Shiratake Noodles
I've had them numerous times and really enjoyed them! I didn't find the foul smell everyone talks about??!!! I opened the package, rinsed them and cooked them up, added some spaghetti sauce with a few meatballs and VOILA! They weren't fantastic but they weren't bad either. Try them out (they're only about $2) and judge for yourself

Frustrated...
Lori-- I just called Syntrax and placed my order. They send you 13 samples for 9.99!!! It's a one time offer and a fantastic one at that! Imagine trying a different shake for almost 2 weeks!!! I'm excited. The number is 1-866-333-7403. Good luck and keep up saying goodbye to those lbs., you're doing great! Lovingly, monica:001_tongue:

Frustrated...
I loved: Syntrax nectar Fuzzy Navel & Roadside Lemonade and the strawberry Mousse (tastes like Nestle Quik!!) For 1.99 each I bought 17 samples and everyday I looked forward to having a new shake! Yum (although some were yucky but I had only lost 1.99). Good luck! Lovingly, monica:001_tongue:

Frustrated...
Lori-- I understand that it's difficult to find a Protein shake that you like; however, you mention you NEVER did this or that before surgery BUT you knew that by choosing this surgery you'd be having to change a lot of habits. Your blood count may have been great before surgery but remember your anatomy is completely different now. It is crucial that you get the protein in that you need! Your NUT is right about the Protein Bars. They are also very high in calories in comparison to the shakes. I don't mean to sound harsh but it really is important that we get our protein in without all the empty calories. Trust me my NUT scolded me for not taking in enough H2O and it was that slap on the hand that has made me refocus. May I suggest... Vitalady.com you can get plenty of samples before committing to a large tub of a Protein powder. Good luck and let's keep moving forward...WE can do this! Lovingly, monica:001_tongue:

*** Shrinking Feet ?***
ABSOLUTELY!!!! I'm 6 weeks out and yesterday I tried on a pair of shoes that once fit tight and they were flipping off me! I had to put them in the bag destined for Goodwill:sad0:. Protein Shakes and Staying Hydrated
Hi Lady E! Congratulations on your date! How exciting! I'm 6 weeks out and hope I can help you out! 1)I would go to Vitalady.com and order a bunch of samples. They're 1.99 each but you get to have a variety once you're out. And as others have stated, your taste buds change after surgery. 2)It is difficult to sip but I was so scared to drink too much so sipping felt "safe." 3) You do get VERY thirsty and nothing seems to quench it because you're only sipping. I ate a lot of ice chips, popsicles and icy Water (it didn't bother my tummy). 4) Getting the Protein I needed at the beginning was very difficult. I would tell you not to worry about it for the 1st couple of weeks, worry about staying hydrated. At about 3 weeks you'll be able to eat more and drink your shakes that have about 35g of protein. You'll be fine! I hope this was helpful. Lovingly, monica:001_tongue:

Do VSGers need Medical Alert Bracelets?
I spoke with my surgeon a couple weeks ago and she said the Medical Alert Bracelet wasn't necessary for VSGers. Yay, more room for other bracelets on my wrist! LOL:thumbup: Disp4so: I had my surgery at Kaiser Fremont :confused1:

Is it possible to drive 3 days after?
I think you'll be able to drive IF, and only IF you haven't taken your pain medication (or if you have, have it be 6 hours prior). Please be careful. Your safety and well-being is priceless and spending even if it's $100 on a cab ride it will buy you and someone else their lives!!! Wish I lived in your town to give you a ride!:confused1: Lovingly, monica:001_tongue:

Help!!
I'm going on 5 weeks out on Tuesday and my surgeon said I was free to eat anything (healthy, Protein first, yada, yada) as long as I made sure to chew, chew, chew and of course control my portions (listen to my tummy when it's full). I've eaten chicken thighs, pork, hamburger, and fish and have done just fine. The most carbs I've had are a tiny corn tortilla, a few wheat thins, and a piece of flatbread. Anyhow, I hope that helps. She told me to listen to my body and how it reacted! Good Luck! Lovingly, monica:001_tongue:

Gonna Pimp slap the person who invented protein powders
Ughhhh I know how you're feeling! I mixed my Protein powders with Silk Light Soy Milk and wow what a difference! I really, really, really recommend that you go to Vitalady.com - Protein supplements, Vitamins & Minerals, and Safe Snacks! and try samples of the different protein powders. They offer protein powders that you can blend with Water and they are refreshing beverages not just creamy (I was sick of creamy protein shakes). Well, good luck! Lovingly, monica:001_tongue:
