  1. Jenai I received pictures from my doctor. I was amazed. I had a hernia and the pictures showed that too. My doctor puts me on 3 days of liquids and 3 days of soft foods after a fill. It has been hard for me to stick with that. Hopefully I will have better luck with this fill. I'm glad the weather is back to normal for you all. It must be nice to live in area with temps like that mid summer. Have a great workout!
  2. Jenai I also have a 10 cc Lapband. I've had 3 fills for a total of 4.5ccs. I do not have any restriction. My next appointment is Tuesday 8/11/09. I hope this fill helps me feel satisfied with just a few bites. I started off being satisfied with a few bites for a month after surgery. My surgeon had given me 2 ccs during the procedure. The restriction wore off and I have not had it since. It will be easier once I return to work. I was grazing a bit and eating the wrong foods. Once I return to work, my Breakfast will be a Protein shake and Soup for lunch. Willowcat thanks for posting that quote. I just got in from a workshop and thought I would skip my workout today. Thanks to you I am going to put my miles in today.
  3. Welcome to the challenge Smile. We will not let you down. You have done well with your weight loss. Congratulations! I am hoping to see the scale go down in the next few weeks after returning to work. I have been grazing somewhat. I can't wait to see a 20 pound loss. You have already motivated me to try and reach that goal. The goal of the challenge is to get in the habit of exercising. We set our personal goals so that we have something to reach for. Just keep moving. We are in this together.
  4. Lilpeach I am so sorry to know you went through that. You do not need to apologize for sharing your journey. You could possibly help someone else identify a problem in the future. I pray that you are on the road to recovery and that being banded will now be a positive tool in your life.
  5. Welcome to the challenge Elleaitch. All of the methods you listed applies. Kudos to your 15 year old for keeping you motivated.
  6. I felt trapped into sharing my WLS. I had the surgery 2 weeks before school was out. The nurses in my surgeons office had the surgery and they conducted the seminar. Each one said they had surgery on Friday and went back to work on Monday. Well I took the bait thinking I would ony miss two days from work. My surgery was performed on a Thursday. I ended up missing the last week of school because my body was too weak to return to work. I went in on the last day to tell my students goodbye. I was then asked by several people about my surgery. I felt obligated to tell them. I went to my school yesterday to meet with our new administration team. One girl that I told about the WLS walked up to me in front of a group of people and said, "Wow, Dee you look good. How much weight have you lost?" I have not lost much weight at all in my opinion. I brushed her off my saying, I've been working out and toning up. She got the message that I was not going to discuss my weight in that setting.
  7. Welcome to our challenge Snereb27. You are off to a really good start logging 12 miles in one day. WOW!
  8. Hi Jenai. I have been curious about your new shoes. How do you get them back so fast? Are there shoes in stock that match your measurements or do they custom make the shoes? I think that was a wonderful reward. Willowcat and I both decided on pedicures as a reward. I'm not sure what our other members did to reward themselves. I can't wait to reward myself with a pair of skinny jeans. I hope they are not out of style by the time I lose enough weight. HMMMMM! I think I will set a mini goal to fit into a size 12 jeans by October. That will be my reward at the end of September. I'm in a tight 14 now. I have 2 months. Did any of you tell your co workers about your WLS? I told only 3 people at work. I do not want everyone always asking how much weight have I lost or commenting about my weight in general. What are your thoughts on this subject?
  9. Thank you Willowcat. I was a little disappointed because the scale did not move, but the loss of inches lets me know I'm doing something right.
  10. Hi Sparkles. Sorry to hear about your band slippage. I don't know if you are experiencing pain or any other complications, but I truly hope you are ok. Welcome to our challenge. We are all hear to motivate and encourage each other. We had a great July and we are so excited about our next month's journey. Initially it started as a 50 mile challenge, but I did not want to exclude anyone who had other goals in mind. That was the best thing for this challenge. It helped many of us push past our set goals when we saw other members working hard everyday and meeting higher goals. Set your goal for whatever exercise you are comfortable doing and just log your miles every Saturday. There may be times when you feel like giving up, but come back to this thread and you WILL be encouraged to keep moving. In 30 days I have lost several inches around my thighs. I did not measure before the challenge started, but I am wearing a pair of shorts that were literally cutting off my circulation and today, the shorts are so loose around my thighs. I am on cloud nine.
  11. Thanks Blaze21!
  12. Hi Willowcat. Lets do a Saturday check in for this challenge. I agree that we should log our miles weekly. That is what kept me accountable too.
  13. Welcome to our little group Deb. Your journey is very inspiring. Thanks for sharing it. What grade do you teach?
  14. Jenai thats great. Thank you for doing that for us. I am not computer saavy at all. I logged my miles by using my stationary bike. It is getting easier for me to use it daily. I need to reset my goal from 50 to at least 60 miles. I initially thought I would use my treadmill for the challenge, but I got a better workout on the bike. I have an ellipitical machine too, but I can not go more that 1 minute on it and it only tracks steps not miles. Does anyone know if you can convert steps into miles?
  15. Welcome to the challenge Last. Most of us were not really active before the challenge. We either had equipment at home or memberships that we we not fully using. Now most of us hate it when we miss a day of exercising. It is not a competitive challenge where we are trying to out do one another. We just encourage each other to keep going and not give up. Thats why it was better that we set our own goals. It really worked.
  16. Jenai that is a great idea. How do you want to format it?
  17. July 2009 total miles logged 55 miles. Exceeded the goal by 5 miles.
  18. And we are off...We hope more of you can join us in our challenge. July was an awesome start. Lets keep moving and getting those miles logged. I am so excited that we motivated each other on this journey of good health. I'm looking forward to what we can accomplish in August. For any NEWCOMERS, check out the July 2009 Mile Challenge to see how our posters got their miles in for the month. Set any goal that you feel will be attainable. Do not give up. Just keep moving.
  19. Willowcat I agree. I will start a new thread for August. CONGRATULATIONS everyone!
  20. Hello...I have an observation and I need to hear from a few of you so that I can have some clarity. I noticed that most of you eat very little food. Is that because you can't eat more than that because of your fills or you are measuring and will not eat more but could. I hope it is because your fill will not allow you to eat more than that. I received my 3rd fill on Tuesday which brought me to 4.5ccs. I feel some restriction, but not enough to where I am satisfied with the amounts you all eat. Please respond back. Thanks in advance.
  21. I went back Tuesday for another fill and the same thing happened. Once she found the port after multiple sticks she had to change the saline because blood was mixed in. How is blood getting into the syringe if she is pushing the contents out of the syringe rather than pulling saline out of my port? I am baffled.
  22. I'm ready! I am going to try and rename the thread to July-December 2009 Mile Challenge. We can continue to log our miles here.
  23. Congratulations Openag!!!!! You also joined after the challenge had started and not only did you meet the goal, but you exceeded the goal. WOW!!! I'm glad you come aboard with us. I'm so looking forward to next month's challenge. Go out and Celebrate.
  24. Yes, I am a teacher WillowCat. I teach 3rd grade. I am looking forward to going back to work for several reasons. One reason is that I know I will eat less at work. I usually have a Protein shake for Breakfast and I plan to do the Soup at Hand for lunch. The hardest part of the day would be getting home and eating takeout for dinner. I hope by then my fills will kick in and I can leave food on my plate. I recently purchased a Gerber Graduate baby plate. It is divided into sections and is much smaller than the average dinner plate. I have been using that to ensure that I eat smaller portions. So far so good. Teachers report back on 8/17/09. Our students return on 8/24. When do you go back to work?
  25. I DID IT!!!! 51 Miles and going.........
