Hi
I was banded on a Thursday and went back to work part time the followng Tuesday. Worked half days Tues,Wed and then full days on Thurs/Fri. Had the weekend to rest up. I think it is truly up to each person as to how they are feeling and when they are ready. You will know it.

Hi,
I was banded on the 27th. I seem to have more energy but finding the motivation is harder. I am walking after work in the park near my building. If I change and put on sneakers at the office I do not go home first and find an excuse not to walk. I enjoy walking and I am going to start doing hand weights at night when I watch television. I know that if I can get into a pattern I will benefit. How are you doing on the diet with mush food?

Hi
I was banded on the 27th. I hate the liquid as well but it pays off. Lost 16 lbs since surgery. Going to see my surgeon on Friday for two week post-op check up. Week 3 starts for me tomorrow and I can move into pureed foods. How disgusting does that sound? I am sticking with Soups and Jello until the end of weeks 3 and 4 and then I am allowed to introduce soft foods. Looking forward to a tuna fish sandwich or some scrod.

I was supposed to have surgery 9/3, but on first day of liquid diet, had a tachacardia attack. drank some caffiene in diet snapple, exercised, and had the attack. Now am scared silly. Cardiologist said sometimes high levels of ketones can cause arrithmyia. see doc friday to ask questions. detest the liguid diet of glycerna and 1cp clear broth. Not sure can handle post op or restrictive food. any comments? feedback, thanks:sad::thumbup::thumbup:Believe in yourself and stay determined. I hate the liquid diet and can't wait till I can eat food but guess what, I love love love the 15lbs I have lost since my surgery on the 27th of august. You Can Do It:thumbup:

Hi
Wow I can't believe you are getting to eat already. My surgery post-op diet is very restrictive. For the first two weeks I can only have liquids and then weeks 3 and 4 the food has to be pureed. Soft foods are introduced at the end of week four for the next two weeks. Are you tolerating what you are eating?

Hi
I was banded on the 27th. First week behind me and looking forward to next few weeks with a little more freedom food wise. I am having trouble getting my Protein in and frankly, I am not hungry. My morning coffee which I lived for, does not even taste the same. I am feeling stronger and went back to work so I think I am doing fine. Hoping to keep up the progress.

Hi
I have been banded for one week. The 27th was my surgery day. I am feeling well and managing the liquid diet although it is extremely boring. I am trying to keep up with the Protein Shakes ( I am supposed to get 65 grams a day) and I am not making my quota. I am also having trouble with eating. I am not hungry. I actually went yesterday to get some whipped ice cream (soft serve) to mix with the Protein Powder because I had been so far behind my quota and that didn't even taste good. I have been the biggest caffeine addicted person I know and even morning coffee has turned me off. This past week has been crazy. I have been eating sugar free Jello a lot but that is about it. I went to the supermarket the other day and wasn't even tempted to look at anything. I do not know who I am. Scary and excited all together. Lost 10.8 lbs since the 27th.

Hello my fellow banders,
I had my surgery on the 27th of August at Rhode Island Hospital. My surgeon is Dr. Dean Roye with University Surgical Associates. They are located across the street from RI Hospital. I just finished my first week on Clear Liquids and I move to full liquids this week. I am finding it very difficult to drink the Protein Drinks. It is not that they are not tasty enough, but I am not hungry. Wow did I ever think I would say that? But remarkably, I have no appetite. I have all I can do to drink. I did very well the first four days but now I am back to work and it is hard to remember to drink constantly. I did come home from the hospital with a cold (which I went in with) and I have been feeling crappy from that. The pain was not very difficult, even the first day on a scale of 1 to 10 I was about an eight and that was immediately after the surgery. all of my incisions (with the exception of the one the equipment entered through) are healing wonderfully and there is no pain at all at the site. I am still swollen from the surgery but the tenderness is 50% less than my first day. I have lost 10.8 pounds since last Thursday. Looking forward to this journey.:blushing:

How are you feeling? What are you eating?

Hi
My husband's nickname for me is blondie. I am new to this website myself. I am being banded Thursday. I am excited and nervous. Really need to change my life for health reasons. Also, tired of being the fat girl.

Sounds like you are doing just fine. My surgery is on a Thursday so I have 3 days to recover completely before I plan to return to work. I have scheduled Monday off in case I don't feel well enough to come in. I read a lot of patient testimonies and many of them were back at work the same week.
-
Congratulations to you. I have my surgery next Thursday the 27th. How are you feeling? Were you in a lot of pain at first? I am very anxious to hear from you.
-
Well at this point (2:50PM EST) I am sure you are in a comfortable bed sleeping off the anesthesia. I hope you are not in too much pain. Looking forward to hearing from you when you are well enough to blog. I will keep you in my prayers and thoughts. My surgery is next week.

Hi
I am scheduled for next week on the 27th. Close enough to September for me. I will try to stay connected with you because I think it will be good for you to know what to expect. If I experience it two weeks before you do. The one interesting fact I am finding when I read all the blogs is that most of you if not all of you were put on pre-op diets and some had to satisfy the insurance companies. I did not have to do either. I think the insurance compliance is probably related to my age. I am 60 and I think the insurance company would not expect me to convince them I need this surgery. I am thrilled I did not have to go on a pre-op diet. I am not looking forward to the first six weeks post-op with all the liquids and mush food.< /p>

I have never read anything about that (which might not be such a surprise) so I don't have anything to tell you except that keep your spirits up and hope they can correct this. I would not be a happy camper.

Hi
I have been reading some of the blogs and it sounds like you are all very friendly and fun. When you started eating solid foods did any of them become difficult to tolerate?
-
I think you are going to be my hero and lap band buddy rolled into one. I am 60 years old and it is comforting to me to see your age. Much younger but much closer than most. What excercise did you start with and what do you do now?

Hi
Once several years ago I had bronchitis for a very long time and did not smoke during the illness. My doctor told me then that after three weeks all the nicotiene was out of my system and from that point on it is psychological.
-
Hi
I quit the second week of July and had blood work done two weeks later. No one said a word. In my initial interview with the doctor's NP, she was quite strong on the quiting and told me that the day of the operation they would test my urine. If it showed I had not quit smoking they would cancel the surgery. I know that I am nicotiene free at this point and my surgery is next week.

Hi Jen,
You and I are starting this journey together. My surgery is scheduled for the 27th (next Thursday) and I am very excited and nervous all rolled together. I know this is going to be a wonderful experience and I am ready for the challenges coming my way. I would love to keep in touch with you as we begin this life changing process together.

Hi
It is nice to see someone in my generation having this operation. I turned 61 last week and I have been reading all the blogs from many who can be my children. Let's keep in touch. How much have you lost?
