  1. I was banded 10/15 -- have lost 30#. Also did NOT do pre surgery special diet of any kind .. My biggest problem is exercise .. Both knees are bad , one already replaced ( not a good outcome) and I refuse to have the other done. I still use a walker on cold or rainy days . Once weather warms up, I WILL be out walking , with or without the walker. I figure any walk is better than none . BTW Stacy, Congrats on your great weight loss !!!
  2. I had the choice of staying overnight or going home . I stayed overnight and am glad I did, it gave me a full day of rest after my surgery and the nurses were wonderful. The surgical center allowed visitors early evening and even allowed our 3 year old grandson to come for a visit . I really think the overnight stay is a good thing ..
  3. I lose less on liquid diet than I do on mushies or "real" food " Was banded Oct 15-- am down 30#. Had 1 fill of 1.5cc on Dec8-- had to have .5cc removed Dec 23.. Could NOT keep anything solid down . I am going to try to schedul a 2nd fill for Jan 11. Keep your fingers crossed for me ..
  4. I say call your doctor .. Even after a fill of 1.5cc I could drink liquids..
  5. I am hurgry all of the time now .. Had to have 1/2 cc removed just before Christmas.. Was not able to kkep anything down.. Now I am looking at food all the time,, even the dog food is getting a second glance.. Not due for next fill until Feb
  6. I had port area pain ( just minor) for about a month after surgery. Now2 months out , it is fine .
  7. We had a Christmas dinner at a local restaurant .. I ordered a Caprese Side salad Fresh Mozzarella slices layered with baby spinach, ripe tomatoes, and fresh basil with Kalamata olives, drizzled with extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. A couple of people asked if that was all I was ordering , I told them it was all I wanted .. When in fact I really was wanting some of the pizza and garlic bread that they had ordered . Wanting and indulging are 2 different things.. So now , I do what is best for me and after a while it will be such a part of my life that I won't even think about it ..
  8. Didn't even think to ask when he did it ..
  9. I had my first fill on 12/8-- since then anything I eat , comes right back up.. I just tried to eat ONE steamed sea scallop and am in pain (AGAIN).. Is this normal for almost 2 weeks post fill??? My doctor is in Texas ( 7 hours from here)
  10. I had my first fill 9 days ago , and as of this morning I am still on mushies.. I managed to eat about 2/3 of a scrambled egg and that is it .Wondering if it is normal to still have this much restriction after your first fill???
  11. Banded (LapBand)Oct 15-- had 1st fill Dec 8. Down 27# so far.. I have found that bacon is not my friend anymore .My no-no list is growing every week, oranges, french toast, breads, and pork loin. Right now I would slap somebody for a bottle of Sierra Mist.. I MISS CARBONATION !!!! But I get over these wants when I get dressed in the morning and my pants are loose and I can use the 2nd set of hooks on my bra instead of the first set.
  12. Bread of any kind and BACON .. I thought I was going to end up in the ER after 1/2 piece of bacon. After my 1st fill 6 days ago, I am back on mushies.. Tried to eat salmon last night and had to make a beeline for the ladies room at the restaurant.
  13. I just had my first fill last week.. so liquid in liquid out .. But it still hurts !!!!
  14. I have some kind of stomach thing going on..vomiting so hard by back & ribs hurt.. There is a stomach virus going around the area.. I am a 7 hours drive from my doctor .. Question: Will this vomiting screw up my band ???
  15. I tried fish the first day -- BIG no-no.. I am still on liquids/mushies 4 days later. I did have some mashed potatoes (very thinned )last night - but today has been soup, jello and protein drink.. I don't want that kind of pain again..
  16. I wish I could eat nuts !!! They make me double over in pain since being banded .. Prior to banding I ate walnuts and almonds almost daily.
  17. Biotin is an essential water-soluble B Vitamin. The name biotin is taken from the Greek word bios meaning "life." Without biotin, certain enzymes do not work properly and various complications can occur involving the skin, intestinal tract, and nervous system. Metabolic problems including very low blood sugars between meals, high blood ammonia, or acidic blood (acidosis) can occur. Death is theoretically possible, although no clear cases have been reported. Biotin deficiency is extremely rare. This is because daily biotin requirements are relatively small, biotin is found in many foods, and the body is able to recycle much of the biotin it has already used. Do an online search for Biotin and 1,000's of places will pop up offering to sell you this product.
  18. Had my first fill last week.. The anticipation was 1000 worse than the actual fill.. Nothing to it .. I am sooo relieved . I hate being back on the liquids, but this to will end soon. Since being banded , I notice that I must be sitting staight up when I am eating . If I don't I have INTENSE pain.. Grandma always told me to sit like I had a broom handle stuck in the back of my shirt.. I guess she knew what she was talking about .
  19. Way of life --- eating less- enjoying it more ... At thanksgiving dinner , I loaded my plate with what I thought I wanted and could eat. about 1/2 way thru .. I was done . Wahooo- my brain is learning !!!
  20. Thanks for the info.. They will not have a hard time finding my port .. It is very visible.. I wonder if that is normal?? Plus I am soo sad, I gain 1.5 pounds over the holiday .. That is what happens when you don't stay home ..
  21. My first fill is next week.. I am not able to sleep on my side and I am not able to sit in a chair and lean over to pick something up without being in pain.. Is this NORMAL ????
  22. The bacon was going to be a treat .. It is not something I do everyday ...
  23. Thanks for the bacon info-- I'll pick some up today ..
