  1. By the way, I hope everything is going ok since the shooting. How are things there?

  2. Hi! My husband is in the National Guard so we aren't "stationed" anywhere. He is however home early from his deployment due to a foot injury. Anyways, I had my surgery at a civilian hospital; the closet base is in Washington, about 4 hours away from me. How are you feeling about your upcoming surgery? It's interesting that it is two days before Christmas!

  3. Why thank you:) I like my band a lot so far, although I haven't had it very long. When I start having restriction, we'll see how much I'm liking it. Ha. Naw but really, I can't wait for restriction , even if eating is much more difficult it will be worth it to see the weight loss. Where are you at in your band journey? Best of luck to you!

  4. Yo....I posted some pics finally. You should check them out.

does anyone eat bread or pasta?

My Dr. recommended that I cut back on bread and pasta, which I have, but I still eat it sometimes. I do try for whole grains, but have had white bread and regular pasta too and I haven't had any problems with it.

    People are just Rude!

I'm sorry that this happened to you. Some people are so rude. Perhaps it is because they are trying to hide their own insecurities; regardless it still hurts a lot. I have a similar coworker who is always giving me diet and workout tips, but I never asked her for them in the first place. She also feels the need to pick apart whatever I'm eating. She'll pick up the wrapper to whatever I have and read the nutrition facts and tell me whats wrong with it. She also asked me once if I had ever considered trying out for the "Biggest Loser." Oh and of course she's a tiny little thing. Well, I am just silently laughing to myself, and you should too, because a year from now we're going to look amazing and they will be speechless. For once.

    Fill under fluoro...failed

Honestly at this point I can eat almost the same as before surgery. I'd say around 2 cups satisfies me. I'm working really hard to stop before then because I know putting 2 cups(sometimes more!) into my pouch IS NOT GOOD. So I'll stop eating when I've had around a cup, but I'm literally hungry again an hour later. It's been tough, I'm just praying that I get that fill in December.

    port tilt

I'm in the same boat as you! Surgeon tried for about an hour with fluoro to give me my first fill and still couldn't get it. They're going to try again in a month and if it doesn't work we'll talk about a port revision surgery.
  12. I'm glad all went well. I'm sorry about the migraine, thats no good. Hopefully you breeze through the postop diet! My journey goes well. Since I didn't get my fill I'm working really hard and watching what I eat. I'm still losing, just at a slower rate. But I'd rather lose slowly than gain!

  13. Sue!! How did everything go? I've been praying for you! I hope you have a quick recovery. Give me an update as soon as you feel up to being on the computer. I know for myself it was at least 4 days before I could do anything. Hope to hear from you soon!

    Fill under fluoro...failed

I hope that if/when they are able to give me a fill they put in as much as possible like with Petunia, because if fills are going to be such a difficulty I'd like to limit the experience.
  15. Good luck with your fill tomorrow! Hope it all works out

    Fill under fluoro...failed

Maggie, I'm glad you were able to get everything resolved! I'm sure you're feeling very relieved. I hope they can fill it next time.

    Fill under fluoro...failed

My surgeon said that my abdomen is still a little lumpy from healing and that in another month it should be more flat, and I guess that will help locate the dome of the port. I sure hope thats the case. I'd really like to avoid a port revision surgery if possible.

    Fill under fluoro...failed

I know the needle looks awful, thank God for numbing medicine! This is close to what my Dr. did, except that they took an x-ray, then put the needle in and took another x-ray while the needle was still in so they could make sure it was in correctly (which it wasn't) and they had to repeat this over and over again moving the needle each time because the dang thing just could not find the dome of the port. I wouldn't say it was painful; but I sure was sore afterwards. Plus I had to drive over two hours round trip to get there, and to walk away with no fill was a bad feeling. But the only thing I can do now is work hard and rely on good old diet and exercise. Hopefully come December the fill attempt is successful!
  19. Haha, well...I HATE having my picture taken so I don't have that many. But I'll see if I can scrounge some up to put on here. I'm such a hypocrite....I hate when people don't have pictures up of themselves but then I don't have any of myself! *sigh*

  20. I'm almost 6 weeks postop and have lost about 15 pounds. I think they say you may not lose weight in this time period because your body goes through a lot during the healing process, and most people don't have restriction until they get fills. As usual though, everyone is different and some may lose loads of weight, while others may not lose any at all.
  21. Don't let this hinder your motivation...but I didn't lose the weight and they still did my surgery with no problem. You might want to just call them and ask. But still, its a good idea to at least try and lose SOME weight.
  22. Looking good girl!!!
