  1. Man am I glad I see some progress! Finally got to adjust my weight loss ticker today for the very first time by 8.2 pounds as a result of 4 days of Protein shakes and low carbs. But I am sooooo hungry:( I think it is slowly getting better with each day, but these first few days are ROUGH!! My surgeon told me I didn't have to start my preop till after the 4th of July clebration... how nice, except the lovely midwest weather caused our celebration to be postponed until the 5th:( I sucked it up and did all liquids on the 5th during the party. SOOO HARD! 4th of July is when the family brings together their yummiest summertime recipes *tear*. BUT... I got on the scale this morning and I'm down 8.2 pounds! I really needed this to keep me going. I sure hope it gets easier though:bored:
  2. I hope it all went smooth for you girls!! You are on your way! The very best of luck to you both:=)
  3. Don't feel lonely darlin!!! We are all here with you, no matter what day it is:)
  4. sorry i didn't get to post the pureed recipes last night...but wil get them to you tonight! boy i can't wait to even eat mushee food right now :{
  5. This has helped so much! Thank you all!!
  6. Welcome! Great to have you. Everyone on this sight has been so understanding and supportive for me. Iknow you will feel the same. My surgery is July 13th. Good luck to both of us:=)
  7. chrystinaw- if you have tricare prime, you will need to get it (sleep study) approved, but if you have tricare standard you can go have the study without a tricare referral or approval. -kat
  8. HSJ- Thank you so much! I do have good news though, i did get approved and my surgery date is July 13th :=). I will still be hitting my low carb diet for preop (and postop of course) and coming here for inspiration from folks like you and Jason!! Thank you!!
  9. WTG Jason!!!! You are an inspiration! Keep up the good work, and let us all know when you get your surgery date :=)
  10. I had this same question so i called tricare for clarification: 254-282 is the range you need to fall in to qualify as 200% or more for your height, med frame (basicaly over 254). So yes. If you are twice as much as your ideal weight...you ae 200% or more. hope this helps:)
  11. I am helping my brother through this process (I have Tricare and am approved for surgery July 13)... he has Blue Cross Blue Shield FEP (Federal Employee Program). Does anyone know if they cover lap band? Does anyone know know where I can find info on their requirements if they do? I went to their website and was unable to find the info he needs. He has spoken to a surgeon who sent him to a nutritionist to lose some weigh first. Right now that is all he knows or has done. I also sugested he jointhis site:) Thanks for any info out there!!! -kat
  12. i'm sure others will appreciate this Greta. There is nothing worse than docs who prey on those of us who are so desperate to get thinner/healthier:( I do hope you have great success!!!
  13. christinaw- 254-282 is your new "range" for meeting te 200% for Tricare. At 275 you are considered within the 200% range (i spoke to Tricare about this because I was using their 100 lbs over w/2 comorbids requirements and fell in the middle of the range myself) They will also likely approve you without comorbids since you meet the 200% requirement. Also...just as an fyi - TRicare seems to approve it quickly if sleep apnea is present. have you ever had a sleep study? Many of us have it without even knowing it due to our weight. Tricare covers sleep studies. Good luck to you!!
  14. i don't know if you feel comfortable with the idea, but perhaps sharing who your surgeon is on this site so that others might avoid this situation? i will just cry if my surgeon pulls this on me. my surgery is July 13th, and i have not been informed of a fee like this at all. i am assuming my insurance is covering it all (that is what my surgeon's coord stated anyway). i hope you have great success so that this fee becomes worth it for you..i'm sure that it will
  15. good luck to you! come back and let us know how you make out
  16. i have not had the shoulder pain but my surgeon warned me of it. he said that if it appens, to try to force myself to get up and walk around...kind of bounce that gas out of that pocket. of course talk to your doc,and for now also check your pulse and blood pressure just to rule out of course any heart issue. i do hope you feel better soon!
  17. i know this is kind of off the subject of this thread, but Restless- do you use a kitchen scale pretty regularly?? does this help to figure out how much i can handle eating/preparing?
  18. they approved me within a week.. and I am July 13th also! good luck to both of us.....ALL of us:) !!!!! Please let me know how you make out!!!
  19. Thanks! This is just the kind of stuff that will help us all get through it. In just a few days i got good puree recipees, advice on reducing the surgical scars, treatment for post surgery gas discomfort, and now good protien shake recommendations. thanks to all of you for posting your advice :=) !!
  20. i would say these symptoms will help you get approved...definately comorbidities. i am sorry things are not healthy for you right now, but am glad you are here and working toward lapband. keep us posted and good luck to you!!
  21. good stuff catherine55. i'm gonna check out the epidermis. thank you!!!
  22. keep a record for a day and ask your surgeon or nutritionist to reveiw it to make sure it is what you should be doing. It sounds like you are doing great, but if you are concerned... i would follow the doc's direction. you should be proud of yourself for sticking to it!! Way to go!!!
  23. that sounds really good emmylou!!!
  24. Congrats!!!!!!!!!! I am also a teacher and hope to be a bit smaller before going back in August!!! My surgery is July 13th. Good luck to all of us:=) You'll do great!!
  25. my surgeon's nutritionist on staff will be giving me some puree recipees so perhaps you can do the same. i will log back on here if he gives me some good ones and share them with you. otherwise try posting this in the "post-op" forum. maybe you'll get more ideas there from those who are doing that diet now. good luck!!!
