A little over 17 months post op

    From the album: Missy's Journey

A little blurry but you get the idea. Minus 129 pounds from day of surgery.
  2. From the album: Missy's Journey

The first pic is before the diet and the second is after. I've gained 2 pounds back, but I'm ok with that. A lot of hard work and self control for those 10 days. If anyone is interested, go to lemonadediets.org for any and all information.

down 115 lbs from date of surgery
  4. Hi there. Thanks for the comment. Yes, I exercise very regularly between 4-6 times per week. I'm about 17 months out and have lost 128 pounds. Good luck on your journey

  5. Hey girl, keep your head up! I remember I was in a lot of pain the first couple of days as well, but it will get better soon, I promise! each day is better than the last...and it is TOTALLY worth it! Getting the band is the best decision I've ever made for myself!!! Good luck and keep me posted on your progress.

  6. Hi there. thanks for the compliment! I've lost 123 pounds and was banded a litte over 16 months ago. In the beginning I was exercising about 5-6 times per week, it slowed down to about 3-4 time but now I'm picking it back up again trying to drop these last 17 pounds to my goal.

  7. Hey lady. Thank you so much for the compliment. It means more to me than I think you realize. Posting pics make me feel like I'm being held accountable and it's pretty awesome to look back and see how I've come. I'm in the bottom stretch now...20 pounds to go until my goal!

  8. I'm on this site because I'm post band! I've lost 120lbs since being banded on 8/27/09. I'm at a standstill right now, but still have another 25 to go!

  9. Wow, I know it's been a few days but lapbandtalk has really changed!

  10. Hey there, how's your weight loss coming along? Its so hard to give pointers these days since I havent lost a pound in a couple of months now (think I need a fill). The best advice I can give is to make sure you are working out at least 3-4 times a week (I was doing 5-6 times in the beginning) and make conscious decisions of what you are eating. The band does limit the amount of food you can eat, but it doesnt always limit what you are eating. Heavy starches like bread, certain pasta, rice, gives me a hard time but i can live without. Chips on the other hand, is my weakness and it does not limit that for me really. :( So just beware. Count your calories. Know of what it takes to burn those calories off and you may think twice before making a bad decision. 30 minutes on the elliptical at a pretty steady pace burns about 350 for me and that's pretty hard work. So some times when I go for that bag of chips and thats 280 cals, it doesnt seem worth it.

  11. Thanks for the comment. That pic seems forever ago now. I was only down 63 in the pic and am down 115 now (almost double that). I still have problems with lose skin but as I continue to work out it seems to get a little better. I think my thighs will always have the lose skin. I guess my payment for letting myself go too far for too long. I plan on having corrective surgery one day but am waiting until I have another baby in a couple of years. :)

My Journey - 6 months post op - down 79lbs

**Updating due to nutritional changes** Since I've been getting more messages lately asking for advice, what do I eat, how often do I work out, etc., I thought I would take a little time to blog about it. It makes me chuckle a little bit because 7 months ago, I never thought that I would have been one to give any kind of health or workout advice...ever. I am definitely not an expert and am learning as I go as well, so what I'm about to share is only what has worked for me. Everyone's bodies are different and will adjust to the band in different way and our bodies will adjust to the weight loss in different ways as well. MY STATISTICS Age: 29 Kids: Alyssa, 4 yrs old Height: 5'7 Starting Weight: 285 Current Weight: 212 Starting BMI: 44.6 Current BMI: 33.2 Band date: 8/27/09 Band type: AP - holds 10CC Current fill: a little over 5CC (about to have some removed as my band is a little too tight at the moment) MY DIET Morning: Protein shake - In the beginning, I was doing something quick like a Slimfast. If I have time to doctor it up then I like to blend as strawberry slimfast with a banana, ice and a dash of cinnamon OR the cappuccino slimfast is good blended with ice and two teaspoons of peanut butter. However, I found out from my doctor that I wasn't getting nearly enough protein, so I headed over to GNC for some advice. I am now drinking the Syntha 6 Protein Shake (Mochaccino is my fav). It is a little higher in calories and fat grams then some of the other protein shakes, but it is actually very good tasting and since I take it as a meal supplement, I have some calories to spare. No morning snack Lunch: Cup of soup OR a salad OR a SmartOnes/Lean Cuisine meal OR tuna wrap Afternoon snack: Piece of fruit or some other low fat snack Dinner: SmartOnes/Lean Cuisine meal OR 1/2 Chicken Breast with side of green beans OR 1/2 hamburger patti with slice of cheese and side of corn OR soup (I'll doctor up a can of soup for dinner with chopped onions, cilantro, hot sauce) Drinks: Coffee in morning; I try to get in at least 4-5 bottles of water a day and add Special K Protein Water mix for the additional protein WORK OUT SCHEDULE Monday: Body Works class (aerobics class using weights) Tuesday: Kickboxing class + Abs Wednesday: Pilates OR Weights + Abs Thursday: Spin/Cycle class (you can burn 800-1000 calories during one of these classes) + Abs Friday: Weights + Abs Saturday: Workout with personal trainer on either Upper or Lower body using weights (depending on what I did the night before) all my workouts range from 1-1.5hrs MY VITAMINS Solotron Chewable Multivitamin - 2xs daily Biotin - open and add capsule to shake 2xs weekly As far as my banded life has been. I have had 3 fills since being banded (doc says I'm far behind on my fills). All fills have been pretty easy and have given me a good amount of restriction; however, this last fill, a little too much was put in and I need to have some removed. One indicator that your band is too tight is if you cannot drink an entire glass of water without wanting to vomit or spit it back out, then your band is probably too tight. Needless to say, I haven't been able to put anything but liquids down...mostly soup. Hopefully after tomorrow it'll be easier. Again, just proves that having the band is trial and error and everyone's body adjusts to it differently. I hope this helps and good luck on your journey. Please always feel free to email me with any questions! Missy
  13. Hi there, thanks for the compliment. I actually wrote a blog thats on my page about my diet/workout routine. I've since slowed down the working out, but my weight loss has slowed as well, so I really believe strongly the key to success is working out (it also helps some with the saggy skin). Please check out my blog and let me know if you have any other questions.

  14. Hi there, thanks for the compliment. I'm 5'6

  15. Hey there...thanks for the comment. Getting to the point I am was a lot of hard work, but I'm confident you'll get there too! I've had a lot of people ask about my workout/diet along the way, so I wrote a blog about it. If you go to my page, there are tabs next to the Vistior Message. The >> has a drop down menu for blog. Check it out and let me know if you have any questions. Get excited, your life is about to change in a couple of months!

  16. Hey there...awe, that's so sweet!!! I am proud for what I've accomplished, but it's been a lot of hard work to get there. The lapband only helps monitor the amount of food you take in, so you have to have the mindset that you are going to help it along. You'll do great though...having the band is the best decision I've ever made for myself. Get excited, in a couple of days your life is going to change! If you ever have any questions (i had a TON in the beginning), please dont hesistate to reach out. Good luck!

    July 2010

Congrats on the weight loss. You look really good!!
  20. Hi there, in reply to your post, I've lost 115 pounds with the band, so I'm not sure why the doctor would provide you that info. I know that you do have to fall within a certain BMI in order to be considered for the band, so it depends on your height and weight before they consider gastric vs lapband. My doc told me that it would take me about 2 years to reach a goal of 150-160. I'm 169 now so I'm going to try and see if I can get down to 140 (my ultimate goal) by the end of the year so I can beat his time and weight. :)
