDATE PER MONTH - maybe your "Bandiversary"? Thanks all! If you haven't joined the November group, join now!
  10. So many never agains... - i work in a school, so never again will i squeeze my fat ass into one of those freaking desk, with my "extra boobs" piling over the top - never again will i be embarrassed about what's in my grocery cart and paranoid that everyone is judging my choices.... - never again will i have to go to the "left" (or right) of the door at the clothing store to get to the plus size half - never again will i be "such a pretty face"... knowing they are thinking .... but so fat  - never again will i wear capris all summer in 100 degree weather because i wouldnt dare put on shorts - never again will my son suffer at MY weight. just yesterday I called to set up swim lessons and had to make sure it wasn't a "mommy and me" class first, because if it was, i wasn't doing it. how sad for my son - never again will i be ashamed to do ANYTHING because someone might say something rude in front of a new boyfriend, etc and just make me want to DIE (there are some RUDE freaking people in this world)! - never again will i have to stalk the tables and booths in a restaurant to 1. make sure ill fit at the booth and 2. make sure i can find a semi-direct path that doesnt require my belly and butt rubbing someone else's chair - or worse, having to ask them to "scoot" - never again will i stand all day at a BBQ because I am scared of chairs - listen to that SCARED OF CHAIRS! how pathetic! because i wont fit, they might break, the arms will dig in and my fat will squeeze out, etc - never again will i have to skip the cute shoes because they dont come in "WIDE" - never again will i be ashamed to go to the food table at a party or cookout or whatever because im too ashamed of what people think when they see me up there eating - never again will i be the "fat mom" at my son's activities
  11. Just posting to get this thread back to the front  Keep the info coming!
  12. Hi Knockouts! I'm 9 days out and doing well. Pain is all gone except when I bend over, the port hurts. I'm actually beginning to wonder if it's going to have to be moved. I am high waisted and it's right where I bend... Got moved to mushies on Tuesday, so I was able to have some mashed taters and green Beans on Thanksgiving. Getting the liquids in is much easier now, too. I go Dec 28 for my first fill and should be able to move to regular foods 2 days later. Mushies really do fill me up though, so let's hope tht keeps up for the coming month! Only 3 more days for our fellow Knockouts! Who's left to be banded and how are you doing?
  13. I had to stop aspirin a week before and BC two days before, but started BC back up the day after. Discuss with dr. Doesnt seem there should be such drastic differences.... but when all is said and done, you gotta do as they say...
  14. Hey thre N09K! Today, Day 5, and feeling ok. Pain is just about gone, except a little with coughing, laughing, getting up and down. However, extreme fatigue hit me today. I could barely get off the couch! I'm also starting to get hungry, but a 1/3 cup of cream of chicken soup fills me right up. Doesn't quite "hit the spot" but at least does the trick, you know? Tomorrow is my follow up and I should be moved to mushies. Best of luck to those with surgeries in the coming week!
  15. If you aren't already on the list, please post here! I have a bunch of people posting on a bunch of threads and I can't find them all! haha Just post here and I'll add ya! Each month, I will start a new thread asking for updates and will post by the end of the month. If I miss you in the threads, just PM me or email to the-counselor-is-in@hotmail.com

  18. Hot Toddy, I did a barium swallow after. It's just to make sure stuff can get through ok, that there isn't too much swelling. TOday is Day 4 for me and feeling so much better. They only pain is slight when I am trying to get up and down from couch, etc. Of course, no bending or lifting allowed, but I'm sure that would hurt too! The gas is gone, although I do feel a bit bloated. I am getting all of my liquids in fine (32 oz Protein and 32 oz clear). Because I am getting it all in finally, I am actually feeling full for the first time in weeks... Cetainly no restriction, but at least that sensation is there. I go back on Tuesday for advancement (hopefully!) to mushies. YAY TO ALL MY FELLOW KNOCKOUTS!
  19. Hey FJ! We had same surgery date and same pre-op/post op diets! Hope all is well. I feel kinda sorta normalish today... port very sore, but able to move a bit more. how are you doing?
  20. it seems IMPOSSIBLE to get the liquids in... i feel sooo bloated and full. but i just start sipping as soon as i wake up and sip all day until i go to bed. i'm not hungry at all, but im trying. my first fill won't be until january. 6-8 weeks post surgery
  21. I was on clear liquids just the day of surgery. Was allowed to go to full liquids the next morning. Honestly though, I am not hungry at all and I'm barely getting 20 oz of clear and 20 oz of protein.... supposed to have 32 oz of each... on top of that im getting about 1/4 cup of creamy chicken broth and I'm more than done. Follow up at DR on Tuesday to be moved to mushies.
  22. FYI - Pre Op diet people - the icky-ness you feel a few days into it is often referred to as the "atkins flu". If youve ever done atkins (or anything high protein, low carb - hello pre op diet!) its just a phase your body goes through with the dietary changes. luckily it only lasts a day or 2!
  23. i guess im lucky in that sense.... im allowed full liquids already. Go for follow up Tuesday for move to mushies.
