Who's With Me!
Okay I am almost 3 years out and have been maintaining for about a year and a half. I never made it to goal, l got to size 10 pants and said, “this is good enough”. So tomorrow I am returning to basics and losing the last 15 or 20 lbs I want to lose. Gonna start with liquids and work my way up just like I did after surgery. Workout 7 days a week, just like before. I was one of the lucky (blessed) ones who lost all hunger with the Band . . . .except “Head Hunger” . . . which never goes away. So we all know it is easier when you do not have to do something alone? Anyone want to join me? Cheri

Omg Worst Lap Band Experience Of My Life! (Some Might Find It Funny)
As one who threw-up or spit up a lot when I was first banded. You have to put some t. paper in before you do it and it keeps the Water from splashing on you. Not a whole lot just a lttle bit. Works for me. Cheri

2 Years And Frusterated :(
You need to go see your surgeon. He needs to do a fluoro and see if everything is alright. Also tell him you want someone who knows what they are doing to do your fills. I am 2½ years out and every fill I have every had was done by a surgeon and one poke and that is it. Also I think you have to workout. Most of us don't like it (some do) but you can't expect to lose weight with out uping you movement and burning some calories. You can do it just start out small and work your way up. I have always had to workout unless I go very, very low carb, then I seem to lose without much exercise but I can not stick with it long. But don't give up, hey I think you can't complain if you are not doing all you know you are suppose to. I tell myself that all the time. Please go see your Dr. and start a workout program, even just walking around the mall. Cheri

What Are The Most Common Sliders??
- What Are The Most Common Sliders??
You may hear the term "slider food" if you're researching lapband surgery, and you may wonder what it means. Typically a slider food is one that can easily slip through the narrow stoma passage created by the band's restriction. It is important to avoid slider foods as much as possible, because they slide right through where they are supposed to be restricted for awhile. Slider foods don't help you feel full and can be full of calories, too, so they really defeat the purpose of your lapband. Milkshakes, malts and other ice cream treats - No matter how thick they are, they will melt by the time they hit your stomach and just slide right through your band. And they're high in calories. If you must have a milkshake, try a Protein shake instead. cheese - By the time most cheeses get to the band, they are also melted and can slide right through the band. Fortunately, they cheeses usually have a lot of protein, but be careful to not overdo it. Candy (especially chocolate) - Many lapband patients report that candies can slide through their band easily, which is unfortunate, because many lapband patients also have a sweet tooth. An occasional small piece of candy is okay, but be sure to have it after you have had a healthy meal so you won't be as tempted to eat as much. High-calorie liquids - Many of your favorite liquids are high in calories and can easily slide right through even a tight lapband restriction. Think twice before drinking sugary sodas, fruit juices and fancy coffee drinks. They may taste great, but they will do nothing to help you lose weight. Don't think, though, that slider foods are bad. They can actually serve a very good purpose when it comes to foods that are typically difficult for lapband patients to tolerate. Consider adding sauces, dressings or melted cheese to firm eggs, tuna, steak or other foods that tend to sit too long before passing through your stomach pouch. A little slider sauce can add flavor and help ease some more difficult foods back into your diet. Copied Cheri- Juicing?
I must say I am enjoying knowing some veggies are going in me. But I will never do cabbage again. It almost killed me with gas. Cheri- So Unhappy :(
My doctor was like that 1 cc or ½ cc at a time but that was fine with me. It was hard for me to get use to them each time. I felt restriction really soon went 2 years and only 3 cc in a 10 cc Band and lost 84 lbs with really no hunger after the first month. I still can go all day and not eat unless I think of it. Not sure why but I like it. Now if they could just do something about the head hunger it never goes away. Cheri- Frustrated To The Point Of Crying
Don't cry you are losing just slowly. If you eat too much it is bad but also if you do not eat enough. You may not be eating enough and your body goes into starvation mode. Don't give up. Do you go to a support group? If not find one, it helps so much. Or find you a buddy on here and exchanges info and talk on phone or e-mail everyday. It will help you so much. Cheri- Newbies Take Caution
Mis73, you are 100% right, never knew the name for them but that is what they do. One guy followed me and other poster around from topic to topic making aurguments and sending private messages to us. She reported him and he was gone. Thanks for the info. Just hate to see people get scared off with lies, sometime the truth is scary.. I also love my Band! Cheri- Newbies Take Caution
Also there are some really nice, knowledgeable, encouraging people on here and some great tushie kickers on here too. Something for everyone!!! Cheri- Newbies Take Caution
Okay some people the Band does not work for agreed . . . but the difference is when it does not work for you, like you want it to and you know it and admit some of the blame falls on you (us) . . .post away. It helps people to see we all struggle in some ways. We can help and encourage people and/or some people like to kick your little tushie (Can I say that?) to get you back on track I am talking about people who come here talking really bad about the Band to promote other surgeries when they never even had the Band. They know nothing about the Band. Really people get paid to do that! Cheri- Discouraged!!!!
You are doing good. Some people lose slower than others. Could be foods you eat, meds, age, activity level we are all different. Remember you are moving down instead of up on the scale. YOU CAN DO IT JUST HANG IN THERE!!! Cheri- Newbies Take Caution
I start out knowing I will get heat for this but here goes . . . .I have a hard time believeing ALL these people who have nothing good to say about the Band are real. They ALL have been banded for several years and the Band totally failed them or they never loss the weight or lost it and gained it all back plus some. When you read someone's posts look at who is posting it. If they just joined today and have only posted one post and never post again MAYBE they are just misleading you. In over 2½ years here I have seen it happen a lot. I am not saying everyone's is like that I know some people are being real cause I know some people the Band doesn't work for them or some don't work with their Band. I always try to give people advice anyway, but there have been a few that were just flat out rude and and sent people rude private messages all night including me, if you call them on what you suspect , , , you can tell what they are doing. Trying to scare people away from the Band. People get paid to do that. Newbies and people researching just saying I think we should help every body but take caution in what you are reading. Even mine!! Cheri- Gaining Back All The Weight
Go see your Dr. that is what he is there for. People still lose weight even when they don't work out, just slower. You have to start eating the right stuff and the right amount. I suffer from depression for years and you just have to make yourself understand the food will not make you happy if makes it worse. Cheri- Enough!
I never ate ½ cup even in the beginning it was always at least 3/4 or a little bit more depending on what it is. But I did buy some bowls that were 3/4. I used them all the time. Hang in there it will get better. Cheri- Lap Band Problems
If I had my surgery 2 years ago and only lost 15 lbs I would be at the Dr everyday, muchless now when you have a problem. Something was wrong from the beginning. Go see your surgeon Cheri- 2 Years Later, Starting Over. Scared - Need Some Encouragement!
Great your ready to get started. Go see the Dr get a fill and start all over with liquids, mushies and then solids. Then make up your mind your gonna do it. You can do it you have already had a big taste of it and you want it. Go get it. Cheri- Need Long Walk Partner(S) League City Area
okay I know we have a lot of Houston Bandsters but I am out close to Galveston and want a walking buddy to do long walks on the weekends. It is not safe to go alone. I am talking like 6 miles or more once or twice a week and do the other nights on our own, I am willing to come closer up like League City or Clear Lake area for the long walks. Needs to be in a safe place Cheri- Walking Group In Katy, Tx
I like your Idea gonna try to find some people in my area too. Cheri - What Are The Most Common Sliders??
