  1. Hey there! Thanks so much for the comment. I have had a lot of success with my band. Hard work pays off :)

  2. Hi there. Thanks for the comment. Yes, I exercise very regularly between 4-6 times per week. I'm about 17 months out and have lost 128 pounds. Good luck on your journey

  3. Hey girl, keep your head up! I remember I was in a lot of pain the first couple of days as well, but it will get better soon, I promise! each day is better than the last...and it is TOTALLY worth it! Getting the band is the best decision I've ever made for myself!!! Good luck and keep me posted on your progress.

  4. Hi there. thanks for the compliment! I've lost 123 pounds and was banded a litte over 16 months ago. In the beginning I was exercising about 5-6 times per week, it slowed down to about 3-4 time but now I'm picking it back up again trying to drop these last 17 pounds to my goal.

  5. Hey lady. Thank you so much for the compliment. It means more to me than I think you realize. Posting pics make me feel like I'm being held accountable and it's pretty awesome to look back and see how I've come. I'm in the bottom stretch now...20 pounds to go until my goal!

  6. I'm on this site because I'm post band! I've lost 120lbs since being banded on 8/27/09. I'm at a standstill right now, but still have another 25 to go!

  7. Wow, I know it's been a few days but lapbandtalk has really changed!

  8. Hey there, how's your weight loss coming along? Its so hard to give pointers these days since I havent lost a pound in a couple of months now (think I need a fill). The best advice I can give is to make sure you are working out at least 3-4 times a week (I was doing 5-6 times in the beginning) and make conscious decisions of what you are eating. The band does limit the amount of food you can eat, but it doesnt always limit what you are eating. Heavy starches like bread, certain pasta, rice, gives me a hard time but i can live without. Chips on the other hand, is my weakness and it does not limit that for me really. :( So just beware. Count your calories. Know of what it takes to burn those calories off and you may think twice before making a bad decision. 30 minutes on the elliptical at a pretty steady pace burns about 350 for me and that's pretty hard work. So some times when I go for that bag of chips and thats 280 cals, it doesnt seem worth it.

  9. Thanks for the comment. That pic seems forever ago now. I was only down 63 in the pic and am down 115 now (almost double that). I still have problems with lose skin but as I continue to work out it seems to get a little better. I think my thighs will always have the lose skin. I guess my payment for letting myself go too far for too long. I plan on having corrective surgery one day but am waiting until I have another baby in a couple of years. :)

  10. Hi there, thanks for the compliment. I actually wrote a blog thats on my page about my diet/workout routine. I've since slowed down the working out, but my weight loss has slowed as well, so I really believe strongly the key to success is working out (it also helps some with the saggy skin). Please check out my blog and let me know if you have any other questions.

  11. Hi there, thanks for the compliment. I'm 5'6

  12. Hey there...thanks for the comment. Getting to the point I am was a lot of hard work, but I'm confident you'll get there too! I've had a lot of people ask about my workout/diet along the way, so I wrote a blog about it. If you go to my page, there are tabs next to the Vistior Message. The >> has a drop down menu for blog. Check it out and let me know if you have any questions. Get excited, your life is about to change in a couple of months!

  13. Hey there...awe, that's so sweet!!! I am proud for what I've accomplished, but it's been a lot of hard work to get there. The lapband only helps monitor the amount of food you take in, so you have to have the mindset that you are going to help it along. You'll do great though...having the band is the best decision I've ever made for myself. Get excited, in a couple of days your life is going to change! If you ever have any questions (i had a TON in the beginning), please dont hesistate to reach out. Good luck!

  14. Hi there, in reply to your post, I've lost 115 pounds with the band, so I'm not sure why the doctor would provide you that info. I know that you do have to fall within a certain BMI in order to be considered for the band, so it depends on your height and weight before they consider gastric vs lapband. My doc told me that it would take me about 2 years to reach a goal of 150-160. I'm 169 now so I'm going to try and see if I can get down to 140 (my ultimate goal) by the end of the year so I can beat his time and weight. :)

  15. Thanks for the pic comments. I am 170 and cant seem to break it. I did for like one day, I was 169...lol. I'm 5'6

  16. Don't lose hope, girl, it CAN be done. In order to achieve maximum results, its not just about the diet. There's only so much the band can help you with. Exercise is key. Also, take lots of pics. It really helps you see your progression and keeps you focused. It also made me feel like I was holding myself accountable since I would take a pic a month of my progress.

  17. Having LB surgery is best decision I've ever made for myself. Good luck! Keep me updated...

  18. Hahaha, thanks for your pic comment. People carry their weight diff. My gf is the same weight as me and looks much thinner. Do what works best for me. I still have 25 pounds to goal! Struggling to break my plateau and get there. Good luck on your journey!

  19. Hey there! Thank you for the comments! God, looking back to where I started (right about what you did) makes me want to cry over what I've achieved...and I know you will too. Not going to lie, took a lot of hard work...a lot of days pushing myself to get to the gym. I'm still not at goal (a measley 25-30lbs to go), but I know I'll get there. I wrote a blog about my first 6 months and what diet/workout routine I had. Check it out....if you have any questions, let me know! This site is a great forum for motivation, inspiration and to ask questions. Good luck!

  20. Hey lady. Well, there's bad news and good news. The bad news is, you really do have to work out if you want to see results faster. I know you can lose some just by diet alone, but working out speeds along the process and helps prevent the saggy skin. Also, there's only so far the band will take you on it's own. The good news is, as the weight starts to fall of (and it will), it gets easier and easier to work out. Never in my life did I think I would be able to run a mile, yet alone 3-5 miles (that's where I'm at now). To answer your other questions, I was banded in Chicago.

  21. awe, thank you...what an honor to be looked at as a role model. It's been a lot of hard work, but I feel great and healthy and have so much more energy. I love my band. When is the big day?

  22. Hey girl, I see you are still trying to decide about having the surgery. I just have to tell you, it's the best decision I've EVER mad for myself. Today is my bandiversary and with a lot of hard work and dedication, I've lost 115 lbs this past year. I started out at 285 and am down to 170. Check out my page. This is a decision I promise you will not regret.

  23. Awe, thanks for your comment! It's comments like those that keep me motivated. I still have a bit to go, but I'm proof that if I can do it, anyone can! :) Good luck

  24. Thank you for your comment. Having the lapband surgery was the best decision I've EVER made for myself. Don't get me wrong, I work hard too and help it along the way, but it gives me the additional help monitoring my food intake. Good luck!!!
