I feel like I have been in a midlife crisis for the last 20 years. Now I just feel old. Today my son turn 31 and I feel like I should just put my hair up in a bun and find a frumpy dress. I think you are just feeling good about yourself enjoy it! Cheri

Walking is the best. You can hold a small pillow against you stomach if it helps for no movement. I walked every night up and down my drive way in my PJ's after dark with my pillow and Gas X Cheri

I really think it depends on how much you value that friend. I have a few friends that I have to accept them as they are as I love them but do not like everything things they do and say (not weight related) So look at his/her pros and cons. Maybe she will come around and not feel threaten when she see how happy you are. Women are just weird sometimes, they would like to know they could have what you have EVEN if they don't want it in the long run. lol Cheri

You can live your life for you or for other people. People who don't care about your health and happiness are probably not good friends. Women are always looking for a way for attention all the size 2,4,6 “I am so fat” PLEASE!!! I would tell her maybe she could “tone up” while you are losing. The thing is always know where the bathroom is. When I get stuck I stop eating and just sit and talk, I can still talk, it is stuck in the Band not my mouth. After I have stopped eating in a few minutes I can tell if it is going to move on through or it will soon come up. My eyes start to Water and I know get up and go now! In the bathroom I will wait till no one is in the bathroom and then bring it up or if someone is not leaving anytime soon I will go in the stall and flush the tollet as I throw it up as I do not want someone's meal to be ruined. I have been Banded for almost 3 year and the bathrooms at most places and I are friends. But I have learned that if I wait too long and start for the bathroom too late it will just continue to come up with force in my mouth and that is worse than anything. In the past year I have not been stuck but a few times and once for about 4 straight days during the Thanksgiving holidays untill I used the “drano” solution which is diet coke (not cold) mixed with lime juice and meat tenderizer and drink big gulps as it goes down and right back up with full force along with whatever was stuck in there. Not pleasant but works. I do not make a big scene when I get stuck usually my husband will not even know till we leave the resturant. But there are some drama queens I am sure. Cheri

Your band your right to have a fill. You will find out soon the difference between a filled Band and an unfilled Band it is called “ hunger” followed by “weight gain”. You need the Band to help you keep the weight off. Congratulations on your results very very good! You should be so proud of yourself! That's why you were so sucessful cause you know what to do. Just my opinion, but none of us own this place and can talk about what we chose to. Every post Pattygreen posts will probably include some reference to our Heavenly Father. It is her post and right to post what she wants here as long as it follows the rules, Isn't that right? I am a Christian and I talk about praying and healing from God when I feel the need to. Pattygreen is studying and learning new things and she feels led to share them, so she must, or I believe answer for it later. We may not all agree with every word she says but it is her post. Who does agree with every post someone makes? People who are offended when they read something that includes Christ should just choose another thread to read and post on. She is in the right catagory. There are a lot of Christians on these foms most all have made reference to God or praying and I have never seen them attacked, so what gives? In the past Pattygreen had several people who would get into some good, some heated, some mean conversations with them this area is a off topic/debate area. Just my feeling but I would rather read a post about Jesus than “anal sex”, or “do you still swallow after in band”, or lets see “how to bed a hot chick” and many, many other ones over the past 3 year. If you read what the topic is and don't like it I say don't read it just like I did not read the above threads and many more. Cheri

It is so glad to see your post but . . . this one I don't totally agree with you on all points you made. That is why as Christians we need to read and study the Word. Cheri

Pattygreen good to see you back! I missed your posts. As a Christian I think God can be talked in any and all conversations. He is big part of our life just as the Band is part of our life. Good to have you back! Cheri

Go talk to your surgeon. Maybe something can be done to help your keep it, but if you really want it removed just go talk to him/her. I was self pay and I know my surgeon charged $3500 for removal and I think it took the same amount of time and less recovery. But someone who had their band removed will be more help than me. I bet if you search for that topic you will find the infomation you need. But I would try to see if something can do to make life with the Band more comfortable for you. Cheri Oh wow I just notice you were only 5 days out. Man I would give it at least 6 month before you give up on it working for you! You are just probably healing and after surgry some tend to get emotional, give it more time.

Just my advice . . . I have had many questions about my meds and things my Doctor recommends and people just give you their advice and experiences. We decide for ourself what to do. We are all grownups and are suppose to think for ourselves. But the main thing I want to share with you is that Elcee is full of knowledge that she shares with us. She does not push her opinion on others. She is helpfull and kind. But she is also honest and doesn't sugarcoat stuff and I for one like that. If you don't talk to her or read her post it is your lost not hers. You are missing out!!! Sometimes the written word gets read with an attitude that was never there! Cheri

Wow I always wondered what that feels like. How different is it than the Bypass, probabbly too early to tell. Will you tell us your story about what happen with the bypass to cause you to need or want to add the band? I think it will help any of us who wonder what it would have been like if we did the Bypass instead of the Band? Tell us if you don't mind if you don't want to thats okay too. Welcome! Cheri

Just my opinion but I think we go through a grieving process as food was our friend and now it is not. It will not be our comfort anymore so we grieve. Sounds stupid but think about it . . . . Now we eat to stay alive . . .we have to watch what we eat and others do not so we tend to get a little resentful . . .or angry that we have to give up stuff others do not. It is not their fault and not our place to make others stop eating things because we over induldged for years. You have to have a new outlook on life and the role food now plays in it. It is a hard thing but we all have to do it if you want to be successful. Cheri

Okay I believe in always being honest. I talked about how I am up all night (even with sleep meds). Well . . . about 2:30 am I gave in and ate a bag of 100 calorie popcorn. I hate to be a bad example but I am adding another day of liquids for slipping up. The first 3 days of starting over are the hardest for me. Don't let my slip up mess you up . . . I had to confess as we are over and done with secretive eating! We can all do this! Today should be easier! Cheri

Day 2. Got all my shakes in and Water. Do have a headache. Trying a new Protein shake it is good it is premier, ready to drink, 30 grams protein 3 grams of fat, sugar 1 gram, carbs 5, 160 calories at sam's 18 for 17.99. Last night was hard for me as I eat at night good and bad stuff as I do not go to sleep till at least 3 or 4. But nothing last night but water. My husband is out ay 10 pm still have to work out tonight though Keep up the good work ladies!! Cheri

Sounds like you would be in better hands with a different Dr. anyway. My surgeon moved a year after my surgery. He moved to take care of his parents who were very old. Can't blame him for that, but he was such a great Dr. But I have a new one who I have only had to see once as I was Banded in July 2009 and have not needed but one fill since he left. So maybe it will not be that bad. Have you checked to see if USA Fill has a location near you? Cheri
