  1. Congrats! I was banded just under 2 weeks ago. I can share some of what I experienced, but it is different person-to-person. My insurance required me to stay the night in the hospital. At first I was upset, but my incisions were pretty sore and having the hospital bed to get into and out of was nice as I had a lot of pain. My cousin had the surgery as well and she had no pain, she went back to work the next day.

The gas they inflate your abdomen with stays around for awhile. My shoulder and chest were very painful because of the gas, but no longer having issues with it (walking provided me the most relief from this pain).

I had family help me out...best decision ever!

Get a protein powder that you like (relatively speaking!) because you will be taking in a lot of it!

Don't be afraid to take pain meds if you need them.

Get lots of rest after surgery, your body will need it.

    Best of luck to you!

  2. I was banded just under 2 weeks ago. I had the same shoulder pain, it was horrible! I agree about taking your gas-x and sipping your liquids slowly. The other thing that really helped me was to walk, it helped me more than the gas-x.
