how much did you loose first week post-op?
Count me in for 16 but I didn't have to do but a day pre op liquid diet so I think that might have something do to with it.

What I couldn't live without post-op
I was banded on 9/30 and recover is going really well. Lost 16 lbs so far. During the time working up to surgery I learned about putting a pillow on your stomach area to cushion against the seat belt. I couldn't find one that I liked. They all felt like they were going to smother me so I made my own. OMG! I could not have recovered so quickly without this pillow. I made it out of some fleece that was on sale and used the fluff out of a pillow that had seen better days. It's in the shape of a capital D. The flat edge I use just under by breasts and it fits comfortably from one side of my abdomen to the other. I really suggest everyone make one of these. I used it in the car on the way home, it is great now in the car since I just got my staples taken out and am a bit tender still, it also keeps my DH from throwing his arm over a tender tummy when I'm sleeping on my back. It helped me to cough and get up from the couch/chairs around the house the first few days. Really a lifesaver.

Last day of September...but still September!
How's your day of liquids going? I'm having to figure out if I really am hearing my stomach growl or if I'm imagining it. I can already see that the first week post-op is going to be tougher than I thought. Good luck tomorrow. Can't wait to hear how it goes for you.

Side benefits of surgery???
I'm still a few days pre-surgery but I will be ecstatic the night that I'm able to sleep on my back without feeling like I'm going to be suffocated by my "girls". They've forced me to become a tummy sleeper. :scared2:

Last day of September...but still September!
Katlyn- If you can make it through the pre op diet you can make it through anything! I think I'm lucky when I hear about all the other people that have weeks and weeks of liquids and here I am... only 1 day of liquids. Proceed with the lashing!

For Women- Underwire Bras
I'm so happy to hear that this was brought up. I'm five days till surgery and continually adding things to the list of stuff I have to have lined up for the week or so following. Sports bra is now added. Can't say I like them but at least it will work for now. Too top heavy to even think about going more than a day or two without... unless I want to start saving for an extra surgery to fix the girls.

Did you tell everyone or no?
I guess I'm one of the few that just can't stop telling people. I was in costco over the weekend getting my post op foods and the guy behind me jokingly said I didn't get enough food to warrent a cart. I told him I was getting ready for surgery... well we had a very nice convo about lap band. So when I say I'm telling everyone... really it is Every. One. I figure I'm so happy to be making such a good decision about my body for once that I need to make myself completely accountable.

LB Names?
Unfortunately couldn't keep that pup. She didn't get along at all with our coon hound. And trust me an upset coon hound has this amazing talent to whine in such a pitch it will make your ears bleed. So we found the new one a really good home... with my sister. So we still get to see her. She loves it there. So all is well.

LB Names?
Minxz- Love Shock Collar. Makes me laugh. I picture the first time we tried to use one with an unruly dog... her poor little face. lol (we stopped using it after that and I even returned the thing... before the peta folks start in) I figure it will be like getting an animal... you have to see it's personality before really finding a good name. I've only got 14 more days!
-
LB Names?
I was thinking more of the bands themselves instead of our screen names. Sorry if I was a bit vague earlier. lol. losing my mind in the days up to surgery.

LB Names?
Ok I have to admit that I'm a bit of a goofy kid most of the time and I've seen some people around here name their bands. I just love this idea. :mad2: So I'm asking you, those that have named your band to share the names with the rest of us. And if you have a special reason for the name please share too!

Blogs - Anyone wanna share theirs with me?
Oooo sign me up for a blog swap! I'm game. :mad2:

123crod- I'm so happy that you like your band. It reassures me that this is the right decision for me. smmajc11- Congrats! Sorry I can't help with the liquid diet. Luckly my surgeon said that I don't need to be on one before surgery. I keep reading on the boards and the folks on here are so full of help. Good luck!

How long did your process take to get approval?
Not Cigna. Federal BCBS Basic plan. Good luck all!

How long did your process take to get approval?
I think I just set a new record... my surgeon's office called me to tell me they were sending in the paperwork the afternoon of 9/3 (the thurs before labor day) and I was sent a letter dated 9/8 (the tues after labor day) saying I was approved!!!! My neighbors think I'm crazy... screaming and jumping around the mailbox like a crazy person.

Huge step for me!
The surgery coordinator just called me. The tentative November surgery date is now a solid SEPT 30!!!! WOW. I am so numb right now. I still have to get all of the other appts in but I can do it. She's sending off the ins paperwork today but she said that the company that I have is usually really good about getting back quickly and that she sees nothing that would stop them from approving me.
-
Huge step for me!
Thanks for all of the support. I really do enjoy reading the boards. They help so much. I don't think I would have come up with as many questions for the surgeon as I did without you guys! Juliansmom- Good luck with the pulmo tomorrow! My surgeon just moved here from the Philly area. Small world.

Huge step for me!
The appointment yesterday was really good. The office staff is so nice and it's a very supportive feeling they all give off. The surgeon was honest with the possible complications (he also added the chances as well as the "fix" for each if it were to happen) so that made me feel really comfortable with the decision. I got my questions answered and was really happy after I left. I found out that as long as I maintain my current weight I won't have to do any preop diet... just the nothing after midnight the night before kind of thing. So they sent me on my way with the information that I needed to set up a time to see the nutritionist (i have to wait a few days to call though) and that the psychologist would be calling me to make an appt. I was exhausted from the worry I put myself through so I went home and took a nap only to get a call from the phych office asking me if I could see the dr this Sat! This is all really falling into place. Hopeful surg date the first week of Nov. Sorry so long all.

Huge step for me!
I attended the info seminar on 8/3 and decided then that getting banded was for me. I went home and filled out the 9 pages of patient info, got my primary care dr the copy of the release (needed 5 yrs worth of history) to mail the surgeon a copy, and I've waited for what seems like forever. I know the calendar says that it's only been 18 days but it's been killing me. I finally got the call from the surgeon's office to sechedule my consultation. I figured it would be about 3 or more weeks from the time they finally called. Well I got the call today... my appointment is on Tuesday! Yes... that's three days from today! Not only that but the nurse told me that b/c of my insurance I do not have to come up with their office "program fee" of $500! So that's two great things in one day! I'm just so happy to finally start this journey and progress past the "thinking about it" phase. Just had to share! V

On-Q?
Thanks RM! I can always count on you to help me bumble my way through all of this knowledge! Sometimes I feel like I'm drowning in all of this info. lol
