    I'm finding it easier...

Food journal: I used to hate it, but I've been writing since April of this year and it's become part of my daily routine and I don't even think twice about it. I don’t do calorie counts, I journal what and when I eat only. I found (in the past) that it just took up to much time to find out what the calorie(s) was for each and every thing I ate or drank. I've been losing weight, so I guess you could say what I've been works. Since I’m a visual person, I like how this keeps me on track at a glance. I've been posting here and emailing my mom (trying to get her on track too) about my food journal. She found a site and told me about the food dairy section. She said it was easy to use. I tried it out today and I think I've found an site to log into and get my calorie counts for the day. I had been on this site (www.myfitnesspal.com) about a month ago, but only used it as a "ticker" creation. I looked through it but thought there really wasn't anything there that I needed. Guess I was wrong. It lets you input exercise info too.

    The Power of Exercise!

Mike; you're doing great! Keep it up. At the begining I thought that just by eatting less that I would be doing well, but as I thought about it, exercise is what I also needed to help me lose weight. Because we have choosen the band, our weight loss can be slow. I want to use this time to tone up and not have to much hanging around (if you know what I mean) when I get to my goal weight. I did water aerobics for 2 years and it worked. It helped me get into a workout routine, toned my upper body and it let me ease back into exercise with out pain. I've moved on to land now and work out for an hour twice a week doing Zumba. This has been the best land exercise I've have every found!

7 Weeks Post Op and My Thoughts Today Are on Food

I do great during the day too but come night time I find that a few hours after dinner I'm hungry again. DH hasn't been helping much w/the ice cream he's been buying either. But tonight I drank a bit more water and it seem to have worked. I may have the "mind game" going on but my tummy is full. The other thing I need to do is stop staying up so late and go to bed at a decent time. (It’s 1:50am now) But its summer time and I'm a SAHM, so I don't really have to get up at a certain time each day. I hope your new fill works. Keep up the good work!

Okay, I'm trying out this new site I found. I orginally used it to make my tracker only. But I've found that it has a lot more to offer too. I hate having to track my food but this was easy so I'm going to give it a try. www.myfitnesspal.com I've only pasted a part of what they do for food posting. 1,262 Calories- Breakfast: Eggs - Scrambled (whole egg), 1 large Cheese - Cheddar, 0.05 oz Taco Bell - Taco Sauce - Medium, 1 tbsp Snack: Carrots - Raw, 1 medium Lunch: Taco Bell - Bean Burrito, 198 g Snack: Frito Lay - Fritos Scoops!, 1 oz (about 10 chips) Doritos - Snack Ranch Chips, 1 oz Krogers - Sweet and Salty Peanut Butter Granola Bar, 1 bar Dinner: Jennie-0 Turkey Store - Ground Turkey Breast, 2 oz Cheese - Cheddar, 1 oz Tomatoes - Red, ripe, raw, year round average, 0.05 cup, chopped or sliced Onions - Raw, 1 tbsp chopped Mission Tortillas - Yellow Corn Tortillas - Super Size (Approx 6.5"), 1.5 tortilla

Sunshine; I've been asking that same question about the 2# gain over night. If you find the answer---plz don't keep it to yourself. :} Happy Early Birthday! You will make your goal, it's just going to take a bit more time. Keep up the good work! Hope your new plan works and have a wonderful day off!
  10. SanDiegoUbermom

    really?

Way to go. Keep up the good work. You will be fine. Stay on task; journal, drink your water, do some exercises if you can (go for a walk) and keep us posted. I was banded in '06, I stayed on task for a year lost 30 pounds and then lost my way (thought I could do it on my own). But I'm back and loving it! I gained some back but I’ve had a fill and I think I’ve found my sweet spot. WW might come back in a good way though. A lot of people use it to stay on track with food and calorie count. I journal all my food but don't count calories, to time consuming for me. I eat just about anything I want but just in smaller portion sizes or just stay away from it cause it really isn’t good for me. I also eat 6 to 8 times a day. When I leave the house, I make sure I have a lunch tote filled w/snacks just in case I’m out for a while. Really stops me from driving to that Fast Food joint when I’m hungry. But one thing you should remember is if you eat more than usual or something that you shouldn’t. Don’t beat yourself up over it; acknowledge it, learn from it and then get over it. I find that by posting my food for the day helps and I can get other ideas from seeing what others have had for the day too. SWEET SPOT here I come!

Have I told you lately that I LOVE THIS BAND!! This is the best diet tool I've ever used. I'm so happy that I decided to get this! Summer is coming to an end and the kids are excited to go back to school and so am I!! We’ve been so busy w/playing and cleaning that I haven’t had time to blog. I’m going to push back my appointment for a fill in September. I’ve been doing well this last month; I’ve lost 8 pounds with no problem, could I have found my SWEET SPOT?! (Last fill- July 16th) With going to Zumba twice a week; I’ve also dropped another 10.75 inches! Since I’ve been working out in Zumba (since April) I’ve lost a total of 21.75” and 12#’s! I have been emailing my mom with my daily food journal. She has a weight issue too. I thought by showing her what I ate, when and that it worked that she might try. It worked; she started this week but wanted to start out doing shakes only. I convinced her that the shakes are good when you’re in a rush but that food is the best way to go (keep a journal, watch the portion size and eat more than 3 times a day—she is NOT banded). But also knowing from the past that the shakes get boring quickly and then she starts eating the WRONG things. For the week she has been doing it right and has dropped a pound already! WAY TO GO MOM!

I was busy again w/cleaning under beds. This time is was to finish the boys. We then did furniture moving and then back again. We tried to move the boys bunkbed and found that the fan was over half of the top bunk. Not good, so we moved it back. But now the room is clean! We got rid of just about all the toys too. Now I have a lot more clothes to wash. Yesterday was a WORK day. I had acupuncture at 8:15, Zumba at 9:30 and then home to clean up until 6. Glad to hear that it worked out and I just love it when we make things that are healthy for our families and they don't even know it! I never used an electric better, did it by hand. Never thought of it, that it could make a difference. I keep coming up w/different ways to have sandwiches w/out bread and they love it too. Georgia girl- good to hear you're feeling better! Okay people--we need to stop feeling bad for what we've eaten. We need to acknowledge it, deal with it and then get over it. We are people too and can eat the same thing as everyone else, just not as much. I have people asking me "what can you eat" when we go out for lunch. I say "anything, where do you want to go?" Don't beat yourself up for eating something that you love and or have missed. We all do this but not often and it shows! I'm proud of all of us for doing a great job! Keep it up!

This is all that I used, nothing else that the box asked for and my cakes came out moist, full size and delicious. I used a full can of soda too. I also heard that you can do this to box brownies too. (haven't tried that one yet) Georgia girl: I hope you're feeling better. Slim: I too have been on and off my game. I start out good and then....But it's not that bad and we are way ahead of the game because we know how to get back on track. Please keep us posted on how your cakes, cupcakes or muffins turn out! ______________________________ Sat: 11:30 B/2oz cooked sausage, egg, amer. chz (I was only able to eat half) 1:30 s/1oz Honey Nut Cheerios 3:00 L/The rest of my breakfast (only half of that cause I dropped it as I took it out of the microwave ), 1c cantaloupe, Ralph's Sweet & Salty 170 cal, 3 chips w/salsa 5:30 s/Mor Store-1 choc chip cookie, small bag of buttered popcorn, 8oz soda (regular) 7:00 D/2 Teriyaki chkn 140 cal ea. 10:15 B/1c Cantaloupe (60 cal), 100 cal pre packaged snack 1:15 L/Teriyaki chkn, 4 carrot slices, 1 celery cut up & cream cheese and pb added (1t of ea.) 2:15 s/100 cal Little Debbie chocolate cake 8:30 D/flr tortilla, 6 slice deli ham, chipotle BBQ sauce (2 T), 1T Blue Cheese, 15 corn tortilla chips w/1oz cheddar cheese, 100 cal Little Debbie chocolate cake Water: 60oz 2% Milk: 32oz I had been craving chocolate and the Little Debbies did the trick. I need to keep it to one a day. Or I need to make my own. I found a recipe on another site for soda cake. I made cupcakes, added 3 carob chocolate chips to them and it was wonderful, everyone loved them. So if I make a box cake & add only a diet soda, then there is only the calories left from the mix itself and if I add 3 carob chocolate chips (estimated 1 cal per chip) that would be added to the calorie count too. With the one box I have here (Duncan Hines Moist Deluxe Devil's food cupcake) that would make my cupcakes 83 in total calories. So yes I can make this myself  Oh I'm in seventh heaven now!! I should be able to freeze these (freeze for a day and then vacum seal the next and then back to the freezer)

I did okay!! I stayed the same--no gain or loss?! Today was a blur - Got up early to run errands, all was ok until my youngest DS had an accident on his scooter. He fell and hurt his left hand. Ended up at Urgent Care for 3.5 hours though. He's ok, just sore. So just when I thought I’d be on top of my meals and journaling, this happened. Did good though, didn’t eat junk food all day but didn’t eat like I usual do for the day, every 1-2 hours or drink like I usually do. Ya; I was hungry! Today: 8am B/Oatmeal 11pm s/small bag of gummies 2pm L/Tuna Salad on flour tortilla w/lettuce, 2 sl American Chz, 7 Doritos chips 3:30p s/Nature Vlly Oats & Honey 1 of a two pack 8pm D/Tuna Salad sandwich on white, 7 Doritos chips Water: 48 oz georgia girl-how did you do at the party?
