Please help! Unexplained pain??
Navy I am so glad you are ok. Thank you for sharing. Sometimes we will think the pain is nothing to worry about when we should be persistent with the doctors. This is very valuable information for us all. Again, I am glad you are ok.

question about terms I've read
Thank you. That verse keeps me going.

question about terms I've read
I have not experienced these and hope I never will, but I too was curious and asked the same questions. PBing is when you overeat and its like a burp, but the food comes back up. It is not vomiting. Sliming happens when food gets stuck and your body produces a thick saliva which also comes up, sometimes with the stuck food most times just the slime. I think you will continue to slime until the food passes or comes up. Hope this helps.

I finally have restiction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a 10cc band with a 3cc fill. I have no restriction. I can't wait until I get there. When were you banded and have you lost weight?

new lapband
Follow the eating plan that your surgeon gave you. The hospital gives everyone the same booklets, but each surgeon has different requirements for their patients. Make sure you call the surgeon if he did not give you a specific plan. I was on two weeks of liquids and one week of soft foods. My surgeon said it was important that I heal first, which is why he recommends 2 weeks of liquids before moving to softs, then solids. Hope this helps.

Belated complication?
Wow Kitty. I am glad to hear that you are ok. Thanks for posting this. This post may help someone else that may be going through the same thing. It is a journey. The more I read the post, the more educated I get. The surgeons do not explain all that you go through after getting a band. All most of us know is that the band will help you lose weight. Thank God for this forum and all who post here. I wish you well on you journey.

July 2009 Mile Challenge
Hi Godshelp. This is what this challenge was intended, to get all of us moving. Welcome to our little group. I tried making a new ticker and adding it to my signature line with no success. Willowcat could possibly walk you through the making of the ticker.

new with questions
I too felt the way you do now. I am one month post op and so happy that I was banded. I started feeling better 3 weeks post op. After one month, I have more energy and have started exercising. I havn't exercised in years. I missed the foods, but I stayed on course. I called my doctor's office 2 days before I was to start soft foods and ask for permission to move from liquids to soft. I was told I could. I lasted 12 days on the liquid diet. I was really proud that I did not cheat. You will be able to enjoy the food again. Make sure you give your body a chance to heal before you move to solids. The band is the best thing to happen to me. The weight loss is slow, but it is weight loss. I could not do this without the band. I lived from one fad diet to another and none worked. I felt bad about myself. I stopped doing things with my family outside of the home. The band has given me my confidence back. You can do it!

port issues
I guess I was blessed. I went in for a fill on 6/30/09 and the NP could not fill me. She said my port had flipped on its side. Since I was already numb, she pressed on the area until the port was right side up again. Thank God. I am a self pay and could not afford to undergo revision surgery. I felt a slight tugging and pulling when I would try to sleep on my side. I wonder if that is when it happened. I noticed since my NP put the port back in place, I can sleep on my side and tummy again without any pulling or tugging sensation. Has anyone paid out of pocket for a port revision? How much did it cost?

First Fill Today - Questions
I got my first fill on 6/30/09. I am really afraid of needles. My NP was very good. She gave me a numbing shot first. That was a little stick with a little stinging. When she gave me the shot for the actual fill, I did not know she had stuck me. It was not bad at all. Lauren I hope I have the same experience you had. I do not feel any restriction with a 3cc fill. I hope it kicks in soon.

July 2009 Mile Challenge
Hi Poppet. Welcome to the challenge. Just do what you can. Any exercise is better than none at all. Glad to have you. Set a reasonable goal for yourself.

Nectar Protein..has anyone tried it?
I tried 2 flavors of the nectar Protein. Today I had strawberry/kiwi mixed with Raspberry Lemonade Crystal Light it was very good. Yesterday, I had the flavor Crystal Sky. I forgot to mix it with Crystal Light and mixed it with plain Water. It was not bad, but I would not try that flavor again. I will update after I try other flavors.

Please explain, why can I barely eat anything for bfast and lunch?
My doctor advised me to have only liquids for breakfast, because the band tightens during the night. It loosens up during the day. So far I do not have any restriction so I have not had that happen to me yet.
-
Two fills and absolutely NO restriction :-(
I too feel the same way. I just received my first fill on 6/30/09. I have a total of 3ccs in my band and feel no restriction. I can eat anything. I have made every effort not to fall back into my bad habits and eat all day. I am really trying to follow the eating plan. No breads, no Pasta. I stock up on sugar free Jello pudding so that I will not be tempted to become a sugar addict again. I have even started exercising. I will not be so dependent on the band for my weight loss. When I get the fill that gets me to the sweet spot I will have a lot of good habits in place. Take it one day at a time. Set mini goals and make every effort to reach them. Hope this helps.

July 2009 Mile Challenge
Hi Willowcat. Do you know how many tickers we are allowed in our signature line? I currently have two tracking my weight loss, but I do not know if we can add another. I like both tickers and do not want to choose between the two. I would like to add a third ticker to track my miles.
-
why am I gaining weight?
You also may have some of the remaining fluids from your IV in your body. What I've learned is, the weight loss is not automatic with the band. You will see a drop in weight, but it will come over time. I was on liquids for 2 weeks after my surgery. It was only the third week after that I was able to eat pudding, pureed foods and such.

Did anyone lose weight with the 1st fill?
Hi Bill. How are you today? Were you able to get your fill yesterday?
