  1. Trish, I did have sleep apnea. Dr Aceves office asked me to bring my cpap to Mexico, which I did do. They do not offer cpap's there, so you will need to bring your own. The good new is that after losing 35 lbs I no longer stop breathing at night and have been able to sleep fine without the cpap.

  2. Pumpkin, I first noticed mine about a week after surgery. I noticed a sore spot and very faint bruise about 6 inches above where my IV was. I kept an eye on it for several days and when it got worse and hurt my hubby took me into the ER. If you suspect it is a clot, be sure to go in and get it checked. I'm not sure what signs to look for as this is the first time I ever had a blood clot. They did an ultra sound in the ER and found I had clots from my wrist to my elbow from the IV. Keep me posted and let me know what you think.

  3. Rob, as I recall I did the exact same thing. Especially as it my surgery got closer and closer. To be honest with you, the first month is difficult because life as we know it is gone. And we are trying so hard to figure it all out. I'm almost 2 months out and I couldn't be happier. I don't think you will regret it at all. I think you'll be happy with it and your renewed health.

  4. Hi Rob, I'm doing very well. Weight loss has been very slow but I'm moving in the right direction. I'm down 34lbs. weeehaaaa. Life has changed so much. You won't regret getting this done (well maybe at first you will) but once you get the routine down..it's fantatic. When are you coming to Colo?

  5. Just checking on you. How's your journey going? Mines going pretty good so far.

  6. Hey Brenda, checking in on your to see how things are going? I hope you are doing wonderful. I'm defintely starting to eat more foods a little at a time. I still haven't had much hunger at all. I did have one incident where I tried to eat Ribs and almost lost them back up. Ugh, so I won't try that again for a few weeks. I've decided to only weigh once a week. As of last week I was down 28 lbs. It's slow but steady.

  7. part 2: I'm 4 weeks out and still dealing with it. They have put me on aspirin daily and hot packs on my arm to try to disolve it. From what I've been told it can last for months. Fortunately I don't think it's very common, and there is no known cause for it. My doc says sometimes they happen from the needle knicking the inside of the vein and others times they just occur fron trama to the veins.

Best wishes to you tomorrow. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers as I know it can be very scary and nerve wracking. Let me know how you are doing.

  8. Hi Vickey. Welcome to the forums and congratulations on your susrgery date tomorrow. I'm sure you will do just fine. The first week can be a little uncomfortable but for the part everyone sails through it pretty quickly. I'm one of the few who developed a blood clots as result of the IV used during surgery. I don't think it's real common but just one of those things that can happen from surgery. After I was home from having my sleeve I noticed a lump on my arm about 5 inches above the area where they had put my IV. It became very sore and bruised feeling and I ended up in the ER only to discover I had blood clots all the way from my wrist to my elbow.

  9. Just wanted to say "Happy Birthday"!

  10. Hi Brenda, I'm doing pretty good so far. I am enjoying some mushy food for a change. The only mushy food I've tried so far is scrambled eggs, cottage cheese and refried beans. This weekend I'll move up to chicken salad, tuna salad and see how I do with it. Have you have any issues with food going down? I find it so hard to beleive we are only allowed to eat 2 ozs per meal, and are not suppose to have snack. :o My arm is still giving me problems unfortunately. Glad you are doing ok.

  11. DeeDee, Thanks so much for your comment. I think it's normal to have that "what have I done" moment from time to time don't you? Do you still every get those as far out as your are? You have done fantastic and it's fun to read your story and hear your excitement in your posts.

  12. Hi PhatmanWalkin, Thanks so much for your comment. I think I am on the mend and all the prayers are so appreciated. I am excited for you and your future journey. I'm sure the wait is hard as I know it was for me, but stay focused. It will be here before you know it.

  13. Congratulations on getting your sleeve on the 24th! Are you going to Dr. Aceves. It is a major change, but I have no doubt its going to be a healty one.

  14. Tiff, Thanks so much for your comment. I'm so glad to hear that everything went ok with your surgery. You are one of our mentors here and I know lots of people here care about you. Hoping you have a speedy recovery and are back up and bouncing in no tme.

  15. Firefly, thanks so much for thinking of me. My arm seems to be doing much better. It's very frustrating though because there's no way of really knowing unless they do another untra sound and it doesn't sound like they have another lined up. So basically, from what I can tell it appears to be much better. I haven't had any swelling at all for days although there is still one small knot on my arm. Please continue to pray as I really don't know what else to do but that! How are things your way?

  16. My doc hasn't mentioned doing another ultra sound, but I may end up asking her about it when we get the results from the blood work she did. I've added some cream soups this week. Cream of chicken, cream of potatoe (had to blend) and I cooked the lentil soup recipe on the recipe forum here (but also blended it) and boy was that good! I can't wait to have cottage cheese. lol I never thought I'd hear myself say that. I've also added some whey protein shakes for breakfast. Some are good and others taste awful. Sounds like you are doing pretty good. I start back to work tomorrow and sure hope I do ok.

  17. Hey Brenda, I think my arm is getting better. It hasn't been swelling at all, so I'm gonna take that as a good sign. It's hard to tell since a blood clot cannot be seen. I'm still doing the hot compres and hopeing and praying for the best. How are you doing? Have you added any new foods to your diet yet?

  18. I'm finally doing much better. I had a couple of rough days. My arm still is a little swollen from the clot, but I really have no way of telling if it's getting better or not. It definitely isnt swelling like it was before. I go back to work tomorrow. How are you doing? Are you feeling ok?

  19. Phatman, what a small world. I live in Monument. Thanks for the friend request and good luck to you on this journey to become thin and healthy!

  20. I had another ultra sound and a cat scan done last night. No blood clot in the lungs (thank goodness). I do have one huge blood clot that goes from my wrist to my elbow. Right now I'm on high doses of motrin and hot compresses to try to disolve it. They aren't sure why it happened, it's just one of those things. I've lost 2.5 lbs since surgery. I'll take what ever I can get. How are you doing?

  21. I just felt a lump on my arm above IV area and it kept hurting and didnt go away. Its still real swollen. I sure hope it goes away.

  22. I'm doing great on my fluids. I just feel so tired of sipping all day,

  23. I'm still up one pound from surgery day. I also spent 5 hours in ER last night. I have a blood clot in my arm. Very scary. I just pray it goes away on it's own. Glad you are doing well. Keep me posted.

  24. Well we do know it takes time to get adjusted and that having regrets is Normal. I think each day will get better and better. Hang in there. We can lean on each other. *hugs*

  25. I'm doing great. Just feel like I'm drinking all day long, yet I'm no close to where I need to be on my fluids nor proteins. How about you?
