  1. I am so sick today. Had diarrhea this morning, chills and a fever of 101 later in the day. And all I do is cough and cough and cough. Took 12 hour cough syrup cause I couldn't stand it anymore! I called my surgeon and he thinks I have a virus. Have been on the couch or in bed all day...feel like a truck hit me! Glad I have this week off from work; I'd never make it in.
  2. Hi, I'm Nancy from MA and I was banded August 4th. No gas pains at all. Still very sore at port site. I am constantly burping, so that must be from gas. Yesterday I had oatmeal with milk and added in a little applesauce to give it more flavor. Had about 6 tsp. of it...tastes yummy!I ate it because I had to get food in me; I do not feel hungry at all! Also walked my beagle yesterday a couple of blocks; have to do that every day and add more distance to build up my strength. Still feel sleepy. I'm out of work all this week so I can build up my strength and per surgeon's orders. This was so much easier than I thought it would be! Looking forward to helping each other!
  3. Day 4 post op! I am eating oatmeal with milk and threw in a little applesauce for more flavor. Finally something substantial to eat. Only had 6 or 7 teaspoons full, as I don't want to overdo it and I want to make sure it will stay down! Still hurtin' today at port site and I am so sleepy still!! But, I did take my beagle fora walk (2 blocks) to start building up my strength again. Glad I had this done; I know it will work for me!! Lost the 9 lbs. of fluid from the hosptial/surgery and I am back to me pre-op weight loss of 12 lbs. again....yipeeee!
  4. Hi Kristen! Read your blog...congrats on your engagement!! You get your band next week...yippeee! I'm on my 4th day post-op. It was so much easier than I had thought! Port site is sore and I am SO tired, but that's it. Glad you were able to meet someone who had your surgeon and hospital...great mentoring!
  5. Hang in there...each day gets easier!
  6. I too understand the coughing; I'm trying not to cause it hurts! I have been in the recliner alot too! Hang in there!
  7. Let me know how you are doing?? Good Luck!
  8. Oh, I am so sorry to hear how you are struggling with nausea and vomiting. I was ok...surgeon gave me so many anti-nausea drugs thru my IV, the nurse said. Plus I had a patch behind my ear. Hope it all passes for you soon!:wink2:
  9. What things r u eating when you cheat? I just kept telling myself that I do not want my surgeon taking me in the OR, and then finds he cannot do the surgery because my liver was not in the state he wanted! The more weight you lose on the pre-op diet, the liver shrinks, he told me! Hang in there!
  10. Hang in there, it's going to get easier! I have been sleeping half sitting up, cause that seems to not hurt as bad where my port is! Make sure you get some meds, so you don't have to suffer! I've been taking Davocet and that works for me. Keep in touch and let me know how you are progressing!:crying:
  11. You poor thing!:crying: I have no gas pains, the swelling in my stomach has gone down a little today (I only look 4 months pregnant instead of 8 months pregnant LOL) and I'm taking Darvocet for pain where the port site is very sore, etc. I don't see any bruising yet, maybe when the bandages fall off. Hang in there...for supper I had some tomato Soup and it stayed down no problem!!!
  12. Hi, This is Nancy from MA. I got banded Tuesday, August 4th. Day #2 home and have discomfort where my port is..so I am taking pain meds for it. Other than that just so sleepy! Finding it hard to get my liquids, etc in because I am not hungry or thirsty! How is every one else doing???
  13. Sara, how are you feeling?? I got banded the same day as you...I'm sore at the port sight and sleepy! It was a lot easier that I thought...how about you??
  14. Congrats Carrie! How do you feel? I got banded August 4th!
  15. Hi, how are you feeling??? I got banded on August 4th also!:sneaky: Where the port is it hurts, but other than that I am so sleepy!
  16. Day 2 home from getting banded. Slight discomfort, but still feel very very tired. My pillow is my best friend right now! How's everybody else doing?
  17. Jenny, how are u doing? I just cam home this morning from the hospital! I feel so wiped out from the anesthesia, but have very little pain. It was so much easier than I thought!
  18. Yippee! On day 9 of pre-op diet and have lost almost 11 lbs! It has not been easy, but I am determined to get banded and change my food behavior! I find I enjoy "smelling" everyone's food, even though I cannot eat it. Wierd! Tuesday is my surgery. I am very excited, but also a little nervous!
  19. knwitham, How is my Massachusetts buddy doing? I am on day 9 of my pre-op diet and have lost 11 lbs. Tuesday is my surgery date. I am nervous but also very excited at the same time! When do you start your pre-op diet?
  20. Jenny, You have your surgery the day before me!! I'm on August 4th. Thank you so much for the congrats and encouragement with the pre-op diet. Are you still hanging in there with yours? I find I am not hungry, but I am enjoying the "smell" of the foods around me...when I am able to eat again, I will definitely be savoring every bite! I have had no trouble giving up soda or chocolate, no cravings for them either. Bur I am craving SALT so much that last night I "licked" the salt off of ten pretzels and threw the rest of the pretzel out! How bad am I??? (LOL) Those of you have not done your pre-op diets make think I am crazy...but wait till you start yours...you'll understand!! (LOL)
  21. Hi, There is a thread that has been started for August 2009 bandsters. Please join us there...Just search for "August 2009 Bandsters" and it should bring you to our group. I'm Nancy from Massachusetts and I am being banded on August 4th by Dr.Adam Glasgow in Norwood, MA. I am on day 7 of my pre-op diet and have lost 8 lbs. already!
  22. I went to the support group session at Dr. Adam Glasgow's(my surgeon) office tonight, just to get some more feedback from other bandsters. There were 30 people there...pre-op and post-op. Well worth it; glad I went!!
  23. Hi Everyone! Well I'm almost done with Day 4 of my pre-op diet and I'm down 8 lbs already! Today was much easier...being at work helps me a lot. This is the first day I actually did not feel hungry. Don't know if it will be the same for you when you start your pre-op diets...or is there anyone in our group who does not have to do a pre-op diet??? (Lucky You!)
  24. Jenny how are you doing on the liquid diet????
