Spicy foods?

I am hoping - fingers crossed - to get banded in July. Very excited at the prospect of having the lap band - but - I am originally from New Orleans and LOVE spicy foods. Have you all had to give them up completely? Has anyone been able to tolerate "heat"? Thanks in advance for your responses!

I live in S. Texas. Of course you don't have to give up spicy foods!

I was banded 3/26/09.....I have not found anything yet that hasn't agreed with me (not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing).

I was banded 1/14/09 and also haven't found anything that disagrees with me

Love spicy food!

I agree, I love spicy food all the time and hotter than pre-band. They also fixed my hiatal hernia during surgery, so I think that may have something to do with it as well.

Spicy food are my fav! The spicier, the better! Spices are one thing you will never have to give up!

I eat spicy foods almost daily, I LOVE LOVE LOVE them! No issues what so ever! Went to a Crawfish Festival a couple of weeks ago, was sucking wind because it was so spicy !!

wstorms....have you lost over 50lbs without a fill? That's is great. What is your secret?

i was recently banded on may 26th and have added hot sauce to my food everyday. I'm from texas, so mexican food is a must. haven't had any problems so far.

I have no trouble with any spicy food. I use salsa and hot sauce in my eggs, I add chili oil and peppers to my chinese food, I eat blackened catfish.

I love cajun food.

I consider myself one of the top Buffalo Wing Experts in the nation (everyone has to be good at something :) ) While in moderation, I still love my wings. Next month I am one of the judges at a local event where we judge wings from usually 30 different restaurants. I use to eat the entire wing, but this time it will be a small bite of each. In Sept, I will be going back to Mecca (Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY) for the first time since surgery. I hope to be at my goal then and unable to finish 10.
