  1. If anything I would think it would help you! The insurance looks at the fact that you had the willpower to loose that much. As my surgeons said, most of us that are so much over weight are there because we have health issues that put/keep us there. There are very few people in our positions that can loose that amount of weight and keep it off without the aide of WLS. Good luck!
  2. I have 35 more pounds to loose and I can definately feel my port if I push down on it but I don't think it'll protrude at all once I'm at goal. I've lost 100 pounds in 8 months.
  3. DEFINATELY!!! I've lost 81 pounds in less than 6 months, am off all medications-cholesteral, high blood pressure, diabetes, heart & P.C.O.S meds! No more joint pain! Feel incredible! Sleep Apnea is improving and my family can put their arms all the way around me when they give me hugs! It was the best thing I've ever done for myself and my health! Wish I had done it a lot sooner!
  4. I was banded on May 1, 2009-almost 6 months ago. I started loosing hair by the handfuls also at about 4 months. I was told by my dr. to use Nioxin or Pantene and to take biotin. He also said to make sure that you are getting in at least 65-75 grams of protein a day. I'm at 5 1/2 months now and it is slowing down substantially. Apparently it's a normal process and it'll start growing back after a couple months, so don't worry too much. Good luck!
  5. Hi Jeepman, Like I said in the previous post...get the nose pillows if you can! My C-pap is set at 15, hoping to go way down on that setting soon. Good luck with yours! They really aren't that hard to get used to, and you'll feel SSSOOO much better!
  6. Tory, Did you use the mask or the nose pillows? I have severe sleep apnea and use the nose pillows, they're so much easier to deal with than the mask!!!!! I'm very closterphobic!!! I had to redo my first sleep study because I had an anxiety attack because of the mask! Once they gave the pillow I had no problem. You really do feel a lot better once you get used to the machine. It was like night and day for me! I just did a home apnea link and am hoping that I can turn down my C-pap setting since I've lost 70+ pounds. I really hope to get off completely soon. Good luck with yours!
  7. Laura, you look amazing! Way to go with the exercising! I'd probably loose a lot better if I'd be consistant with the exercise! You're inspiring girl! Keep it up! Make sure you have a video camera to get the expressions on your families faces! I'm looking forward to the same thing at Christmas time with family! Oh yes, I do know what you mean about the strange sounds...very odd isn't it!? Not to mention embarrassing at times!
  8. Thanks for your responses. It's nice to know that it's fairly normal.
  9. I was just wondering if anyone else was or has had the same issue I'm having... It's been almost 2 months since my last fill, I actually went back a month after for an unfill, after realizing that was my problem at the time-thanks to the advice of the wonderful people here at LBTalk. Now, I have different restriction everytime I eat practically! Is this normal? I can eat 4-5 ounces sometimes and not even 1-2 ounces the next! Tonight I ate 1/2 of a tiny little avacado and I started sliming with that, didn't even get to start my protein! I cut it into tiny bites and its a soft food. It just seems strange to me.
  10. My mom had a stroke at age 53 from sleep apnea. Because of this I went in for a sleep study and had it worse than my mom. At the time of my study, I weighed almost 300 pounds though. My sleep dr said that when I lost 20% of my weight that I should come back in and do another test. I have an appointment next week to talk to him again about a second sleep study now that I've lost enough weight. Sure would be nice to get off that machine!
  11. I'm 4 months post op. A few weeks ago my 16 year old daughter was giving me a hug and said, "Wow mom! I can put my arms all the way around you!" She's never been able to do that before! It was a great feeling!
  12. Hi Early! Just wondering how you were doing...are you banded yet? If so how's it going for you?
  13. Congratulations on the triplets! Wow! How fun!:tongue_smilie: Yes, I agree with everyone else...the lapband surgery is nothing compared to a C-section. It'll be a breeze for ya! Good luck and let us know how you're doin!
