    No where else to turn.

Definitely keep on with the insurance company! Find out what they require to be approved. Mine required a 6 month Dr. supervised diet, my medical records for the past 3 years, a psch evaluation, and a letter of recommendation from my Dr. They declined me the first time I submitted, but then after re-doing the Dr. supervised diet they approved me. It took me a little over a year to get approved, but I kept on keeping on! I wish you the best of luck and please do not ever give up!
  8. Thanks! I will ask them to draw some out to see if all is OK. I have heard others say they had that done. I don't see HOW it could hurt me because I don't feel anything anyway. Or hardly ever. I am just sort of resigned to the fact that I just won't. I am pretty sure they have never drawn any of mine out. I have watched. I will tell them to keep putting it in but I gotta be near the top. Wonder how much saline the line from the port to the band actually holds. Gotta be a ML or two as long as it is. An ml is not much at all. I see them(mls I mean) at school all the time so I know. Let's keep in contact OK?? I did start using the food tracker yesterday that is on the lap band site, it is fit.com or something. it is amazing and I think it will help me prove to them too! Plus I like the adding of the fitness items. You keep up your good work too now! Because of others kindness I am keeping on keeping on!

  9. Hang in there! It's so upsetting to me to hear of your struggles. The whole point of you having this done was to feel restriction so you don't eat too much and still feel full. Please go to that Dr. appointment and be adamant about your concerns. Tell them your not leaving until you have some answers your comfortable with! Please ask him to withdraw the saline in your band just to check to see if you have all in there you are supposed to. Then tell him you want more in there. I wish you the best of luck and pray that soon you will be happy with your decision again!

  10. Thanks for your encouragement on my blog. I have looked at some of the other docs in this area. I cannot find any feedback on them doing any differently than mine. Also there is the big mess of insurance coverage. So far, a lot of my band stuff has been covered. I am going in for my one year check up next Monday. I sure thought I would be a lot farther along than this. Who knows what they will say?? I hope you feel LOTS of GREAT restriction. I just never have..... you keep on doing well now....

  11. Thanks for your words of wisdom! I might take you up on your offer and send you a couple of questions as they come!

    Congrats on your success!

Can anyone answer some questions for me???

I felt fine, just a little groggy after surgery. I was out patient and was home in my recliner 4 1/2 hours after being banded. The most difficult part for me was getting up from the toilet after surgery, those stomach muscles were really sore. You will be sore for 3-5 days, but it is completely manageable! The Dr. gave me Liquid Lortab for the pain. I had more than enough to last me. Not sure if that would help with your migraines but you should certainly talk to your Dr. about it. Do you take Imitrex? I'm sure you would be able to take an Imitrex shot if you needed. You can not feel the band around your stomach! You wouldn't know it was there except for the fact that you can't eat as much. I'll be 3 months post-op as of July 9th. I'm still learning to break old habits, but I'm averaging 2 pounds lost per week. So far so good! I absolutely would have no reservations about doing this again! Good Luck! If you have any other questions feel free to send me a message!

    Discouraged...

I struggled too! I only lost 1 pound between my 1st and 2nd fill! I had no restriction what so ever and was probably eating more than I should have. I was also walking 3-4 times per week. My dietitian said that I was gaining muscle mass by walking and since muscle weighs more than fat, I wouldn't see a big loss. After my 2nd fill though, I have enough restriction that I'm seeing the weight drop now. Your body may also have hit a plateau, and will start dropping again soon. Hang in there and keep doing what you're doing!

Just read and replied to MY FORUM--the STRUGGLERS!!

O.K. look I'm going to be completely blunt here. Your nurse and Dr. are full of SHIT! You should absolutely feel restriction! You need to find a new Dr.! When was the last time you had a fill? Have they ever checked to see if you for sure have 7cc in your band? I've heard of people and have a close friend that has lost fluid from their band. She thought there was 6cc in there and when they withdrew the fluid there was only 4.5. From your previous Blogs it sound like you have an uncaring, piss poor Dr and I would definitely look elsewhere! There's no sense in you feeling this frustrated when you've been through so much! Hang in there!
