We lived in Lakeland Florida, then moved to Indiana, now live in Texas. Absolutely loved those Florida years, though. BTW, best of luck with your lapband! My 20 year old daughter had the band on June 22 at the age of 20 and has lost almost 55 pounds. I monitor the website to get ideas on how to help her. But she's doing great on her own and has found the "journey" quite rewarding. The band is everything we could ever have hoped for her.

I used to live in Florida about 40 miles from Orlando. When you mention "beach", do you want ocean or gulf? Orlando is about midway from Daytona (ocean) and Tampa (gulf). If you have kids, Orlando is nice for Disney, Sea World, Universal, etc. If you don't, I would skip Orlando and head for beachfront.

I'm actually the mother of a 20 year old female college sophomore who recently had lapbanding (june 22). We are also new here in Texas, having moved from Indiana. She currently knows NO ONE her age here, much less anyone with recent surgery. Anyone out there who can correspond with my daughter? I think she is really sick of me and would like to talk with someone her own age who is going through the same feelings/experiences. We live in Dallas. Thanks!
