the reason they want you to do liquids is to clear your liver so they have room to work. You want everything to go well right? Try a little harder. You will be fine. My surgeon does not do liquid diets and I found out she has the surgery years ago. Hang in there

so my sleeve was the 21st. the surgery was difficult from previous scare tissue. Post op I had vomiting. Everytime I went to belch I threw up. Remember they put gas in your belly. So the first day I was without any fluids. Stayed an extra day. Fluids went slowly I am almost pain free now. I feel like normal except for some numbness in my belly from the lidocaine or cut nerve endings. which both may take a while to completely go away. I am not taking any narcotics just Toradol IV. I CANT WAIT to go home and get some rest. I may have slept 2 hours straight in two days.

I just had my televisit with my surgeon. She said that I will be on a Toradol drip, as well iv pain meds and ice packs to apply to my belly. I will dry to video my experience to share. I hope I don't send anything crazy while I am on those meds. lol

Well surgery was yesterday now. Gas pain manageable. My nervousness has turn to excitement for the future. Time to put me first. Keep smiling everyone, you are worth the effort.

Honestly, I think you made the right decision. Everyone's case is different and you could very well do absolutely fine! I had quite a bit of nausea and pain for the first 18+ hours. You may do absolutely amazing with minimal, even no pain or nausea! But, why take that chance? I will be praying that things will open up very soon and you will be able to have an uneventful surgery!! Also praying for your daughter's recovery!!

Yay, after reading these forums for the past year I can finally post!
I'll be having my VSG on July 20th, which just happens to be my birthday!

I was sleeved yesterday! I feel pain and pressure in my belly and shoulders. I was given pain meds and muscle relaxers. I was expected to be discharged today but Plan changed for tomorrow.
I am on clear liquid for now, tomorrow I start adding Protein Shakes to my diet

I just rejoined the page yesterday. I read through many forums which are great! I wanted to add one to see if it can inspire me to be more successful in my preop and postop weight loss. As we all know the journey is hard just to decide to go through the process .for the surgery in the first place. What have you thought or started doing to help your life change to lose weight and keep it off? They say it takes 21 days to rewire the mind to break a habit. Today I am started with not eating after 8pm.

i have my date july21st I am having the sleeve. We do a two week diet my starts sunday lots of Protein in meat or shake and 6 servings of vegetables a day, I found a garlic ad herb grinder seasoning from bjs that is amazing. I even purchased some pans that can cook and the food slides off into the pan without oil. I found I have to find ways to remindmyself to drink. I am going to make frozen popsicles from my protein drink.I purchased popsicle mold from Amazon. The biggest thing folks is to get that designated Fluid in. The misery is multiplied by dehydration.

First I wanted to say hang in there. Please dont read anymore insurance stuff.Its just going to get your blood pressure up.
I too have the band put in April 2009.I had lost 55 pounds before and nothing afterwards. I did gain a Hiatal hernia and gastric paresis. after 2 tries I had the band let and lived with pain for years. Finally I had removal in 2016. The doctor offered another procedure and I said. Good thing I did my hernia was huge and I needed time to heal properly before anything else. So 4 years later I am now a whopping 336 as of this morning. I was approved Wednesday. But Monday the insurance kept asking for lots of info. I was told it there usual and that I had a procedure before the guarantee was there. I hope you do not have t appeal but your doctors know how to get it done So dont worry.

I heard of all the cancellations and got worried, but have been assured by my surgeon that I am good to go. He stated he was fixing a hernia at the same time as the Gastric Bypass, so I won't be cancelled. 11 more days till surgery, getting excited to start this journey. The Pre-Op is not so bad when I think about it one day at a time and make the decision everyday to stay on track. Good luck to all. Keep Smiling.

2nd day of pre-op liquid diet. Boy does that exhaustion come from out of nowhere. The headache isn't helping either. Feels like dehydration, but I am downing Water like it's going out of style.

My surgeon says no to Premier Protein because the Protein is not a protein isolate😢 So 5 more days of the nasty stuff. I have gotten this far without cheating, so pretty sure I got this, thanks in part to all the encouragement here. I also started a day early because I wanted to start on a day off rather than a Monday, so I am 10 days in. Just a bit jelly of your haul😊 I like premier Protein Shakes. We have had them around for quick meals for years. Wishing you a wonderful pre-op diet, buddy!
