    Possible loss of coverage

Hello all... Thanks for taking a look at this.. Okay here I go.. First of all I am 27. (This will matter when you continue to read) I started this lapband journey about a year ago.. My insurance requires 6mo. supervised diet (as about all do). Well I had my consultation with my surgeon and he says that because of my PCOS I may only be able to lose 50 lb. He just wanted to know if I would be satisfied with that outcome. He continued to persue lapband for my surgical choice. My husband works in the "coal mining" industry and if anyone has watched the news, you can see that it will probably not be around in the future, meaning that we will NOT have the same insurance that approved the surgery in the first place. My biggest fears are.. 1. I have the lapband and lose little or no weight. 2. I am young, if complications occur after 10 years and I have another insurance company, they will not pay. 3. We may lose our current insurance before I get my first fill. (can't afford to pay out of pocket) With all of this said, let me know what you guys think.. I am considering the RXY due to the "less maintenance" of the course of a lifetime.. I know complications can ALWAYS happen but at least I won't have to count on the fills/unfills or the more common slips, erosion and port flipping..

    August 2009 bandsters?

Hi, it's Vanessa from WV.. I have been going at this for a year now.. I gained during my 6 month supervised diet so I was "kicked back to class" and told to lose 20 pounds. I went for my surgeon consultation and he was pleased to know that I had lost 25 pounds and bought a gym membership ( i go everyday, faithfully) I got the call @ work today that my paperwork had been submitted BCBS of KY and if we get an approval the surgery date will "probably" be sometime in August. Hopefully I will get to post a date within the next 2 weeks. (fingers crossed)
  6. sounds great... its always nice to have someone who understands what you are going through.. lol

Where ya from? I'm from WV

What insurance co. do you have? Highmark BCBS for me

  7. Thought we could keep in touch and keep each other updated on our progress.

I am also a "newbie" I went for my 2nd consultation today, I have lost a total of 25 pounds. We are now submitting to the insurance company for approval. I am nervous because I have never been in the hospital or put under for anything.. I can't wait to get started using my new "TOOL"!!
