amw804 got a reaction from TheCurvyMermaid in Starting over, 5 years after surgery
I am so happy I found your post. I was banded in 2008. Initially lost 70 pounds but have gained back 30 and still need to lose 80 pounds at least. I am going to schedule an appointment with my surgeon to have my band filled since it is empty since 2011 when I had back surgery. I feel like such a failure.

Do NOT feel like a failure. I was banded in 2008, lost 70 pounds, gained 30 back and have not done anything since. I recently rejoined this board for support because I am restarting. We are not the only ones. There are plenty of people that have restarted. First, call your surgeon and get back in with him/her and make sure your band is ok and then go from there! We are all here for you and cheering you on!

amw804 reacted to HilaryInRC in How many calories do you eat a day?
I have had my band for approaching the 5 year mark. I've had successful years and unsuccessful years. I can get weight off to a certain point, but keeping it off is a struggle for me. In fact, I've gained it all back not once, but twice!
I lose steadily if I eat 1100 calories a day, every day, with hardly any deviation and a sedentary lifestyle. When I hit about 175 lbs, the weight no longer comes off.
This time around, I'm trying for a more permanent loss and to incorporate regular exercise. I'm doing things differently and trying to equip myself with knowledge! Hence the question. Plus, I'm a curious gal. I like to know what everybody else is doing!
Please, more people post your answers!
