    Hi Everyone
My surgery was on 5/10, I was a band to sleeve conversion
I wouldn't describe day 1 as a walk in the park, in fact it was a bit more intense than I had envision. I am not one for narcotics, but The pain pump and I got to know each other. I would say extremely sore would describe that day 1. The staff was great. I had a prophylactic antibiotics called flagyl and one of the side effects is that it leaves a horrendous metallic taste in your mouth. To the point that each sip was disgusting. And of course they want you to sip sip sip and with each one I yaked yaked yaked. By day 3 this went away although I had a filmy sensation in my mouth Today is day 5 and that has gone away. Also today is the first day that I have been able to consume a decent amount of Water. I feel that I am really starting to turn the bend. In that the soreness in swallowing has subsided The place where my port was located is sore but the doc said it would be because the previuos surgeon used the realize band and the way to plant the port was to twist it into the muscle facia. So untwisting it would leave me sore. The remarkable thing is that since Friday my weight is dropping including the 1 week pre op diet I am down 13lbs. Which I am happy about since my starting BMI was 35. I am on full liquids so I still need to focus on the 60 grams of Protein. I probably hit 50 today. I think it will get a bit easier. The one big difference from band to sleeve is that the sensation of full is much more noticeable. The band had me purging and I felt I had no control. Bye I got the band in 2008 and did keep most (except 15 lbs) off but it was a battle
So I am very excited with this new venture and sense of control

I keep telling myself that slow and steady wins the race. Maybe I'll have less loose skin, etc. if I lose slower. I don't know, I always try to look at the positive side of stuff, even though I get down sometimes too.

Patterba reacted to JamieLogical in Do you find that vomiting has become part of your post VSG life?
I have only vomited four times post-op (I'm well over 2 years out now). One was when my whole family had a stomach bug and ALL of us were throwing up, so nothing to do with my sleeve. The second time was my second Thanksgiving post-op. I ate too fast or didn't chew well enough and something got "stuck". I had tremendous pain in my chest and foamies until I finally threw up and felt a million times better. The third time I went on a pub crawl and drank WAY too much alcohol... definitely nothing to do with my sleeve and everything to do with me being an idiot. The last time was this past summer. I ate way too quickly again or didn't chew thoroughly again then proceeded to play Lasertron (fancy laser tag) for about two hours. By the end I was dying. Again with the "stuck" feeling and foamies until I was able to throw up and get out whatever was stuck.

That is definitely true of her. She "talked me down" from several possible procedures because she didn't think the results would be worth the money or the risk/recovery. A lot of surgeons would just want you go with more procedures or the more expensive options to try to get more money out of you.

I rarely feel hunger, acid can mimic hunger. I forget to eat often because I don't feel hunger. My body has changed significantly, preop I felt hunger all day long & constantly thought of food .

    That is healing, congrats.
    That seems pretty normal.
I have no idea what size the chicken sausage links are though. The ones at Trader Joes and Sam's are bigger than hot dogs.
How many ounces/grams are you eating at once? And how long does it take you to eat it.

Well, I'll step up and be the not so normal one! Let me first say that I have been married for almost 17 years, and most of those have been great. We met in high school (we went to different schools) and got married right after graduation.....and we had a 3 1/2 year old son by this time. This is in no way an excuse on my part! A little ove 6 years ago, I began working outside of the home for the first time in 9 years. I met someone (who was a married friend of a co worker) whom we had lunch with a few times. He began calling (there were only two of us in the office and I answered the phones) and each time our conversations would get longer before he'd talk to my co worker. We had a lot of things in common and at the time my marriage was rocky....... I had already considered leaving. Our phone conversations and lunches (we were never alone at lunch) turned into meeting for a few minutes after work, just talking. These meetings got longer, altough we kissed and held each other, we never had sex. This "relationship" was very intense, but short lived. Intense being that this man told me over and over how much he loved me (his marriage was pretty much over at this point, and within about 6 months he was divorced) and that he wished we had met years before, etc.......I basiclly laughed at him and said there was no way he could love me, he didn't really know me......Anyway, my husband found out, and he left me (for a day/night). I was devestated, and he was in such pain, I couldn't believe that I could hurt him like that. You see, being married young, with a baby I never believed that he married me because he loved me......I never really wanted to get married, and dh will tell you that had we not had Josh we probably never would have gotten married. I talked him into coming home, we went to a marriage counsler and then I went to the counsler alone (I also was raped at 15 by two boys, one of which I knew and I never dealt with that)....and we both learned a lot about ourselves and each other. DH has said that maybe he didn't love me like he should have in the beginning, but at 18 who really knows what love is? I now know without a doubt that he loves me more than life itself, and I feel the same way about him. I do regret the pain I caused dh and kids, but I don't think had this not happened that we would still be together.

Seems like they've been discontinued. I just bought a case via eBay for our patients. Check out eBay. I see they still have them.
