  2. 30 lbs

I can't believe it. I am down 30 lbs in less than 5 months! I no longer snore, I can exercise as much as I want without feeling like I am going to die. I can wear clothes that I thought I could never wear. I feel better about myself.

I believe I have restriction. I had my last fill on Wednesday, July 9th. I just started soft foods and def feel something :-)

I hope restriction will help me lose more, but to tell you the truth, if the LapBand merely kept the 30 lbs off that I have lost, I would consider the surgery a complete success!

I feel so much healthier and happier. I feel a bit selfish praying for restriction and begging God for more weight loss.

I am going to continue my journey, I want to feel what being normal feels like. But, I hope I can think about how much better life already is.

  3. 75% Full

Okay, so I had my 5th or 6th fill today. I was at 2.6CC in a 4CC Band. My Dr. requires a Barium Swallow before each fill. So, I went in, told the gal doing the Xray, that I have ZERO restriction. After the Swallow, she agreed, she pulled up the stills and showed how the liquid went straight through, it didn't slow down or anything. She also showed me how wide my opening is, she said most people the opening is so small it looks closed on the xray.

So, at this point I am getting a bit nervous thinking maybe I have a leak. I haven't really had any restriction ever - and I have had lots of fills.

I go in and sit on the table. Dr. Spiegel comes right in and said he just reviewed my xray and is amazed that I don't have any restriction yet. So, he starts to give me a fill and pulls out all the liquid to make sure there isn't a leak. There wasn't. All 2.6 was in there.

He said I am one of the few people that he has seen that has a super thin upper stomach. He gave me a whoppin' .4 to bring me up to 3CC. He said at this level that is a very liberal fill. He said for me not to worry, he has yet to find someone who he can't get as tight as they want.

So, I am on liquids for the next 3 days, then soft foods for 3 days. I can't wait to try and eat something to see if I have restriction!

Keep your fingers crossed for me, I don't want to be the first person who is filled to the brim and has 0 restriction! I like making headlines, but not like that!

  4. I am pretty much over it now, but I got sick over the 4th of July weekend - and couldn't go to the gym and workout. I usually go everyday, rarely missing 1 day a week. I missed 4 or 5 days in a row and it was SO hard going back.

I am doing the Couch to 5K program and I have to repeat week 1, I didn't get to finish it last week. I feel like such a loser!

Not really, I am just bummed that I am behind on working out. I can't believe I am saying this, coming from someone who NEVER workedout a day in her entire life! I can't believe how lazy I was!

I get my 5th or 6th fill tomorrow. I am really hoping for some real restriction. I have run out of willpower. I need some help. I can eat anything, just like before. I chew very well because I am scared of PBing, but tonight I had Ribeye steak, baked potato and corn on the cob. I still try to keep my calories low, but damn it is getting hard.

Please oh please let me get restriction tomorrow!
  5. I must be crazy!

Okay, so I have been working out at the gym everyday. I feel so good about myself that I am actually doing this and making an effort to lose weight.

    On to the crazy part.

I am trying, (note I said trying and not DOING) to do the Couch to 5K Program. Today was my first day and I feel like I am going to die.

Literally, my body would welcome death right now! The program starts you off with a 5 minute warm up walk, then you run 60 seconds, walk briskly for 90 seconds, run for 60, you get the picture. I downloaded the wonderful podcast so the guy tells you when to run and when to talk. The guy (insert sorry sob), in the middle of the run, says, in a calm soothing voice, you should be relaxed while running, you shouldn't be out of breath, you should be able to speak to someone next to you. Are you freakin kidding me? I couldn't have called out for help at that point!

I did it. I did the 1st day. I am supposed to do day 2 on Wednesday. I hope I can walk by then :-)

My lungs hurt, my hips hurt and I hate the man on the tape.

    How did your day go?

  6. Restriction Leaving

It was great while it lasted, almost a week! Since I canceled my Fill this week, my next one is July 9th. It seems really far away. But, I am resolved to workout more. I already go to the gym for 45 minutes a day 6-7 days a week. So, I figure I will try to increase that to an hour and half. Since I have such a hard time restricting myself to lower calories, I figure I will workout more.

The strange thing, I have never exercised in my entire life. I had childhood asthma really bad and couldn't jog for 10 feet. I also had severe sleep apnea, to the point I had a 5 hour surgery to correct it at 18. I was one of the rare cases that had Sleep Apnea at age 5.

The thought of exercising was always a joke to me. I didn't want to do it and I couldn't do it. So it never was an option. Now, I go, I work my butt off and I feel better. Don't get me wrong - I am counting down each minute while I am there . . . "come on Wendy, 1 more minute at this speed, then you can slow down some, only 2 minutes going backwards, then you can go forward . . . just a little more" Now, I don't know if that will ever go away or if that is how I will always feel about exercising, but either way, I will continue and feel better about myself for going.

Now if I can just get some help with food. I have a bodybugg and I count each and every calorie. I eat way too much 1200-1600 calories a day, but without restriction, this is just a diet . . . a diet I have been on for 4 months . . . a diet where I am still hungry when I eat the small Lapband amount . . . a diet where I feel deprived . . . a diet that I can't do for the rest of my life. So, my 1200 calorie limit gets thrown out the door and I usually hit 1500 a day. I still feel deprived on that. I guess eating 3500 calories a day for most of my life has taken its toll on my brain.

I won't let myself go crazy, I will keep it around this calorie limit until I get restriction. The week I had restriction - I had no problem keeping it below 1200. Ahh, what bliss.

12 more days till my fill.

  7. Well, as those that follow my blog know, I have had fill after fill and no restriction. My last fill was May 29th and nothing. UNTIL . . . last Friday. Normally, I feel a little restriction first thing in the morning, not enough to stop me from eating, but some. Then nada the rest of the day. So, normal day, I had spicy V-8 juice for breakfast, went to the gym with a friend. Afterwards we decided to go for Mexican Food. So, I ordered Grilled Chicken Nachos. Now, a week ago, I could have eaten the entire plate and would have eaten 1/2-3/4 the plate (showing some restraint
. I ate maybe 4 bites and felt stuffed. At first it scared me, I was like, uh-oh, I must have taken too big a bite, but nope. I was just really full.
I kept thinking it was probably a fluke. That evening, I could eat almost like normal, but a little bit of restriction.

Day 2 - Saturday. We had a birthday party for my Godson (he is 2 and too freakin cute). We had hotdogs, chips and cake. So, I ate some Cheetos while the hot dogs were cooking. Got my hot dog, sat down, took 3 bites BAM, I was full! It was awesome. However, it didn't stop me from having a slice of cake about an hour later, but I felt that same full feeling again after the cake (and it was a very small piece).

So, I have a Dr.s appt this Wednesday for a fill. I just called the office and told them my story to see if I needed to cxl my appt or keep it. They told me to keep the appt and see how I feel that morning. (I thought that was super nice of them, I was trying to give them time to fill the appt slot). So, I will keep it and cxl that day if it stays this good.

I feel like the luckiest girl ever. I was kinda thinking that I would never get restriction and be a lapband failure.

  8. My New Hairdo

Okay, so today I decided to dye my hair really dark. My mom has given me an incentive to lose weight, when I first got the band, she said when I lost 50lbs, she would take me to my favorite salon, have my hair cut, dyed and styled on one condition. That I go blonde. Who can turn down a 200$ hair change? I know I sure can't. I absolutely love to have my hair done. So, I decided since I still have 23lbs to go, I would go really dark for now, so the contrast is greater.

I am including 2 pictures, one where you can see the reddish/purplish color and 1 just because I think it makes me look skinnier!

I will admit ahead of time, I took 35 pictures of my hair to get 2 that I felt okay with to post. I have a LOT of time on my hands.

  9. Pictures

When I get worried that I am not losing very much weight, losing too slow, or that I can't see a difference in the mirror, I get dressed in an outfit that I couldn't wear a few months ago. Take a few pictures and compare. It really helps to see them side by side to see a difference. I encourage EVERYONE to take lots of pictures before banding so that you have great pics to compare with.

Take pictures every few weeks. It is kinda like a picture journal.

Some of these pictures are just 1 good picture of me and a bunch of fat pics. That way I could sit at the computer and just stare at the old ones and compare each one to the new one.

  10. I snore no more!

I can't believe it. I had SEVERE sleep apnea and had surgery to correct it back in ~1994. It was a wonderful success, however, about 2 years ago, I was battling Strep throat and Bronchitis and was SUPER sick for about 2 weeks. I started grinding my teeth, talking in my sleep and snoring. When I got better, the talking and grinding stopped, but the snoring continued.

I hate to snore, it is so embarrassing. However, my husband told me that I haven't snored in a WEEK!

    Can I get a hoorah!

  11. Boredom

I never realized how much I eat when I am bored. I only get bored in the evening. I need to find something to occupy my time. I am trying to workout in the evening, but sometimes it is just so much easier to do in the mornings.

I work from home, so I am always here and always 5 steps from the fridge. HOWEVER, I am fine during the day. But man oh man, when the evening gets here, I find myself standing in the kitchen just looking for things to eat and of course they are never good. Thankfully they are at least low-cal. I have pretty much changed everything out, but 3 bags of 100 calorie snacks is still 300 calories you know what I mean?

  12. I have had 4 fills and still have no restriction. Up until a month ago, I was doing really well. Eating all the right things (in the right amounts). I started working out. I go EVERY day - and for 3 weeks, nothing, I didn't lose 1 lb. I got discouraged and started eating more - and now I just can't seem to stop.

I have an appointment for my 5th fill on the 25th of this month. I can feel some restriction in the morning - but by lunch, it is if I have no band at all. I am starting to get worried - because I know me and after a few months on a diet - I lose the willpower, as I am doing now. I just hope I can hang in there for a couple more weeks and not gain any between now and then.

I know it takes a while to get to your sweet spot, but I never really thought I would feel like such a failure for not being able to control what I eat. I am very disappointed in myself. Everyday I tell myself, tomorrow, I am going to eat healthy, stay within my calories and follow all the band rules. But when lunch hits, I eat my small amount of food on the plate and sit and wait and hope for any feeling of fullness, or just for the hunger to go away. It doesn't I end up eating more, then feeling bad and eating even worse later because of that.

Tomorrow is another day. I will eat healthier, stay within my calories and follow all the band rules.

    But tonight . . .
    Where's the Thin Mints!

Oh and I still go to the gym EVERY day. I never thought I would be able to do that.

  13. Okay, so I am dealing with blisters on my heels for the first time I can remember. (I wasn't too active up to this point). I joined the gym and am having a blast until the dreaded Blister.

First, let me introduce you to the cause of the problem. My new shoes (which I really liked before they decided to rub me the wrong way - hehe).

They are from New Balance and are actually pretty comfy. I paid $35.00 for them at TJ MAX. I am not going to hold this against them for long - everyone needs a second chance.

My blister is not too pretty. I got it last week - and haven't been able to do the treadmill because of it. The picture was taken today, I think 5 or 6 days after it showed up.

So, thanks to everyones suggestions, I went to Walgreens to see if they had Band-Aids for Blisters and they did! I bought them and a Blister Block Stick. It is supposed to slick up your heel so that there is no friction, thus, no blister.

I tried them today and was able to workout like normal. It still felt a little tender, but it was do-able.

The Band-Aid Blister Covers were $4.99 and the Band-Aid Blister Block was $6.99. I would suggest them to everyone - I wished I would have known about them before the "incident"

  14. Fill Number 4

I had my 4th fill yesterday, I now have 2.6 in a 4 CC band. I don't know if I have any restriction because I am on liquids, but I sure hope I do. I can't wait to join the ranks of the restricted!

My Dr. now requires a Barium swallow before each fill. A lot of people are throwing a fit and not going. There is a $50.00 fee for the Barium Swallow and I think that is pretty fair. I know I would rather be on the safe side and make sure there are no problems before he makes me tighter. I really liked seeing the xray too.

This fill didn't hurt at all - and I am scared to death of needles. Something about the stomach - makes it not hurt.

I am so hungry. I know that Slim Fast has enough nutrients to keep you healthy, but man do I want something with some substance. I hope that isn't a sign that I don't have restriction. I know a lot of people say they aren't hungry the day of a fill.

I should know in a few days if I have restriction - and trust me, you guys will be the first to know!

  15. The Dog Show was a BLAST

He all, sorry it has been so long since my latest post, I went to National's last week in Oklahoma and had so much fun!

I entered Piper (the diva in my avatar) in the Best of Breed Ring. This competition is only for dogs that already have their Championship, and the Winners for the day, there were over 50 of us.
    WE WERE THE ONLY CHOCOLATE!!!
They had to bring us into the ring in small groups to narrow down the selection because there were so many of us. We made the CUT! I was just thrilled! Piper got lots of nice comments. Unbeknownst to her dad (my hubby), he bought her a new snuggle sack for making the cut. :-)

We didn't take too many pictures - they have a professional DVD of the entire competition that we buy, it will take a couple of months before I get it, but I will make sure to post a clip of it.

  16. Tricrare Manual

Just in case anyone wants to take a copy of the Changes regarding Lapband to their Dr.s appointments, here is the link to the PDF file - it is quite awkward to manipulate - so I copied and pasted the text into this post also.

    Tricare Manual

Once it pulls up, choose "Section Affected by Change 66" Then Download the one named "C4S13_2".

I also saved it as an attachment at the bottom - I hope it works.

  17. Made it on TV!

This has nothing to do with being banded, but last night my hubby and I took my mom to Barnes and Nobles to a book signing with Laura and Jenna Bush (we are total Republican Dorks). We originally only got 2 wrist bands to enter and them my mom found out and wanted to go, so I gave her my wrist band. So, I was going just to watch and take pictures. Some NICE lady gave me a band when I got there - so I got to go in. We stood in line forever and finally got up there. They were so nice and SO beautiful. I guess I was starstruck, they spoke to us like we were old friends. I was totally impressed.

So, we noticed cameramen everywhere - not nearly as many as Secret Servicemen. Wow - talk about hot! But anyway, when we got home, we sat down to watch the news and there we were! They filmed us standing in line!

Oh, and TV does add 10lbs hehe.

The first picture is of my Mom and My Hubby standing in line (you can see a Secret Service Dude in the background) And the Second picture is a distant shot of Laura and Jenna.

  18. Nationals Bound

I have been planning and packing and giddy with excitement. Amy, one of my Dog Show buddies will be here this evening with Keela, her show dog. We will be driving out tomorrow morning - at the butt crack of dawn. :-) Headed to Oklahoma City and the Miniature Pinscher National Show.

Piper is so excited, she knows something is going on she just doesn't know what. She sees me getting all of her show gear out - but she hasn't been groomed yet - so she is a bit confused.

We are staying from Sunday to Friday - and most of it is pretty dressy, so I have a ton of clothes to take - then of course, the dogs have their own entourage of luggage and accessories. So we will have 1 packed vehicle.

We will be showing on Wednesday (I believe), so wish us luck.

I have packed all of my workout clothes - they have a huge gym - so hopefully I will find time to workout. It won't all be fun and games, I work from home - so I will be working from the Hotel while I am there - so it should be pretty darn busy.

I will take lots of pictures to post when I return. Hope everyone has a wonderful week!

  19. I am so stinking proud of myself I can't stand it! I am now a member of Gold's Gym. I started going last week with my girlfriend (had a free week going with her) However, she could only go twice - so after much complaining, the hubby said to do it.

I did. I talked them into only a 1 year contract. Currently they only do 2 year contracts at 19.99 a month. Well, there is no way I am going to commit to a 2 year contract. This is my first time to ever be a gym rat, and who knows how long it will last. As the hubby says, I am very fickle.

So, I begged and pleaded and they let me sign a 1 year contract at 24.95 a month. I think that was pretty fair.

Tonight was my second night to go in a row - and of course, today I went and bought workout shoes (because I had none), sure enough I am now the proud owner of a quarter sized blister on my right heel. This sucks!

I have been researching ways to keep from getting blisters and to help them go away sooner. Any idea how long I need to stay off of it - I am dying to go back tomorrow - any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

  20. So I went to the gym

Okay, so I went to the Gym with my BFF tonight and it felt really good. I did the bike for a while, then the treadmill for 20 minutes (a little over a mile), then some arm thingy. (Can you tell I am NOT a gym rat?)

I am already a bit sore, I guess I shall see how I feel tomorrow. I may be pissed at the world - and mad at Molly for inviting me. Oh what tomorrow brings.
  21. 20 lbs down

I woke up this morning to a total loss of 20lbs! I am so excited, this was a mini-goal of mine. I can't wait to get some restriction - I thought I had some with my last fill, but now I am thinking I don't. Hopefully when I get some, I won't have to try so hard.

I am counting calories (every single solitary calorie), exercising and keeping a 1000 calorie a day deficit (THANKS to my BodyBugg). It would be SO nice to get really full when I eat and to not be hungry again in a couple of hours. I have my fingers crossed!

  22. The Crawfish Festival

Yesterday was beautiful, bright and sunny with a nice breeze. We, hubby, myself, my nephew Josh and his girlfriend Kristen all headed out to the opening weekend of the Crawfish Festival.

Now, I had a fill a few days ago so I am on liquids and couldn't partake in the yummies that everyone else did. However, I did suck on a piece of grilled Chicken. Yumm!

We really enjoyed the festivities - we even talked Kristen into riding a mechanical bull - she did really well. We all got a bit sunburned - of course me more than all else - must be some of my German blood coming out.

I was sure hoping I would lose quite a bit on liquids - but once again, my body just holds onto those damn liquids. Oh well. I am on soft foods now, so hopefully I will lose more this week. I am still loving my BodyBugg and actually enjoying counting calories and watching my progress.

  23. Cat Food Commercial

Okay, I had a fill yesterday, so I was on liquids all day yesterday, today and for the next 2 days. I am so hungry I can't think straight. It has to be my head - I have had like 800 calories with Slim Fasts, strained soups, milk, etc. So, I know I am not starving.

I was reading some of the forums and could hear a commercial on the TV and thought wow, that sounds so good . . . fresh Tuna, whitefish, herbs - it was a damn Cat Food Commercial. Ugh! My head isn't functioning right.

Of course tomorrow is the first day of the Crawfish Festival, so we are all going out for the day - talk about a food fest and I won't be taking part in any of it. Maybe I could lick the spices off! Sigh, just a few more days - it has never been this hard. Damn my head!
