clear liquid requirement
I'm looking at the requirements for Clear liquids phase, first 10 days post op. Dr. Aceves' instructions say "nothing other than clear liquids and a Protein supplement such as Isopure or whey protein . Is Jay Robb chocolate Protein powder mixed with milk acceptable, or does it have to be mixed with Water? It is certainly not "clear" even mixed with water. I don't like the taste unless mixed with milk. Or is isopure a "clear" Protein Drink? If required, I will drink anything in order to follow the requirements, but if Jay Robb mixed with milk meets the requirements, I'd be more happy. Anybody know? Thanks

cost of nexium in mexico
Down in Soc: WOW. I sure don't want to be thrown into a Mexican jail. I've heard they are terrible, worse than US jails. I will certainly ask for a prescription before I buy anything to bring back. I am wondering also if my insurance company would honor a prescription from a physician in Mexico...they won't pay for my surgery, but I don't see why they would not pay for the nexium. Does anyone on this forum have any experience with that?

cost of nexium in mexico
Nexium is not a narcotic/controlled drug so why would they have any concerns about it coming across the border?:confused1:

What is the cost of a 6 months supply of nexium mups in Mexico? What does "mups" mean? Do any of you know if the pharmacy near the Mexicali hospital takes travelers checks? Just getting all my ducks in a row so I hopefully won't have to deal with you know what.... Thanks!

Night Reflux? Maybe?
Tiffy's suggestions sound helpful. Also some people find if they elevate the head of the bed or use a wedge pillow to keep the torso at an angle prevents the stomach fluids from coming up. Also avoiding any spicy foods, caffeine, and smoking, helps some people. Hope you feel better soon.

Complications after Sleeve Surgery
Try diluting the acai fruit flavor with water. It is delicious, and my favorite. The 1:1 dilution also saves you half the cost! :thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1::thumbup1:

Complications after Sleeve Surgery
For clear liquid I discovered that I like 0 calorie Sobe Lifewater better than anything else. It is Vitamin enriched, and is sweeteded with stevia. No aspartame etc. I find it a little sweet so I dilute it half & half with filtered Water. Able to drink three to four 20 oz bottles of the diluted drink daily, easily. (presleeved...we'll see how I do after sleeving.) There are a lot of flavors, and they contain various herbal and vitamin products, some of which can increase the risk of bleeding (vitamin E, Ginger, and others) So I'll have to stop it a week prior to surgery and will wait until a week after surgery to resume drinking it.

August Sleevers
Did the spasms go away and not come back at all after the valium? Just checking in case I get that when I am sleeved, I will ask for valium. Glad you are home. Isn't it great to sleep in your own bed?

Surgery Today
Esophageal spasms. Ouch. I hear that they can feel like a heart attack, they are so severe. It's a shame that some physicians don't really hear what is being said...glad you found a nurse to listen and get you what you needed. Maybe if you gently warmed what you are drinking, it would go down easier. I have read on this forum that some found it worked better than cold or room temp beverages. Did they do a hiatal hernia repair while they were in there? If so, that might irritate things a bit more than just a sleeve procedure. Anyway, I hope the night is better than today was, so you can get some rest!

Crazy ichy ???
One post said that Dr Aceves stated the morphine that is given in the spinal causes this in some people. I read some articles that also stated this. Did you have a spinal? If that's the cause, it should pass once it's out of your system.

No More weight coming off...and bummed
I'm curious about this "stall" thing, being the kind of person who likes to know how things work. I have a new scale that shows %water and % body fat, as well as weight. After I have my sleeve, I'm going to track all of those parameters and just see if maybe the water weight is going up when I stall. If muscle mass goes up from increased exercise, I think %water weight might go up too...but am not sure. Since many of you are recording continued loss of inches during a stall, it might just be that you are losing fat and gaining muscle during that time. Any expert physiologists out there have a clue?

Great nutritional content site for all foods
Just ran across the very best website I've found for analyzing the nutritional content of foods. It shows all the usual stuff (fats, carbs, Proteins, etc, and more....it also shows glycemic index, nutrient balance, Vitamin content, Protein quality, types of fatty acid content, minerals, sterols... I love it. Let me know what you think. Nutrition Facts and Analysis for Fish, sardine, Atlantic, canned in oil, drained solids with bone By the way, I received approval for the sleeve surgery from Aceves' office today...Yippie! Cajun
