Wow tina - you really have been to hell & back. I think you should tell your story at one of the meetings. It really helps to inspire people to hear that even thru all that crap and all the emotional stress you go thru on a daily basis that you CAN win the weight loss battle and food addiction battles. It also is a great lesson on learning to take care of yourself and your needs first even before work! I don't have that probelm at work LOL. Nicole, I wish I could get out of this house but I've been neglecting it these last few days and need to get some cleaning done around here. I'm posting & reading in between chores.

Good morning ladies, Hey Chris - I double checked my appt and it's in vallejo so it's not my CM appt. I have a feeling my PCP set it up when I emailed him about a weight check appt. I don't think he realized that I just stopped in and had it done. I will email him tomorrow and see if that's the case. I'm also going to call Richmond (anybody know what number I should call?) to see if I can get the ball rolling. Hey Reggie, who was the woman you told me to call? How do I reach her? Jes, I'm with you about gaining weight. I want to hurry up and do this because I'm afraid my scale will jump back up on me. Call me when you get back and we'll walk the bridge EVERY NIGHT after dinner! Donna, come join us! Tina, All I can say is - I just don't know how you do it. Yes you are a strong woman because I probably would have lost it. Lets push for equal rights for children & animals LOL. so glad you got rid of those pants - you are too cute to hide in them baggy baggy jeans! Nicole - thanks agian for your push the other day. I'm feeling much better about it now - not so nervous anymore. back to just wanting to get this done! Can't wait to share clothes with my size 12 friends LOL - you know me, im all about the long posts hahaha. You have really been inspiring with your weight loss success. Hi Riley - my cats sleep on me all the time - I hate it because then I can't move because I don't want to disturb their sleep - LOL funny how they never seem to worry about disturbing my sleep at 4 a.m. Ready for that walk so when did you say it will be finished?

Hi Hot42, Welcome! I have a great doctor who just referred me anyway without all the drama - it can't hurt to ask! If not, don't worry, we have a pre op, 1200 cal diet we can share with you - most of the ladies lost a whole lot of weight on it! Just not me  Riley, I certainly don't jog more than you!! I onlyl do the c25K 3 days a week and can't get past week 3! I think I'm too fat and out of shape to exercise LOL Donna, my love, you know i"ll be there and ready to eat. Thank you for all you do - keeping the group going and all! I would be about 25lbs bigger if not for you all! Hope the fill is going well! Nicole - I'm around - call me! I don't seem to have your number so if anybody on here does please PM it to me. Anybody else want to hook up? I'm home, on my butt, doing nothing - oh, but I got my nephew with me. Sorry you're so sad and that Elie needs a slap in the face! Pam - bring your daughter! I, for one, don't care! all these job layoffs would just stress me out to no end! Too many of you work for the county/state, etc.!! Grrr.

ooh wee, Tina, 10lbs would get me down to 195! I haven't been below 200 in about 4 years now. I want the weight loss to be a little slow - faster than it is now but slower than RNY - I like that my skin & body have a chance to keep up with the fat loss - might not really mean anything medically but mentally it makes me feel like my body will be in sinc with itself and perhaps the skin will have some time to shrink with it. I did put on a pair of jeans today that were like spandex on me before orientation so that's nice - I have room to breathe in them - they are 13/14 (shhh! - they are apple bottoms so they run big - fit like 16/18 but don't tell anybody - the fact that the lable says 13/14 makes me feel smaller - LOL) Wish you were in Vacaville too - Vallejo would be better - but you need to get that eye all better for tomorrow. I would love to get a fill with you Jes, are you waiting for me still?? hahaha

I'm so ready to just be banded! I'm hoping the initial weight loss from surgery & the liquid diet afterwords will get me to a point where i can actually see the difference and go down a pant size! Have fun Nicole - I live a few blocks from Six Flags! Maybe we can do a double date for dinner tonight or something - however, six flags can really wear you out - you'll, most likely, be pooped later. Call me if you're up to it.

Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
Nicole, we would never yell at you. It DOES, however, have to do with age in the manner that as you get older your metabolism slows naturally - BUT it slows down from where you started. I have always been a slower loser than a few of my friends and even now, they can't lose it as fast as they use to but still faster than me. Does that make sence. Like on a scale of 1 - 10 (1 being the slowest) I started around a 6 and have slowed to a 4. Where as my 1 friend started at a 9 and is now around a 5 (she slowed way way down) - This is how the endocrinologist explained it. Basically saying that just because it takes me longer to lose it now, doesn't mean I can't lose it! Oh, and she said that exercise will NOT take weight off - but It does keep you from putting weight on. This is why when you exercise too much your weight loss slows - because it is keeping you from getting in calories which puts your body into famine mode. ..Just what I learned yesterday... So I did NOT have any popcorn last night and it wasn't too hard because I had a purpose for NOT eating it. smelled really good though hope your family stuff works itself out soon and Elie calls ASAP So Jes, you're gonna wait for me then LOL It will take me a while to lose this last couple of pounds.

Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
Yeah, I think it has to be age related. I use to lose weight alot faster when I was younger. I could drop 20lbs in a month if i set my mind to it - of course, I'd gain 30 back! Now I can't seem to drop 2 pounds in a month LOL. Today is the hubby's b-day - I think I said that earlier.. Anyway, we are off to see Harry Potter - going to try to sneek in a cup of coffee so I can resist the popcorn a little easier! will talk to ya'll later

Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
haha Tamra, I did the same thing - It was like a panic or something. You'll get over it quickly. Just don't do too many carbs or it will be real hard to stop! Hi Tina - I just got back for the endocrinologist - don't waste your time! Actually, It was just a waste of my time because I already did all the blood tests a year ago and she said that I was "normal". But she said, you'll love this... you and I are like the Prius - we burn fuel efficiently and that's why we don't lose so fast as oppose to Heather who is like the Tahoe that just guzzles that fuel up and spits it out! Of all times to be efficient LOL. Heather, not implying that you aren't efficient!! Just that you're burning fuel faster  That broad made me weigh in anyway so after a big ol jug of water & 1/2c Tuna Salad I weighed 206.9 Grr! Almost 2 whole pounds!! The eye sounds painful!

Hey, Jes - it will all be fine Tina, hope you feel better soon!! Pink eye sucks! Heather, I have two friends that are pharmacists - they have been having ALOT of missing pain meds lately!! two totally different pharmacies! How bout some type of embezzlement - stealing drugs from the pharmacy and selling them on the street - inside jobs - I hear Viccodin goes for about $3.00 per pill. That would be the only thing I got up my sleeve :bored: Got my endocrinologist appt today - I decided not to weigh in and use that weight as it isn't until 1:30 in the afternoon and I was starving this morning - so I broke down and weighed myself before I ate - believe me I was prepared to go bullistic and break my scale but it was a little merciful to me: 205.6 So, I have .6 to go. Actually more like 2.6 because kaiser won't let me weigh in butt naked! I think weighing in the morning was a good idea becaue today is my husbands birthday and he wants to go see Harry Potter tonight - POPCORN! - but I feel encouraged since I finally lost that 4 pounds I was struggling with - just got the .6 and I don't want to jeapordize that with some tasty popcorn. I find that having a cup of coffee helps distract me when he's eating junk - now I just got to figure out how to have it without milk or soy milk adding those little extra calories! They need to come up with a "diet" milk - fat free, sugar free, calorie free - like Diet coke! Nicole, I'd love to get away - camping - but not this weekend!

Nicole, you are the poster child for lap band - you don't have ANY of the problems. No, I didn't get a name yet, I have to talk to the business office when they open tomorrow. Jessika doesn't have Kaiser, remember, she's in Virginia - so, what about the biopsy - anybody?
-
Kaiser Richmond Pre-op
Welcome back, Pam! I just got off the phone with Jessika/PnkPassion... she had her surgery on the 14th and just got home yesterday! She was in the hospital for 4 days - she got the band not RNY! she said she had a hard time breathing after the operation. She didn't have to lose any weight first and she felt like they didn't prepare her for anything, she has major gas and get this, she's drinking Water out of a straw! They didn't tell her not to drink out of straws! Poor baby! Ok, so she also got a letter from her insurance company saying the liver biopsy was denied.... she was unaware that a liver biopsy was being done. did any of you have that done during your surgeries?? Tina, Ur probably right, we eat to cover up our hurt & anger with our families. we can't turn to them so we turn to the kitchen! Grrr.

Jeeze laides, you think there's some relation to being the underdog in the family and being fat LOL Nicole, I highly doubt wild tree had anything to do with it too. It's a brand new card cuz my last one expired on 6/30 so I think that when I threw away the envelope and papers the new card came with, it forgot to shred it and someone got it. they shopped on line at kmart, old navy, virizon and ticket master (r. kelley tickets) glad they are having a good time hahaha. they spent about $1,500.

Nicole, I just got a call from my credit union - somebody is using my credit card to shop on-line so I had to shut it down. the only time I've used it in the last 3 months is for the wild tree oil. Anyway, I've cancelled the card - please let me know if the transaction for the oil didn't go thru.

Wow, Tina, that's harsh! I hope your mom lightens up soon. If she's so worried about what other people think then she shouldn't be telling them YOUR business. it would take the pressure off. My brother, was like your sister where he got everything handed to him and I had to work for it - but, i am thankful for that because i learned at a young age, as you did, how to take care of myself and now my brother is living with ME, in MY loft and i'm helping to take care of him AND his kids.

Speaking of watermelon... Have any of you ever been to the farm in Fairfield? I went there and got so much fruit & veggies (all for $30-so inexpensive) anyway, I got a HUGE seedless watermelon for 5 bucks and it is the best watermelon I've had in a very long time

Oh, see Tamra! The amount of weight you are suppose to lose, in my opinion, is strictly up to the surgeon! Look at poor Heater - WHO LOOKS AMAZING! - was told to lose 80lbs - that was almost 30%!! Also, Nicole, I did the C25K week 3 day 2 this morning and I have to tell you that I REALLY struggle with the last 3 minute interval (run). Not really sure if I will be able to progress to week 4 in time - i just may be stuck on week 3 for a while. My brother is the golden child in my family just as my dad was the golden child in his. My dads side of the famioy is VERY catholic and when we'd show up at a family function (my dad has 5 brothers & sisters) they would take one look at my dad & brother and say either - god and Jeasus Christ have finally arrived - or - her comes the good lord and his son. I was ALWAYS the invisible outcast. My Nonna (grandma) would call me clear out of the blue - we're talking 1 phone call in 3 years and say "Candra, I haven't been able to reach your brother since yesterday - is he alright?" So, Nicole & Tina you are definately not alone! LMAO

Morning all!! Congratulations Jes!! Goal wooo hoooo! Hi Donna, yes, I'm ok, kind of! Having major food issues so I've been trying to stay active and not sit on my ass in front of my computer. I went and hung out with one of my old friends and wouldn't you know it, we wound up at dennys at 11:30 pm - I had an egg white veggie omelet -no has browns, no toast but I ate the whole thing - my brother bbq'd last night and made mac & cheese for his kids - I ate some mac & cheese! grrr! I think the whole ecoli thing messed me up because i was so cranky and lazy I just ate whatever. Now I'm having a hard time getting back on track. Heather, I felt the same way! I thought if I could just do well on the pre op diet and get down to the 175 my Dr. said would be a good weight for my body structure I would forgo the WLS but, as it turns out, not doing well on it. not to mention, that i have lost weight before but ALWAYS gain it back. You are doing excellent on the pre op diet! I can't wait to see your new pics! Riley jane - I would so love to do the camping trip! Just so you know, the hiking things scares me a little because I'm so afraid i will slow everybody down. but I'm ok with being left behind to finish on my own as long as it doesnt bother anybody else!! Poor nicole! things can only get better from here LOL Tani (emily or emilie... help?) Dr. fisher made it perfectly clear that he is pro RNY at orientation so, when I walked in his office and he asked me which way I was leaning I said "I know you prefer RNY but after careful consideration, I want the band!" He asked why and I said because I don't have any real health risks that require that I get the weight off fast - I don't need fast weight loss - I need the life long accountability that I will have with the band! Just said ok and told me to get to 205 and email him when I'm there. Do what is best for you! I also want the band because it allows me to still be "normal" so to speak - I know I won't have any dumping with sugar - I know I can't eat alot of it but I want an occasional glass of wine on special occasions & a small slice of cake on my b-day and a piece of valentines candy... things like that. BUT THESE ARE JUST MY FEELINGS - please don't think I'm trying to sway you in my direction. Sheena, what was the deciding factor for you to get RNY over the band? Hey Tamra - there was something I wanted to say to you but it has slipped my mind - I know as soon as I hit submit, it will come to me hahaha Hi Tina. Remember I told you bout my friend that is now a 'size 11' - well, now I see how she does it. I have 3 pairs of apple bottom jeans that are a very stretchy 13/14 and they fit me now - like a size 16/18 - So since she gave me all her clothes, we went to macy's so she could get some new pants - oh, boy, was it fun watching her SQUEEZE into the American Rag size 11 with the 4% lycra in them. I should mention that she is one of the body types that carries most of her weight in the middle so she's has nice legs. She's very cute but now she's going to be really uncomfortable. I didn't say anything to her about it and i wonder if i should have....? Am I not being a good friend if i told her that she should go for the 13/14 sizes? Reggie, How are you miss lady? can you give me your sisters website?

Good night, Tina Wow Riley, your poor baby! Now, about your 17 year old... Is he single? LOL Just kidding! I think all teenagers go thru that ass stage! Well, I never did simply because my daddy whouldda whooped my butt - he belived the only thing teenagers understand is pain. hahaha - as messed up as it sounds - it worked! I wanna go campling :wink2: We always use to camp at lake mendocino as when we were young. Big family thing! My husband says "black men don't camp" I'm not buying that! He's just afraid :scared2: Hey, Riley - have you ever thought about finding out about your biological parents? being that I've never had to deal with this issue I would've never thought about the ramifications of not knowing anything about your families medical history background. Like I know that cancer it prevelent on both sides of my family - both my parents died from brain tumors, and their parents passed from various types of cancer... so i am very aware of every bump, lump or discoloration if find. My moms sister is going thru chemo & radiation right now - lung & throat cancer! Now that I think about it, I might be a little happier in life NOT knowing all of this!

Time to get off my soap box and follow along: Jewell - you're a super star! 187 is damn near goal weight for some of us.Seriously, just go weigh in with your PCP - at lease you'll know exactly what the weight difference is between your scale and theirs - weight with the same clothes on. I bet you'll be at goal on their scale too. Wear that cute little sun dress you had on at the last group in Sac - it probably didn't weigh an oz - Shoot, go commando if you need to! Just had a thought, maybe I need to be walking thru the pain like you're suppose to do after surgery - both my kidneys are swollen - grrrr! I've been so bad with food lately that I'm having coffee for dinner - I really notice the difference in my hunger level when I eat crappy. I'm more hungry!!! Pray for me, Riley Jane, that I get lucky like you and will have dropped a pound or two by eating more and exercising less - hahaha - not likely since I don't work out avidly as you do. a girl can dream, can't she?
