  1. Hey there UberMom, I get stuck and I have no restriction at all! I am keeping with my plan of only Protein and liquids. I try really hard to stay away from the bad carbs. I am not exercising and I am waiting for a total band revision. You can do this! I will keep watching for your progress! thetig

    I want on Thursday to the doc for the first time in over a year.

    I now have 8.5cc and can feel the difference.

    I'm already finding that's it's harder to drink like I used to.

    I'm getting back on track! I now need to commit myself when I go out to friends houses for parties. Just got back from a b-day party and had more then I should of (the bad stuff that is-chips, cupcake/no frosting...but I did find the veggies and fruit too!)

    Good luck on your up and coming surgery too.


  2. You have NOT failed. We don't fail, we just adjust, own it, learn from our mistake (if there is one) and move on.

    Yes, Yes; it could be more of the mental then the physical. You are not used to your new tool and the change in eatting habbits.

    Keep logging your food and times. This will help you understand when your hunger cycle is (my worst part of the day is between 3-5 cause it's the busiest time for my family, we're winding down from the day and they demand more of me) and a snack could be the trick to get you by till your next meal.

    Do you bring a tote or cooler w/you where ever you go filled w/food or drinks you can have at a moments notice? Or do you have that quick grab and go food at home when the feeling comes on? Think of those if you haven't already.

    Having 4 kids, they have a lot--I mean a lot of the wrong kinds of "grab and go" food. I've placed theirs at the other end of the kitchen so mine is the easiest to get to, even in the fridge too.

    Fills: they (my doctor did) usually like to go slow at first so you my not fill a big difference but there will be a difference on how much you can eat. By logging your food and making comments will make you more aware of the differences.

  3. Okay, I can tell you that I was truly nervous while waiting in the waiting room. I haven't been here in over a year, not sure if he would do a fill or not, would he ask about my journal...

    After getting weighed and finding out that their scale showed me to be 4 pound heavier than my home scale, my feelingss where hurt. "I've been working really hard this past month and I thought it was working!"

    But after I calmed down and remembered that each scale can be different and that it's ok to go by my scale at home (the one that shows I've lost 9 pounds since June) I felt better.

    So...he came in and I really felt it was like a wham pam thank you mame kind of visit.

    He let me know that I really should have been coming in. Said that in order for this to really work I need to visit at least every other month.

    He asked if I felt restricted- "not really" Do you want a fill - "yes" Do you have reflux - "yes" Sleep apnea -"yes"

    I told him that the last time he and another doctor tried to give me a fill that they had a problem finding my port and that I wanted a local cause it hurt. He said that he really didn't do that and that this shouldn't hurt.

    WRONG - He had a problem, took longer then it should have and each time he moved the needle around it would pinch me in the inside. But he did eventually find it. He pulled out 8cc, my records indicated that there should have been 7cc in so we both were surprised to find more.

    He added it back along with a half cc more.

    I found restriction while drinking the water in the waiting room and then later when I ate lunch and at dinner, I could feel I was fuller a bit sooner.

    It was a strange feeling though when to took out the 8cc. You know how it feels when your pants or belt is to tight after you've eaten and then you undo and fell relieved? I could feel the opening of the band and of it being filled back up.

    I think I will be looking for another doctor too.


  4. Hey Teresa,

    Good for you on losing what you have and watching what you eat, that is always one of the hard things to do.

    When I had my first fill, they couldn't find the port. The kept trying and then they did. It didn't hurt much, no more than a pinch. But after that I did start asking for a local.

    I felt my first restriction after my second fill and then of course more after my third. Please remember that everyone is different and feeling restriction could be on the first on w/you.

    Filling full: It's hard to recognize at first because we are so used to eating and eating and we just don't know just what full is. For me it's not a complete feeling of full as much as it is a feeling of being comfortable.

    I do eat between 5-6 times a day. Three are meals and the others are snacks. I also try not to eat after 7pm. (today that didn't work L ) I keep water coming all day long. I am getting better at drinking my 64oz in one day and there are days when I even drink more! I do use those flavor packages too.

    Even if you never get to the point of feeling full, stay w/in the menu you have prepared, your stomach and your mind have to get used to its new routine and substance amounts.

    Hint: I now prepare a car tote. It has extra water and snacks in it. The snack could be veggies, fruit, cheese, nuts…what every you want to bring so if for some reason you are stuck and all that is around is a fast food—you can just say no and go to your tote.

  5. I am so glad that I tried the Zumba class out!

    I've seen it on TV to buy for home use, but felt that I wouldn't keep up w/it.

    The dance studio that my girls go to started up a class and I tried it out. Well that was back in April and I've dropped 15 inches off of my total body!!!

    I've lost 5 pounds to boot! The studio now has a total of 4 classes through out the week and is looking to add another one.

    If they have it each day, I just may drop my gym memebership (that I never seem to go to).

    The weight is coming off better right now. I've been writing down everything and drinking the water (64oz a day). Using those little flavor packets for the water has made it easy and I rarely have a soda now, maybe once a week if that.

    I picked up myself a new little car tote for my snacks while I'm out and so far I haven't been looking for a fast food joint to satisfy my hunger needs.

    I did make an appointment to see my doc. Found out that's it's been over a year since I had seen him.

    After looking at my weight logging, I never placed a single log for '08.

    I'm back in the game and ready to play some hardball.


  6. Why so long since a fill...I'm guessing you need one if you've been able to gain some weight? Glad you're back and taking control again. -BG

    I thought that the last one I had was my sweet spot. I did and still do get stuck at times.

    But I also haven't seen the doc since the last fill either. I think I'll be calling them to do a follow up.

    I just thought that this was it and I had to work with what I had.

  7. Up at 7:30 and started my day.

    Worked around the house before going to Zumba at 9:30.

    Didn’t have time to eat at home so did it while I drove to class.

    The last time I didn’t eat before class I almost passed out. Don’t want that to happen again.

    B/9:15- 2 Spc K Grab N Go (100 Cal ea.)

    9:30-10:30 Zumba class

    Snack/11:15 Protein Shack (Peanut Butter)

    L/1:15 Hotdog w/bun, mustard, ketchup and pickle relish.

    (Had a doctor’s appt.

    at 11:45-12:45, so lunch was late)

    D/5:40 (not hunger yet and going to do another Zumba at 6:30)

    On the way to class had a Spc K Grab N Go

    D/8:00pm Take out/Mx-shrimp burrito (huge one), ate half. Lettuce, tomatos, shrimp, salsa, white sauce and a side of radishes (4).

    Now at 9:10 I have acid reflux.

    Zumba class was great!

    Water/Drinks(8oz): lllllll (56oz today :thumbup:)

    Had a stressful day w/the kids. Just the usual—not getting along. But I’m proud of myself for not turning to food to escape the issue.

    I will try to remember to weigh in and measure this weekend.

    Last weigh in into my log book was 5/5:

    #: 204 BMI: 39

    Chest: Above 40”/At 44”/Below 39”

  8. I've been so busy. Life does that to you.

    Current weight as of a week ago is 202. On banding day (7/11/06) I was at 208, prior to that I started at 224 w/first visit to doctor to start all of this.

    Fills:

    11/06 - 5cc/194#/BMI 37

    5/07 - Pulled out fluid, found 4cc, added on more to total 5cc again/202#/BMI 38

    8/07 - Pulled out fluid again, 5cc still there, added 1cc for a total of 6cc/198#/BMI 37

    I'm happy to have kept the weight off but not happy that I haven't lost.

    I've done it to myself. I haven't been watching what I put into my mouth in the past 3 years.

    Last Monday I started logging what I'm eating. I've come back here to look for support and to talk to others about what they are doing and how it might be working for them--or not.

    I will try my best to keep up on the logging.


  9. I started sneezing over the weekend and I'm finding that my lft side hurts from it. I hope that it will get better with time. I don't want to have to hold my each and every time I have a cold.

    I'm still holding at 205, but the other day I saw 204 :cool: . I hope I will reach my Christmas goal of 193.

    I'm really looking to lose 3-5 pounds a month. More then that is a blessing.

    Over the weekend I wanted chocolate--and I found it. I haven't had a period for 4 years except when I stress out and it will come for a week and then go away. Well I was spotting all week (very little), I had really bad mood swings and my lower back was really hurting. I guess the stress from the surgery and shit finially got to me. DH said my peroid might come back. I hope not, I hope this is all I'm going to see of it--again.

    I have been good about my eating but not really good. I've been having small portions and eating my protein first but I've also been having bad stuff:

    Chocolate

    Chips

    Bread

    Corn Tortillas

    French Fries

    Fried Fish

    I keep telling my self that I will go on to Fitday.com and start logging, but damm, I don't have the time to sit and write down all my food. I had a problem doing that just putting it onto the paper.

  10. B-8:30am: Protein drink w/12 oz 2% milk & ½ banana

    L-12:30pm: 1 sl wheat bread w/butter & American Chz (grilled chz), 2 sl apple and 5 grapes.

    I just can’t wait for the kids to go back to school so they will have something to do all day long.

    My oldest each and every morning asks “Mom what are we going to do today? Can we go anywhere?”

    I went to support group last night and I’m becoming more familiar with everyone now that I talk to.

    Joan had the two books “Living & Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery” & “Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery”. She said that I could keep them till next month’s meeting.

    I am doing ok on the water but still not like I was. I need to get back on track w/that.

    I'm still not sure if I want to get a fill. I like my feedom of drinking more then a sip at a time or eating just a bit more. I quess I'm also afraid and what I've been reading about getting stuck or not going through or vomiting.

    I know that if I get a fill that I will limit myself some more and I want that--just not the scary stuff that might happen.

    I need to get into the gym. I keep telling myself that I can just wait one more month and the kids will be in school and I'll have all the time in the world. But I need to start more then the walking that DH and I are doing, or trying to do 3 times a week.


  11. :D DH measured last night and weight is at 205 and I've lost a total of 20.5" -ALL OVER!!!:clap2:

    No this has me thinking again about the fill. Should I pass on it again or should I get it? Oh I don't know.

    I had problems drinking over the weekend. Did good but wasn't able to finish one. :mad:

    Oh ya; went to Soak City w/the kids Saturday. Did good while eating. Had hamberger meat w/half the bun. (twice--there till 3:30)

    AND--my bathing suit kept falling off of my shoulder!! :omg: Which at times it was to reveling.

    My feet and my lower back hurt by the time I got home and was resting. But my rt knee didn't! I still have problems when I kneel on it though.

    I also have had to change watches cause its to loose.

    I didn't mesaure last night cause DH wasn't in the mood. Bad day at work.

    I was so busy this morning that I never got here to entry my day.

    B/L 11:30: Tuna Salad on whole wheat w/lettuce

    Snack 1:00: 100 Cal Popcorn

    Snack 4:25: 2T Tuna Salad

    I've been drinking Crystal Lite today. On my 2nd 20 oz cup.

    The kids helped me lift alot today. We had Amvets come out and get the kids old backyard toys that they don't use anymore. I also had toys in the house too.


  13. It's weigh and measure day! :omg:

    This morning at 9:45am my weight is 207#. When DH gets home later we'll measre.

    I feel good about what shap my body is forming into even though I've only lost one pound since surgery. I can't lie; I'm a disappointed in the weight since that whats in my face at the moment.

    I keep hearing my mom "so how much weight have you lost, really, I thought you were suppose to lose 2# a week?"

    The worked on the bump on bum last night. It is soft & as I pushed on it I could feel it separate. I hope if I work on it it will go down. I've had it for a few years but now that my bum is getting smaller you can really see it. I think is just full of fatty tissue like what I have on the side of my thighs that I had worked out in PT.

    9:45: Started water

    B/L 11:30: 12 pc Chkn Tortelloni w/2T pesto sauce

    12:15 Started another water

    Snack 1:15 : 100Cal Dorito Snack (OMG was that good)

    D 6ish: Turkey Sweet Sausage (not sure if I'll get this again--had hard pieces in it like bones) 1/2c chkn tortelloni w/pesto

    Went to the park w/a friend and it was hot out. We only stayed an hour in a half. We got to talking about breakfast and how we both don't do it much.

    She said that if she eats she usually eats w/in an hour of doing it. I tried to explain that she needs a protein to supstain her till lunch or for at least a few hours. She's going to try it and I'm going to work on getting breakfast in me!

    I'm slow on the water today to but I think I will finish before I go to bed.

    Dinner was good but I'm hungry. I'm finding this happening more and more each night.

    9:15 snack: 100 Cal Popcorn

    I think by the time I see Dr. Brunson on the 23rd I will be ready for a fill.


  14. Well I took the kids to SW this morning. We got there around 10 & left around 2. I'm tired and thirsty. :faint:

    B 8:00am: ProRated drink w/12 oz 2% milk

    S @SW 12ish: Two handfulls of Buggles & an apple

    L 3:00: Asian Salad (60% of it-but all of the chicken) @ Jack N Box plus 4 spoonfulls of chocolate shake and 5 FF

    D 7:00: 2 Del Tacos that I made into a salad w/dressing (no shell) and a few (5)chips w/nacho cheese

    I brought ProRated w/me so I could buy some milk but I left my walet at home--duh. So there went a good idea.

    I've had 20 oz water so far. Just haven't had it in front of me. I need to get working on it for today.

    I don't know if it's the water or what, but for the past two nights I've had a headache that startes around 8pm. Nothing seems to help it either.

    The kids were ok so it may our time nice. It was good to get out w/them again.

    5:20pm I'm on my second 20 oz cup since I got home. Headache still there and it's hot here.

    Not to hungry since I ate late but the family is and DH just got home. Oh wo is me and me is tired.

    7:45pm OMG the kids; tonight must have been Q&A for DH and his hot rodes he had as a young buck. DH kept asking me "are they like this all the time w/you?---YES"

    I don't think I'll make the 64 oz today. I still have the second one I started right before DH came home.

    Ha; my headache is gone though! :clap2:

    Have PTA stuff to start on--I'm to tired but I'll give it a try.:mad:

    I had 4 cups left to drink--not bad for a late start.


  15. I started something new yesterday. I filled up a jug with 64 oz of water and I drank it all. It wasn't hard, I just had to remember that I had it there to drink.

    Yesterday

    B: 1.5 c Tuna Salad

    L: 3 Chkn Taqitos & 3 Fish sticks

    D: Beef Salad

    late Nite Snack: Coconut Caramel Promax Bar (all of it)

    Today:

    16 oz water first

    10:25am: ProRated 20oz (1.5 scoop)

    working on 2nd water.

    12:45pm: 3 oz steak, 2 oz chkn flvrd pasta (in my back in the upper part it hurts like heartburn)

    working on 3 cup

    3:40pm: Promax coconut carmel bar

    My feet hurt last night after we got home and I had a headache. I think my shoes are not the right kind. May need to buy new ones (walking shoes).

    Only got up once last night to pee.


  16. I've thought it over and I'm going to pass on the fill this time.

    I've lost 3 pounds since surgery and my clothes fell great. I want to feel better about what I have inside of me. I want to wait another month or so.

    I meet with Dr. Brunson on the 23rd and I'm sure we'll talk about it again.

    I'm feeling great. No pain on my side.

    I do find that I can eat more then I thought I would be able to. I need to rememeber to eat the protein portion of the food first.

    We had chicken tacos last night and I had three. It sure was good going down but I was hunger later (10ish).

    I also need to find something else to eat while at Souplantation. It's becoming boring, same ol-thing again and again.

  17. Well I had a scare there for a bit. On the 28th I lifted a watermelon and I pulled some muscels.

    On Monday of this week I felt really bad. It hurt to do just about anything that involved my left side.

    I took some meds. Lortab and I felt better while sleeping and yesterday I felt better then I had in a few days. It's even better today.

    NO MORE LIFTING FOR A LONG TIME!!!!!!

    The boys have been helping me lift or bend over to pick up things. The girs too.

    I'm still at the same weight. I guess that is good but bad. I think I'm going to do the fill next week.

    I wonder what would happen if I did a 5 or 10 day liquid again? I know it would work and I would hate it but.... Well see after the fill how things go.

    We've been working on the kitchen--the kids and--and things are looking better.

    My scale is off my 3 #'s :omg:

    But all is well. He said that I can swim and continue w/the way I'm eating.

    Need to make an appointment w/Radiology for my first fill in about 2 weeks. But if I'm doing well enough I can cancel it.

    I know that I'm full faster now but I don't know how I'll be in 2 weeks.

    Bruce is concernded that me might lose his job because of a conflict w/the new department manager. If he loses his job where will that leave me w/this new tool?


  19. Well I'm not having those pains anymore. Well I haven't since the weekend.

    I'm back onto solid food and all is well.

    Sunday I took a nap around 4:30 and didn't get up till 7:30 the next morning when DH asked me to get up to make sure I was ok. I was fine.

    Monday was sooooooooo hot.

    Today is better but it's muggy.

    I've had a egg breakfast burrito. I tossed half the tortillia. I didn't like the way it tasted. I used immitation egg beaters. It wasn't to bad.

    Well it's 12:40 and I'm getting hungery again. Not sure what I want to eat that well keep me full for the next few hours.

    I need to drink more I know that.

    Oh ya; on Sunday I went to Taste of China and they won't give me the kids meal price. They say that they have people that just order from the full menu and take the rest home.

    The kids need to go back to school. Their getting on my nerves.

    I have my first follow up appt w/Dr. Bronson tomorrow. Won't get a fill for another 3 weeks.
