First thing, Congratulations on the NSV and the weight loss!!! I didn't feel tighter around TOM, but I have heard of others who do. Maybe wait a week until after TOM to see if the restriction goes away. It probably will if you didn't have it before.

You are moving right along Lori!!! Congrats on losing another 3lbs!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: The fills seem alot scarier than they actually are. I go back for my third fill on June 4th as well, but I'm hoping to keep this restriction so I won't need it.

That is total BS!!!!!!! I'd be furious if my Dr. told me that. I actually lost 5lbs the week before my second fill. My Dr. congratulated me, but was still more than happy to give me my fill because he KNOWS it's HARD WORK!!! I worked my butt off to lose those 5lbs and felt starved and deprived like I normally do when dieting. I worked out, counted calories (which I hate)...basically strict dieting which I've had years and years of experience in and I don't need anymore. I got my band so I wouldn't have to obsessively diet, count calories, etc, etc. Having good restriction stops the MADNESS!!! I don't need to count calories now and as long as you get your protein in you will have plenty of energy to keep exercising! If you are consistently losing weight without feeling like it's a struggle then you probably don't need a fill, but if you are working your butt off like I was you should have gotten a fill and put your band to use which is why we were banded in the first place. You're not paying a fee everytime you use it so what are you saving it for...why not use it now?!?! I'm sorry for the ranting and it's defintely not towards you Juli. You are just going by what your Dr. ordered, but I wonder if he/she has ever had a weight problem because then maybe he/she can sympathize. Now I'm mad and it's not even my fill!!! :angry

Yes, I have 2 handsome boys ages 4 and 10 and they are definitely momma's boys as well. No, I don't want any more kids. I'm through...tubes tied a couple years ago. Your daughter may be daddy's little girl right now...most girls are, but you'll probably find you have a best friend when she becomes an adult. Most boys usually grow up, get married, and forget about momma (not totally, but pretty much)! I didn't feel tight while he was filling my band. I was able to drink the water just fine in the office. I had my fill in the evening so I didn't drink anything that night when I got home. The next day is when I felt the tightness. I was only able to handle small sips of water and really small sips of protein shake. I just didn't like that feeling. Some people suffer through the tightness and from what I've read on this board it sounds miserable. I don't think not being able to eat most foods and PBing all the time is the way the band is supposed to work and it can lead to slippage. I did have some taken out and I think the restriction I have now is perfect! Good Luck with your fills. I think you will be able to tell very soon afterwards if it is way too tight.

Thank-you all for your thoughts and prayers. You all are so sweet and I love this group! I only have one thing to say...I AM LOVING MY BAND!!! This restriction is FANTASTIC!!! I am eating about 1/2cup of food at each meal and I am full. When my pouch is full it feels like a knot in my chest and if I try to keep eating it just gets worse. No PB's yet (knock on wood)! I got a little discouraged a couple times because I couldn't eat more. My eyes were bigger than my stomach (literally;)), but I am so glad that I can't. THANK-YOU BAND!!! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2: I am hoping I can keep this restriction at least til my next appt. which is June 4th! I went jogging for the first time last week! I am still geeked that I was able to do it!!! lala3000 you are AWESOME girl!!! Thank-you so much! You told me I could do it and I DID!!! I'll be ready again on Tuesday! I'll try to keep up this time! :biggrin1: Have a Great Week Everyone!!!

WOW...I've missed alot of postings, but it sounds like everyone is doing great. I've been running around in circles the last few days. My cousin just passed away so I've been trying to make arrangements to get to Mississippi for the funeral next weekend. This wouldn't be a big issue if we didn't already have flights going to Las Vegas the same weekend. Yes, we had to cancel our trip to Las Vegas Mother's Day Weekend! :cry Besides being charged a $100 change fee for switching flights. The cost of the plane tickets to Jackson is triple the cost that we paid for Las Vegas! Jackson, MS isn't exacly a vacation spot or a popular destination unless of course it's Mother's Day Weekend!!! We just decided to take the credit for the flights and use it some other time. We're taking the train to Jackson! Lapband News: Well, I was extremely tight after my 2nd fill on Monday. I tried to tough it out, but I was even having a hard time drinking Water. I was sweating profusley and feeling very weak. When I went to my group meeting Tuesday night, I got mixed opinions on whether I should wait it out or have some taken out. After the meeting the nurse was still there so I told her what I was feeling and she immediately said I was too tight. She said I am so glad you said something because they've had some who wait until they are dehydrated or worse. Anyhow, I had .5cc removed so now I'm at 2.25cc in a 4cc band. I feel alot better and I still have good restriction.

Remember that a true workout is when your heart rate increases to your target heart rate. If you are able to recite your full name, address, and phone number without running out of breath or panting afterwards you are not working out hard enough!

Thanks AfrykanViolet, I workout at a gym and I also ride my bike. I was stuck at 252lbs for 3 weeks and low and behold this past week I lost 5lbs!!! Keep at it and keep moving...that scale is going to move! Janine, I think we're the only ones that use the name "Marchies", but I should have at least put 07 in the original message. I'll see if I can go back and add it. Juli, Congrats on the NSV!!! Thanks Tracy! Welcome to Bandland...you finally made it!!! I hope your surgery was a success! I'll be peeking over at the April thread to see how you're doing! Guns, LLSibley, and anyone else having trouble cutting and pasting...don't worry about it. Just give us a daily or weekly update. We wanna see!!! kuebel j, my5grlz, and medge, I'm sending some "will power" vibes your way as you all wait for your fills! Hazelbunny, size 32/34 to a size 24!!!! WOOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!! :clap2:

and I am definitely restricted...maybe a little too much! I was at 1.5cc in a 4cc band after my 1st fill. Now I'm at 2.75cc. I'm such a worry wart. I said the same thing the last time, but this time I mean it. I am REALLY TIGHT!!! Drinking water isn't a problem, but it took me 2 hours to drink a 4oz protein shake. After taking a sip, it would kind of sit there for a few seconds before going through the band. The warm cream of broccoli soup I had for lunch went down a little easier. I'm hearing all these gurgling noises that I didn't hear after my first fill. I'm not sure if this is what "good restriction" is supposed to fell like or not. I'll be moving to solid foods on Thursday so we'll see! :omg:

It took me awhile too. We're only allowed so many lines in our signature since they changed the format. Anyhow, I hope everyone is doing fine. Here's the link to our new thread. http://www.lapbandtalk.com/showthread.php?p=458292#post458292 Hope to see all of you there. I have more to post, but I'm off for my workout so I'll see you guys on the new thread!
  15. I love that title...Thanks Demmemoon! March 2007 Bandsters! We have finally been banded!!! We thought we'd never have this surgery behind us and here we are at the start of April and some of us are already at or close to the 1 month mark. Now, we are moving on to fills, real food, exercise, and watching those pounds melt away! I am looking forward to hearing about everyone's experiences. Keep posting!

Thanks for the encouragement. I don't think I was at a plateau...I was just eating too much!:-) I know it will get better!!!

    Oh MY Goodness!!

WOW, you WILL be arriving in ONE-derland very soon!!!!! Yes, I've heard the same thing...working out on an empty stomach goes right to burning body fat instead of the food you've eaten!

    BANDSTER HELL!!!

Well I haven't really lost any weight in the past couple weeks. Still 27lbs down and stuck at 252lbs! :bored I had my first fill 2 weeks ago and I do feel some restriction, but I am still able to eat quite a bit. I started counting calories last week to try to get this scale to move. I've been staying under 1000cal/day so I'm hoping that helps. I haven't weighed myself since Tuesday, but I will when I go to the hospital tomorrow for my 2nd fill. I absolutely hate counting calories so I'm hoping with proper restriction I won't have to. We'll see if the second fill will get me there! I have less than 2 weeks left for Las Vegas and was hoping to lose 13lbs by then. Doesn't look like that's gonna happen so I'll take ANY loss at this point. On a positive note, I've been working out everyday and my body is definitely changing so I feel good about that!!!

    PRE-OP DIET....

WOW!!!! Only 4 more days!!! I am so happy for you...your time has finally arrived. Girl, don't worry about the steak...you can't un-eat it. Just get back to your liquids. You will be fine!!! I can't wait to see you at the post-op meetings to see how everything went. Best of Luck to You!!!

Guns you are so AWESOME and MOTIVATING!!! I've been counting calories and trying to stay under 1000cal/day. This past week I've been doing pretty good. 5 out of 7 days is not bad! So far, I journal w/ paper and pencil. I think I'm gonna try fitday to keep track of my calories.

    Marchies In April

Josie, sounds like you're starting to come around. The protein shakes will give you the calories and energy you need. I'm glad you're doing better! No, I still don't have a name for our next thread. So far, it's 1 vote for Marchies in May and 1 for March into May. Anyone else? Janine, I had my first fill 2 weeks ago and I did get some restriction. I go for my second fill tomorrow so I'm hoping this will be it!!! I have never PB'd yet, but I definitely know the band is there. I've had the "stuck" feeling a couple times...but it doesn't last very long and eventually passes through. The amount of restriction felt is different for everyone. It also depends on the size of your band and the amount of fill you receive. Some Dr's only add a little at a time and some Dr's fill aggressively (this is my Dr.) Good luck on Thursday and let us know how it goes! nurseamy and Mrs. Husker, Hang in there you guys! Juli, I am loving the video clips. Thank-you so much! I can get started on some of those right away! Kyethra, WOW...you had an interesting day. I know you haven't had much of an appetite so that day is to be expected. I'm glad you were able to look at yourself, dust yourself off and get ready for a new day. I like your food strategies for staying on track. You are going to do GREAT!!!
