I paid for my nutrionist eval, Tricare Prime paid for everything else as far as pre-op (cariologist/psych eval/surgeon consult) provided you get referrals from PCM for in-network specialists. Of course you pay your co-pay. Did not require the 6 month diet just wanted to know that you have tried different ways to lose over the years. WOO! HOO! I got my approval yesterday 7/14/09!! I have Tricare Prime - South and it only took 2 days!!! Hey drkangel101, Did you get banded with Dr. Duncan? How was your experience? Peactree Surgical and Bariatrics just submitted my packet to my insurance carrier for approval. I am very excited. I briefly met Dr. Duncan at his seminar, finished my pre-op requirements in record time and looking forward to my consult. His office's approach is different in you having to have everything done and submitted before he sees you but I understand he just wants to see those that are truely serious about the surgery. I would love to hear your thoughts.

I researched a few surgeons in Atanta and decided on Dr. Titus Duncan (Peachtree Bariatrics & Surgical) for one because he is in my network and two is one of the best in the industry. I read the earlier post about his process being patient driven and the comment following that something was wrong with that approach, but I found it is wonderful! Patient driven means it is up to you the patient to get all the pre-op done and show that you are really serious about the surgery. Why waste a physician's time with consultations to only back out. I am driven so I guess this appealed to my need to feel somewhat in control. 6/20/09 Seminar 6/22/09 Met with PCM 6/23/09 Nutrion Evaluation 6/24/09 Psych Evaluation 6/25/09 Cardiologist EKG/Stress Test 7/10/09 Packet submitted to insurance for approval I have Tricare Prime - South and what I have heard is the approval should be pretty quick. My coordinator at PSB instructed me to check with Tricare around Wed. 7/15. I am trying not to be so anxious but know that once I get the approval I will still have a little bit more waiting because Dr. Titus' surgery schedule stays pretty full.

mom2boys3 do you have tricare or tricare prime? I wasn't aware of 2 visits to the Nurtrionist.

Hypertension is still covered! WOO! HOO! You had me really scared!!! If you have no comorbilities you will have to be 200% over your ideal weight. It's a shame but you may need to gain some weight. I pray that everything works out for you. Be optimistic, everything will work out.

Hi, I too live in Atlanta and am looking into the lap band and per your post you had a quick approval with Tricare Prime which I also have. Who was your surgeon? How did it go?
