Does Anyone Use Bariatric Advantage Products?
I purchased 2 bottles of the multi vitamins in mixed berry and calcium in cinnamon and chocolate. I do not like either. They have this fizzing like sensation going on and they taste very chalky. UGH!!! I'm stuck with them. I ordered online from Bariatric Advantage. They will not take opened bottles back and if you have unopened items, there is a 15% restocking fee. That with the cost of return shipping was not worth sending it back. It's great that some doctors offer samples. My doctor sells the products, but I didn't think to ask for samples.

Nectar Protein..has anyone tried it?
Thanks everyone. I ordered a sampler of 11 different flavors for $9.99. I will try all of them and come back and post my opinion of the flavors. I was told by the sales rep to mix with water. I was wondering if it could be mixed with milk in order to make it thicker? I would also like to add frozen fruit if that does not make the taste overbearing.

why 24 hours
OMG!!! You are so right. That is pure torture. I thought my plan was strict. It's a walk in the park compared to that.
-
why 24 hours
My doctor's requirements are: 3 days following a fill,Clear Liquids only, days 4-6 soft foods, day 7 normal foods. How does JayTee's story measure up to that? I am curious. My first fill is on 6/30/09.

why 24 hours
What is painful? Getting fills or going back to liquids for a few days?

Nectar Protein..has anyone tried it?
I am looking for a decent tasting protein. I ordered Unjury and do not like it. Now I am stuck with 2 canisters that will not be used. It cost an arm and a leg to ship back so I will keep it. Any suggestions?

Share ideas, What did you eat today ?
Thank you. The casserole sounds good. I have tried the Unjury protein and I do not like it at all. Do you mix your protein with milk or water and do you put fruit in it? I'm looking for something that I can stick with.

Anyone else out there OK with losing slowly with an unfilled or small filled band?
I completely agree with you. I am 18 days post op and have lost nearly 12 pounds. I could not do that before, no matter what diet I was on. I too will be happy with 1 or 2 fills. I did not get the band to become model thin. I got the band so that I could control my weight, get off of the HBP meds and decrease my chances of diabetes. I am geneticlly predisposed for those diseases. I took a proactive stance against my ever increasing weight. Someone in an earlier post stated how some banders vomit, pb and slime their way through the weight loss. That is not how I want to spend my journey. I am able to stop eating when my body tells me and I am making healthier choices. I'm cooking all of my meals instead of eating out 5 days a week. I am rediscovering the taste of foods that are not fried and am enjoying my meals. I eat slower and savour eat bite all the while, I am losing weight. Thanks for this thread.

Does anyone measure food?
Thanks for the suggestions everyone. I will measure so that I will not stretch my pouch. I almost ordered a $40.00 plate that was sectioned into proper portions when I realized those portions are not for the banded people. Beautiful my soft foods consist of fish, fish and more fish. I have it for dinner every night. I love it. I've also had refried Beans and cheddar, applesauce, yogurt and s/f Jello. I am not really into mashed potatoes or eggs for that matter, but those foods are all on the list my doctor gave me. Good luck and thanks for the advice.

Does anyone measure food?
I start solids in 3 days. I am beginning to get hunger pains. I do not get my first fill until 6/30/09. I'm afraid to gain back what I lost. Does anyone measure your food in order to stay on track or do you just eat until you think you are full?

Cheese
Processed cheese is like velveeta and cheez whiz. Non processed cheese is hard cheese whether its still in blocks or sliced. Hope this helps.

lap band pain after surgery
I'm 16 days post op and I am still pretty sore to the touch around the port area. I am a tummy sleeper, but have been sleeping on my back since the surgery. I think it's ok to report how you really are feeling because I think it helps others in the future. I do not think its whinning if you are hurting. We have undergone a traumatic experience and I think we try to diminish that to appease those around us. I let my family and friends know that I am still in some discomfort. They have all been very understanding. Your body will heal. I am gaining my strength as the days go by. I still have some gas pains although not as bad.

I'm missing veggies
Thanks everyone. I should not complain. I am losing weight and I couldn't be happier about that. I found carrot juice today. It was spiked with papaya and mango juices. I had 4 ozs of that for breakfast this morning. I can't indulge too often. It is loaded with calories. My doctor would not be happy knowing that.

Suggestions for Pureed Foods?
This worked for me. I hope this helps. My family had baked chicken for dinner one evening and there were leftovers. The next day I opened a can of chicken broth and placed it in a pot with one piece of chicken. I added garlic powder and dried parsley. I let that simmer for 15-20 minutes. I then strained the broth. The broth was much more flavorful. I was able to get through the phase without any problems. Remember to strain the broth before consuming. Any tiny chicken pieces must be discarded.

I'm missing veggies
I am really missing veggies. I am in the soft food phase and have eaten refried beans and cheddar for lunch and baked fish for dinner. This is only my 2nd day in this phase. I am trying not to eat more than 3 ozs at each meal. How in the world am I suppose to get me veggies in? I am afraid to overeat. My surgeon's advice is to eat protein first and then move on to the sides. I am not hungry for the sides. HELP..any advice is welcome.

May 28th Anyone??
Hi Mara. I feel great. Thanks for asking. I called my doctor a day before I was suppose to start soft foods and asked If I could start a day early. I was given the ok. Last night I had pan cooked fish. I just knew I would go to my old ways and overeat, but surprisingly I did not. I took small bites and chewed, chewed, chewed. I am naturally a slow eater. By the time 20 minutes went by I was satisfied and only had 4-5 ozs of fish. This band is the "magic wand" I have been seeking for a long time. I am still not hungry. This will be really easy to do. So far, so good. My only concern is over getting the fills. I'm afraid of needles and I am afraid of food getting stuck. No one has posted that stuck food gives the choking sensation. I don't want to experience that. I pray that I only need 1 or 2 fills. I haven't started exercising yet. I know once I start the weight will just fall off. I'm glad you are feeling well. That gas pain is really scary.

Need Lap Band Buddy / Mentor Another looking for a friend!
Hi Bobbie..Today is day 14 post op and I am feeling pretty good. I am on soft foods now which consists of yogurt, mashed potatoes, fish and soft cooked eggs. I have to go shopping today. No yogurt. I would much rather the yogurt over heavy mashed potatoes. I have lost over 11 pounds. I feel good about that. I also do not want to be model thin. I wore an XL top and 14 bottoms, but was not comfortable. Heart disease and diabetes runs in my family and this was a chance to stop any of those from happening to me. My goal is to wear a L top and a 12 bottom. Roughly that should be a 30-40 pound drop. My husband and I are High School Sweethearts. We met in 1978. Over the years he is looking great. Some signs of graying around the edges and his weight is good. Me on the other hand began to look and feel really old. I thought no way. I want the two of us to age gracefully. I'm on the right track. It feels good to turn away from food. I'm also conscience of what foods to avoid and I have made every effort to do so. Before the band I would eat it knowing it wasn't good for me. I know this is the best thing I have ever done for myself.

May 28th Anyone??
Munger you will get your fill before I get mine. I am also TERRIFIED of needles. My first fill was schedule for 6/16/09, but I am flying a few days later. I was rescheduled for 6/30/09. What kinds of foods are you eating now? I was put on soft foods today. I had 1/4 cups of refried beans around 10:45 this morning. I am still full. I must remember to measure everything from now on. I do not want to overeat again.
