    Well.......hmmmmmmmmm

So, it's almost 4 weeks post op. I am healing well, eating the right things, exercising daily. I have lost 15 pounds since surgery, but none since last Wednesday. I think I got used to seeing the scale drop daily......also- note to self, "do not weigh yourself daily"!!!!!!!! Ha!!! I know my weight will fluctuate, and I know that now is a time for healing rather than big weight loss. I thank this site and the others on here for that information, but man I want that weight to come off!!!! I go next week to see the surgeon- possibly for my first fill. That should be interesting. I think I am just having a BLAH day. I hope all is well with everyone- take care!

    Aetna -3 month supervised plan

Hey- the nutritionist did help me set goals for exercise. In our sessions we set 2 food/eating goals and 1 exercise goal. mine were: 1. stop drinking 30 min. before, during and 30 min. after meals. 2. cut out sugar- only eat sugar free treats 3. walk for 40 min. 3-5 times a week. These were my last of the 3 month goals. We had built up to these over the 3 months. My BMI was 40 and my only co-morbidity was high blood pressure. Let me know if you have any other questions. Keep me posted on how things are going!!!!!!
  3. How are things going? I hope all is well !!!! talk to you soon, Leslie

    Aetna -3 month supervised plan

I too did a 3 month supervised plan through AETNA. The insurance coordinator should really familiarize herself with this as that is her job!!!!! However- I had to do monthly nutritionist visits(at the weight loss surgery clinic) meet with the PA, have a psych consult, and then on the 4th month I met with the surgeon and he signed off on all the 3 month paperwork. It was then faxed to the insurance company and i waited for approval. It took about 2 1/2 weeks after that and i was approved. Does your surgeons office have a nutritionist etc on staff? The main thing I found was to work towards the goals that are set out for you through the nutritionist, make progress each month. The insurance company is looking not only at BMI, weight, and co-morbidities (like diabetes, sleep apnea etc), but that you are committed to making this tool work for you. message me any time- maybe I can answer some questions. However, the first step is to really get the insurance coordinator to work for you!!!!! Leslie:thumbup:

  9. Thank you so much!!! i needed that pep talk! Im about to cook some tilapia and some steamed veggies....should be good. Have a wonderful Tuesday! We shall keep on losing!!! yay!!!!

  10. Hey there- I didn't have those restrictions for my job. sorry to hear that you have to be out for two more weeks- I did hear that you have to be on liquids after a fill. that will not be fun for thanksgiving!!!! I am seeing my surgeon (i think for a fill) on week 5 (i guess because of thanksgiving the next week)- that's just how they scheduled me. Im still stuck at having lost 15 pounds since surgery....not sure why....im definitely not eating more. im kind of confused about it, but it could also be because it's coming up on that time of the month. Congrats on the 20 pounds!!!! that's awesome. I too feel in limbo...eating the same things over and over again. I feel kind of down today, but i think it's due to being stuck at 15 pounds down (not that that is a bad thing at all) and the PMS...LOL. Hope to hear from you soon!!! Leslie

    I'm a Happy Girl!

Congratulations!!!!! that is awesome. A healthy new you is just around the corner. I am 3 1/2 weeks post op and so glad that i did it!!!!! take care- keep us posted.
  12. Kristen-

I am a stick to the rules person too...especially with this....too much has gone into it to mess it up!!! They told me that I could only do flat walking on land or do the treadmill without any incline for 6 full weeks post op. Turkey chili is another really great thing to eat during the more chunky stage - may be ok on your pureed diet. i also love fat free refried beans or refried black beans- i put a little cheese, salsa and fat free sour cream with them and boy is it good!!!!! Today I was so tired after work i took a really long nap....i think the surgery, very few calories etc..... are catching up with me. Looking forward to each day with more and more energy. Take care and I will talk with you again soon!!!!!!!- Leslie

  13. Hey there-I just read your blog. I am 3 weeks post op- and I haven't had any problems either.......I was wondering if this is normal too. LOL. I can eat pretty well (slow and chew chew chew), but no issues. When I went for two week post op visit they said that everything looked good. I am so paranoid about stretching the pouch out etc. During the pureed stage I ate lots of mashed potatoes (made with beef broth to add more flavor), soups(broth based, no chunks), - what are your guidelines for pureed food stage.....they all seem different? Iam feeling pretty good too- not too sore, a little tired after work each day. I am walking about 40 minutes each day for exercise. Message me anytime....would love to talk!!!! - Leslie

  14. Hi ya!!! Hope all is well with you. I am doing really well- total loss of 14 pounds post surgery as of today. I was REALLY hungry today and just had to have a snack....i had some cottage cheese and hummus and I gotta say it was delicious. But now i feel a bit guilty for having had a snack!!! Oh well at least it was a healthy snack and not cookies and milk. I hope all is well with you. thank you for your support, kind words and bandster unity!! : ) Leslie

  15. life is pretty good. i was sooooo hungry yesterday that i wanted to eat my arm.....but oh well onward and upward. I had some cod last night and it was ok.....I like tilapia or salmon better. tonight im going to have some lasagna( i put some fat free ricotta and marinara sauce in some muffin tins and baked them- then froze them). im going to make the ground beef fresh this evening and eat it separately of course. ; ) Lost 14 pounds so far!!! very happy about that. I often get worried that something im doing (even getting up off the couch) will cause the port to flip or something.....guess i just have to wait til that first fill. : ) talk to you soon!!!! have a wonderful evening. Leslie

  16. When are you going to try to go back to work? I hope it goes smoothly....let me know. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. (small world for sure that we work in the same type of jobs!!!). talk soon-leslie

Pre-op Day 3 - a little emotional, but not hungry

You can do it!! It's tough through the pre-op diet. Support is so important, so I am glad you have your boyfriend and this site. The surgery worried me to, but after it was done (three weeks ago).....it was like a light switched on for me and I felt better about all of it-I knew that I had done the best thing ever. (I thought that before the surgery, but definitely felt it after!!) I wish you the best of luck!!! keep us posted. message me anytime!!! Leslie
