I had fantastic energey until I started drinking coffe again in the morning, yesterday especially I was like a walking zombie!!!!! even the venti quad shot skim cappucinno I had did not do a thing for me! For those of us on the East coast, I don't think the weather is helping much either.. but they're saying next week is supposed to be beautiful all week.. RAIN RAIN GO AWAY SO THE EAST COAST BANDERS CAN GO WALKING AGAIN!!!!

Mayo Banditos / Friday Weigh In !!!!

Weigh to go everyone.... I unfortunatly am still stuck. The weather has been so bad the past 2 weeks that All I want to do is just go for a loooooooong walk. And Go to the gym already.... Good news is the jeans fit comfortably, but the water weight is killing me to the point where I called the doc about water pills, thats my big problem, even reducing my sodium intake and watching every single calorie (at about 800-1,000 a day) Gram of fat (do not exceed 20 throughout the day) and my restrictions are give or take. I still bloat everyday at 4:00 to the point where it doesn't look like I lost a lb. Reduced the caffine intake, Drinking water or diet iced tea, I've been on solids for like a week and a half with a no-go. I can not wait for my first fill next friday, and to get the go ahead to go to the gym. The most noticable places of my dreaded 16lbs is in my arms, Most of the time my face, and my waist (Bottom back roll has all but dissapeared) I'm so frustrated. I too like Maclynn am 4'11 (Only I have 3/4 which should not be neglected!) I'm stuck at 191lbs.
  4. Hey everyone, I've been on this board for about 3 weeks now, and Well, Though I've gotten a lot of post-op advice I can not find one single smidgen of help when it boils down to my insurance. I have Family health plus w/ medicaid. I'm currently awaiting approval from The insurance company (26 pages worth of notes were sent to them including a letter from my orthopedist (severe osteo-arthritis in my hip) as well as a sleep study I had done (sleep apnea) and a batch of other things no other 27 year old should have. My orig. Surg. date was may 7th. They moved it to the 21st b/c of my pcp & the insurance co. I am the first health plus patient my surgeon has seen. They gave me the referrals to see him with the obesity code as the reason. I just can't find anyone that has Health plus and has had the surgery. I know My answer is out there!!!!! So please step forward. This past week waiting for a response has been agonizing, I just don't want to go through next week (starting the liquid diet only to be told it's postponed again) dissapointed & starving! Let me know PLEASE?!?!?!?! Thanks

How do you know when you have eaten too much??

I found that your body tells you. It's weird but You just know.
  6. sarahbellzz14-4

    Sudden (mild) nausea?

I had that too, I still get it, usually it's from either eating too fast or eating too much... Thats what I have learned

Banding on May 21st 2009. Who else?

I'm on soft solids, and I'm at a complete stand still weight wise, getting my first fill next wek (fingers crossed) It has been raining non stop here in NYC so everytime I put the sweats & sneakers on it's torrential downpour & The days it's cleared up and been beautiful I've been stuck in the office!!!! (JUST FINISHED 11 DAYS STRAIGHT of working)
  8. Last week I basically stayed the same... Started soft solids and have been nothing but bloated since. And of course my first day off in 11 days and it's supposed to rain for the next 3 (which I am off for all 3) So there goes the harty walks I planned on taking, but first fill is supposed to be next friday so lets hope I get in gear again.

  9. It's not only HFCS(that stuff is just evil, and it's a shame that it's banned in almost every country but here)..... Glueton, White Sugar, White flour and the extreme amounts of carbohydrates we all consume. It wasn't my surgeon who said it. it was my PCP, who is a cardiologist as well. For some of us it's genetics as well (myself included) As for the soda thing, Unless your drinking kosher coca-cola, your consuming HFCS, And don't get me wrong, I love my coca-cola, BUT, I took a sip of it the other night of a can that was sitting out for more then an hour, and Thought I was having a heart attack from the gas it caused, and ended up throwing it up. And there are a few posts on here where people have had the same experiences.
  10. Well That is awesome it went so well, you were nervous for nothing!!!! Yeah I should make my way to a support group one of these weeks.

    I just don't think I'm ready yet.

  11. Well congrats on your date. My B-day's the 17th of july, and It's the first year I can't completely gorge out on the best food!!! But hey, Thats the whole point of this So you have basically a month to prepare, Thats really good, and you can start with little changes first (switching from sugar to equal, reg. soda to caffine free etc) Is your doc making you go liquid before hand? even if he doesn't I would still reccomend it (preperation & a jump start to wl) Anything you need to ask, I'm here to help.... again, congrats, Don't be nervouse be proud!

  12. SGW.... Silly question.... is it a Low Fat caeser salad? b/c the pre-op diet besides the medical reasons to do it, is usually your starting point for your new life with the band, such as going sugar free, doing without caffine and carbonated beverages etc. This way by the time your post op, you've detoxed most of the caffine, sodium and sugars from your body(which is lbs off from the get go). I was on a liquid diet for 2 weeks before my surgery, and in that time from switching out "normal" things I lost 8lbs pre-op. Post op so far, I've lost 16. I've read it on here a few times (and closer to my surg. date had that mentality) that it's my last batch of freedom with real food so I will indulge while I can!. My doc put it this way, There is a reason we're all getting this surgery, and it has to be 100% obvious who the enemy is here, and it's not food, it's our self control over food. I don't mean to sound rude or like a drill seargent, but if there is such a thing as mental preperation, it starts with change: change of ingredients, Change of mentality towards yourself, and preparing yourself for your limitations and not being angry because you can't have a coca-cola for the next 6 months to eternity. This is your life, your health and your future. So good luck.

What food stage are you at? What are you eating?

Yes 2-4 oz. though I've been pushing it the past few days! I started with Crab shumai, Which when I weighed the peices they were a 1/2 ounce each, and I was only able to really eat 3-4 peices (8 came in the container) There is no secret to preventing a PB it's basically a lesson learned type thing. Some things will just no longer be your friend (lf deli turkey & baked rice balls & ricotta cheese, Bread whether toasted or not for Me) And somethings will become your best friend that you never ate before (shrimp, Salmon for me) I've found that it's become basically Trial by error. So yeah, with the halibut, try baking, grilling or poaching it with some fresh garlic & lemon (my hub's recipe- Though he still swears by Sea Galley's)
  14. So, I saw a former co-worker last night who happens to live about a block and a half away from me Loitering by my house. I being ever so gracious and courteous Say hello and ask how she is doing? she rolled her eyes at me and gave me a smug look and proceeded to ask me if I lost weight or am I just not bloated today. In complete shock, I just looked at her and said, I lost weight, But I see you've gained a ton, I have some fat girl hand me downs if your interested, After the shock set in, this Bitch proceeded to tell me that Cocaine is doing WONDERS for me. I was about a quarter inch away from punching her in the face (99% of the time I respect my elders, but when it comes down to this degenerate peice of white trash I don't bother to bite my tongue) when the words It's not drugs, it's healthy eating, unlike your anorexic daughter, came out of my mouth. She proceeded to tell me to go fuck myself, I'm in denial about my "addiction" and she knows the "truth" about Shit-head junkies like myself (and she used to be), While I screamed I hope your disease (*disclaimer* I do not wish any disease on ANY HUMAN BEING ON EARTH as I myself suffer from Severe osteo-arthritis at 27yrs old) eats your insides and kills you in a slow painful death you fucking twat. Whats the point here? I'm learning more and More that sometimes it's better to be safe then sorry about who you tell when it comes down to being banded, But sometimes you get that one piece of shit who thinks they know everything about you when in fact they know absolutly nothing about you to even make an assumption. The more and more people notice little changes with me, the more clear it becomes to me that it's best to just say "diet & excercise" unless they are 100% tried and true trusted. And thats where I'll stop. P.S- 1 person's ignorant comments are not worth 3-5 for agrivated assault!
  15. I'm eating anywhere from 600-1000 calories today, walking at least 45 mins as well, desperate to start at a gym, first fill 6/26
  16. Hey lady hows it going?

  17. sarahbellzz14-4

What food stage are you at? What are you eating?

It's a good transition...... For some reason I am able to tolorate Pasta, but bread, even toated makes me gag. I was told at this point I can have a toasted english muffin, yeah not happening... My first real solid was shrimp & crab... and girl, you have the fresh halibut & crab up there.... The crab, Shrimp & lobster are really easy to eat b/c they are light. If your not looking forward to it, then gentley ease into it. I wasn't ready either, I still have at least 1-2 liquid/mush meals a day. incorporate it slowly, likesay, Salmon with very well cooked pasta, or poached chicken with string Beans..... You'll be o.k. your going to find what your limits are with solids. What works and what doesn't.
  18. The Only Mental preperations I really did was The liquid diet and learning the ability to say NO. I also found doing the grocery shopping for after my surgery (liquids, puree, etc) was a big help. The night before my surgery, My Fiance had McDonalds, Determined to succeed, I had chinese soup. Little things like that, Keep yourself hydrated, and Start to figure out if your really hungry or your dehydrated. Stop drinking caffine, Soda, Regular Iced tea, and switch to diet. Caffine free AND STAY AWAY FROM SODA!!!!!! You'll miss it, but After your banded, even when you take 1 sip, you'll regret it, because it hurts!!!!!
  19. Most insurence will cover (if it's in their policy) if Your BMI is under 40 but you have at least 2 or more co-morbidities and are mandated to be under observation for medical & neutrition for at least 6 months, which is what I had to do. I have Health Plus here in NYC, I had to go to my dr. once a month for 6 months, get a psych evaluation, sleep study, EKG, Chest x-ray, Neutrition consultation as well as have 2 letters supporting the decision for my surgery, which I have severe hip arthritis so my orthopedist wrote a letter and provided my insurance with both my X-rays and MRI reports, I have sleep apnea, high cholesterol etc.... So I qualified in 7 days with my insurance. and I have the Sh*tty insurance, To the point where I was my surgeons first patient with it.

    ummmmmmm, sex after banding?

I was told a week later, and thats what we did..... I've found that I have NO drive the past 2 weeks, and Ladies, I learned this from inquiring with both my doc & my fellow banditos, As we lose weight, the estrogen that was stored in our fat is now released into the wild making us hormonal nightmares.... According to my doc (gyn) it's very common to "go into heat" 1 week, and completely change your direction the next, So basically when the moment comes, go for it. Also, I know a few cats that actually feel their ports move during, I didn't experience that at all.
  21. How did it go the other night? I'm sure you did fine.
