I have battled with weight issues ALL my life, putting on pounds and loosing them! I have tried every diet! every diet pill, including risky ones! laxatives, starving, binging, vomiting, etc
After having my 2 children I reached my peak weight of 2401bs + at 5 ft 4 I was morbidly obese, I suffered with Asthma, Arthiritis and a scoliosis of the spine, and my health was really suffering, my marriage broke down, my father was dying of throat cancer, and my daughter who we were told couldnt have children, found out she was pregnant!! this was late 2005. Enough was enough, I decided with what little money I had to get a gastric band. In the UK, this procedure wasnt well known, and I didnt think to approach my Dr for funding.
I contacted Dr Dillemans by email, after reading up on him. I made all the arrangements and went out to Belgium on April 20th 2006. I had my surgery on 21st April 2006, the changing point in my life. I am not saying it has been plain sailing, because it hasnt! I wasnt prepared for how life changing it was, no matter what the Dr said, it was less than half of what I know now. I had to find a local fill provider, as could not get down to London for these procedures.
It took me a while to find the right one, as I had fills without barium xray, which proved costly, as when I did eventually find a good Dr locally after 2 years, under barium I found out my band was leaking from the catheter portside! argh!!! no wonder I was still hungry, and had practically been starving myself to loose weight! (though I did find Zumba! which changed my life!! and helped me in them 2 years to loose 6 stone)
I wasnt recieving any follow up care! dietry advice, etc it was trial and error for me on my own! Anyway, I consulted Dr Dillemans, and had to go back to Belgium to have the faulty band fixed! A horrowing experience, because, I had to do this journey alone!
I have suffered acid reflux, vomiting, slobbering! numerous fills, unfills, a pouch! and am now 140lbs, my ideal weight is 126lbs. I am struggling at the moment, as am able to eat more food, tho am assured by Dr I have a good tightening!
I became a Zumba Instructor, starting my own business, Zumba Lievable, I have licences in B1, Toning, Gold, and teach 9 classes a week, this helps keep me slim!
I struggle with bread, red meat, salad, every day is different, what I can eat on monday I may not manage the next! Though the sad thing is I know possess a sweet tooth! ice cream, chocolate, biscuits, cake all slide down easily!!! Hopefully I will conquer this!
I have had an Abdominoplasty on NHS, also a revision, to correct a bulge left. Bi-lateral arm lifts, and breast implants and uplift, and a bit of lipo-suction these procedures I paid for, as could not get funding,, but still dont have the body I want!
Though it was quite a shock when I lost the weight, I resembled a melted wobbly candle! NOTHING prepares you for this massive change! I felt cheated! you are never prepared for that!
Although in clothes, my body looks ok, I need some more surgery, I just dont have the funds anymore, which is sad, as I am so close to achieving my PERFECT SELF!
