  1. I bought a Vitamix for just that reason. I add spinach and sprouts to my Protein Shake. I made Soup broth with a sweet potato, 2 carrots, a can of cannellinis, and some chic broth. I've made yummy lowfat spinach pesto. Anyway- I have had trouble getting enough veggies in too. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  2. Eat a few crackers? I'm not a middle of the night eater so I figure if I wake up hungry then I really am. If you're awake you could try drinking some broth. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  3. She will not change. Toxic moms do not change. Work on yourself and either set clear boundaries with her or take a long break. She is MEAN!!! If your daughter had a friend who treated her that way- what would you say? Do that! -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  4. Your only too tight when it's constant, not periodic, although I may agree when too tight for liquids! I can eat chips- not that I should! -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  5. Nah- I have days like this periodically. Usually it's hormonal. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  6. Just reminding myself to have another smoothie and be grateful for my band. Still- I'm hungry!!! -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  7. To cut my mom out. She has to be nice to me and my kids or she is cut off. She is toxic. My mother has always been mean to me about my weight too ( not as bad as yours though). I would also suggest therapy. Love yourself enough to set boundaries with her or get help doing it. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  8. Cut her out. It took me 3 years after my band -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  9. I had the same thing. I had a leak about 18mos after having the procedure. I had my band fixed and am glad. I also got a smaller port and they found a hernia that they fixed. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  10. I am gluten intolerant so am GF too. I was diagnosed by a holistic chiropractor. It made so much sense. I also am sensitive to soy and corn so avoid those. I've been GF (mostly) for a few years. Any questions??? -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  11. First time I was preggers (before band) I lost during the first trimester due to my fabulous "food rental" program (puking all the time) but I made up for it in trimesters 2 & 3 -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  12. I gained 120 lbs when preggers- all I had lost. I am back down 92. I had to have an infill cause hormones made me so tight I couldn't drink so my doc went on the conservative side and took a bunch out. If you can eat and drink, you do not need an unfill. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  13. I was told something similar. Here's the thing. If the food is covering deep feelings of anger with each other, if you do not have a strong foundation, then those already existing issues will be exposed. Also, feeling are strong and very loud (for me they were) when not sedated by the quantity of food being eaten. If you do have a strong relationship, then you will weather this like all challenges. My hubby and I are fantastic 4 years later. Remember before you were married? Everyone told you that 50% of marriages ended in divorce? This is similar. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  14. Vitamin Water, smart water, lip balm -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  15. I don't think I'll ever get mine out- talk to me in 10 years! -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  16. I self payed with Dr. Scott Steinberg in Atlanta. He is very good. We had to use a credit card for part and take a second mortgage for part, and it was totally worth it. Follow up and fills are KEY to success so make sure you're going to do all that long distance too. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  17. If you just had surgery, it might be a risk but otherwise your fine. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  18. I guess it's about 1" diameter? It seems thinner too. My first port was really uncomfortable, especially during "intimate" times (sex). I am so glad I had it replaced before I got preggers because I think it would have been really painful. As a self pay patient, I was really reluctant to have a second surgery just for "comfort" but then my band stopped holding its fill so I had to. He also moved it to a more comfy spot. I almost never feel it now unless I'm looking. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  19. I hate it when that happens. You'll find that over time you'll learn what types of foods and situations lead to stuck- and avoid them. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  20. Ive talked to people who told everyone, some few people, and no one. Do what feels right - as long as YOU are supported. Also, even though the medical procedure is short, the recovery may not be. Just follow your gut! -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  21. Call your doc about flipping. My first port was very intrusive. I had to have revision surgery for a different reason and my doc put in a new smaller port. Much better. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  22. My doc always does it under X-ray and with lidocaine- if your nervous, get the drug! It hurts! -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  23. I had the lap band and after 1 yr it broke (not my fault). I had to have revision surgery and I had been self pay. Allergan actually told me that the package said it had no guarantee! So we had to save and pay for revision surgery. I gained back about 60lbs. Anyway, a friend's realize band broke and they paid to fix it. -Cordelia, banded 1/08
  24. I always get lidocaine - I can't take the pain without it -Cordelia, banded 1/08
