  1. I nearly forgot to set the thread for the month. My goal for February is 40 miles. Good luck everyone!
  2. I just found this challenge. Is it too late to join? My birthday is February 12th and this challenge can help me lose before then. If you allow me to join, I would like to set my goal to 10lbs.
  3. I agree TJ. I did everything right for 6 months. Exercised, ate what I was told and the scale barely budged. During the holidays I became frustrated and ate what I wanted. My fills have been so slow to get me to restriction. Its been 8 months since my surgery and I am still in bandster hell. I too am a self pay. No one has $13,000.00 to throw away. I have done all of the work so far. I am back on track with my eating. I envisioned my self much smaller at this point. Please, someone tell me that this band will do its job, for me and others who are wondering the same?
  4. CRAZY week for me. I had contractors in my home all week. Most nights they left after seven. My bedtime is 8. So much for my weekly goal. Week 2: 6 miles 18 total 32 to go
  5. Welcome to the challenge LTOT!
  6. Thanks for letting me know. I'm happy for your loss.
  7. You are off to a great start! Good Luck.
  8. Hi Sash. Welcome to the challenge!
  9. Welcome to the challenge Meg.
  10. I have been banded since May 2009. I do not know if I have reached the sweet spot yet. If you have reached it, tell me in your words what that means to you?
  11. I have just read about the 5 Day Pouch Test. Did anyone lose weight during the 5 days? If you have lost weight, how much did you lose? Thanks!
  12. Week 1 13 miles done 37 to goal Hope everyone had a good first week.
  13. Welcome to the challenge 65DueceCoupe. You can do it.
  14. I love the Nectar fruit flavored protein. I mix it with Crystal Light. Each scoop has 23 grams of protein.
  15. Hello Mom. I know how you feel. I was banded in May and had the same problems that you are experiencing now. My pain was from the gas that was still trappped in my body. I sought advice on the forum and felt better knowing that it was the norm. You are still swollen as well. In time the swelling and the pain diminishes and you will feel better in a matter of weeks. It took nearly a month before I felt better. Some people felt better sooner. I went back to my surgeon less than a week after surgery because I was in so much pain. He assured me that all was well, and it was. I learned that he had given me a fill during surgery. That explained why I was not able to drink a lot of liquid at once. You may want to seek the advice of your surgeon to be on the safe side. I truly hope you will feel better soon.
  16. SamWaters I am having the same problem that your husband has. Although I do not test the band to see just how much I can eat, I can eat much more than the 4ozs per meal. I went for a fill on Thursday and was only given .2ccs to bring me to a total of 7.5ccs. I asked for more, but was turned down. The band does NOT restrict my eating and it is very frustrating. I want to experience that, "I can't eat another bite" feeling after eating 3-4 bites of my meal. Does this phenomenon exist?
  17. I will use my stationary bike and treadmill.
  18. I saw an infomercial for shake Weights this morning. Has anyone tried them? PARDON THE ERROR. The 3rd poll choice should read: Used them and have toned arms.
  19. Hi Brigette. Welcome to the challenge. It does not matter how you get your miles in. You can jog, walk, ride a bike or use an elliptical. We try to log the miles weekly. If you would like to see how it has been done in the past go to the July 2009 Mile Challenge. That is when it started. We have had a challenge every month since. Good luck!
  20. Happy New Year! I love this time of the year. This is the time for renewal and setting new goals. 2009 was a great year, but I am excited about what 2010 holds for me. This is the year that I will reach my weight loss goal. I am so determined to get there by May 2010. I will Celebrate my one year anniversary with the band. My daughters gave my husband and me a wonderful Christmas gift. It was a picture catalog of our lives over the last 20 years. Looking over those pictures brought out so many emotions. I was so thin for many years and I loved flipping through the pages until I got to the last page. It was a picture of our family on vacation in June 2008. I gasped. I did not recognize myself. I was so FAT. My husband and 2 daughters looked great. I vowed then and there that our vacation pictures in June 2010 will show a much thinner me. My goal for the month will be 50 miles. Good luck to all who take the challenge.
  21. Hi Diva. I would like to join. I am trying to get to my sweet spot. I started feeling sorry for myself, thinking I would be one of those people that the band would not work for. I felt guilty because I am a self pay and took money out of our account to pay for the band. Thank you for posting. You have given me hope. I have 7.3ccs in a 10cc Lapband. I pray that this next fill will be the last fill for a while. I have a lot of the same products that you have to help on this journey. I like slimshots. I find they really help curb my appetite. I have Wii active, Wii fit, countless workout DVDS and several exercise machines. I currently have the 2009 Mile Challenge thread in the fitness section. We have been going strong since July 2009. My weight loss has stalled however. You have lost a great deal of weight. How did you do it? What and how much food did you eat? How much do you exercise? I am excited about this challenge. I will set mini goals. My birthday is in February. I would like to lose 10lbs by the 12th. I will then work toward other small goals leading up to my one year anniversary with the band. I would love to have a loss of 30lbs by May 28, 2010.
  22. So far this month I have 33 miles logged. Only 7 miles to go.
  23. Thanks Willow. It hasn't been easy getting my miles in since I went back to work. Not only do I teach, but I have a tutoring business after school. Most days I am done by 6:00. That is why I lower my goal. I applaud you for keeping your miles the same. I am looking forward to our Winter Break. I forgot about that when I set my goal at 40. I know I will get more miles in for December. Now if only I can get to restriction, I will be the happiest person on the planet.
  24. Hi Kevin. Glad you are part of the challenge. Setting your goal is up to you. It depends on how you get your miles in. I get mine in on a stationary bike. I get more miles in using the bike as opposed to the treadmill. We only count miles exercised. Get them in any way that you can.
  25. Happy Holidays everyone! I am so ready to end this year charging forward to the new one. I will keep my goal at 40 miles.
