  1. I am just over 3 months out and I am adjusting really well I think. The most difficult part is not drinking with meals, it doesn't sound like it would be too hard but for after 21 years of doing it, it's a tough habit to break. Also of course eating slower and chewing more. But other than those things, adjustment has been really easy. It doesn't affect my life at all to eat less. The only times people even notice are when I'm in a social situation centered around food. With their large portions and eating fast and my small portions and eating slow, we finish at the same time anyways.

    EA Active for the Wii

Blaze is right you do not need the Balance Board to use Active. It is compatible with it though, so if you want to use it you can.

Does the weight loss increase your sex drive?

I sure hope my sex drive increases with weight loss. I'm only 21, my husband is 23, and we never have sex. Really, I think we have done it maybe 3 times in the last 6 months.:blushing: Oh and to top it off, we're newlyweds...just got married this year. I just don't feel like having sex when I feel like a look like a big blubbery whale, and my husband can tell that I don't enjoy it. So, it just doesn't happen.

    Mile Matchers!

I posted in the original thread because I didn't see this one, but count me in:smile: Maybe I can get my husband to join too; he is in the National Guard and his unit is overseas right now but he came home due to an injury...I think it'd be a great tribute to his brothers over there.
  5. I will walk too! I'll match what you walk every day. My husband is in the National Guard, and thankfully is not deployed due to injury but his unit is, and I think it's a great way to show support for all the Men and Women risking their lives over there to protect us. I guess this is a little off topic for the thread, but hey any support helps right? Oh and I'm sorry to hear about your struggles. I was feeling bad for plateauing for a month, but I guess it could be worse! I know you can do this!:smile2:

Leify- I hear you on those lunges! My thighs hurt so bad I can barely tie my shoes
  8. My Dr. just gives me a few injections of numbing medication at the site around the port

    Ouch :-(

WOW has this thread gotten out of hand or what? Nobodies feelings were meant to be hurt here, and there is no reason to be sensitive. All I meant in my post, which is what I wrote, is that I hope everything goes ok for you. plain and simple.

    Ouch :-(

6 cc's seems very aggressive for your first fill, let alone any one fill at all. I hope that doesn't cause you any issues.
  11. There is absolutely no way I could get a fill without numbing medication. My port is tilted so it takes many many tries with the needle, we're talking probably 30 tries in one sitting. I can't imagine what it would feel like without being numb. I'm sure you can request numbing medication, I doubt you're the only patient of theirs who has experienced pain.
  12. Hey girl. I read your blog about your unfil and refill and all that. What happened exactly? And why did they have to take it all out? Man that really sucks, I'm sorry to hear about this little bump in the road!

  13. I had an awful fill experience today and am wondering if this has happened to others. I'm 6 weeks postop, and went for my first fill today. After several unsuccessful attempts my Dr. decided to do the fill under fluoro (with an x-ray machine.) From what I've read on here fluoro fills are suppose to be great;quick and accurate. This was not the case at all. My Dr. still had trouble, and tried with that awful needled for another 30 minutes. I was actually bleeding from all of the poking and prodding. At one point I had 4 Dr.'s in the room trying to figure it out. My port has shifted and the angle is weird, but I still figured they'd be able to do it. So they sent me home and told me to come back in a month so we could try again. I'm just really disappointed because I was so looking forward to getting this weight loss going. Most people get their first fill 4-6 weeks postop, I'll have to wait until 10 weeks out. Has anyone else has such an issue with this? I hope I don't come across as whiny, I'm just very frustrated.

    Fill under fluoro...failed

Dr. Wolf at OHSU did my surgery. I actually have no complaints, except for the whole fill experience. But I'm not even sure it's his fault. It turns out my port isn't tilted at all, my stomach was just still very lumpy from healing and needed an extra month to smooth out.

    Fill under fluoro...failed

Just thought I'd give a little update.... I went in yesterday for another fill attempt. They did it under fluoro right off the bat because of how bad it was last time. Guess what? The needle went into the dome of the Port, first try! Woohoo!! I have 3 cc's now. So far I can notice a slight difference. My Dr. said I could come back in as little as a week if I want to get a 2nd fill because of how far back I was set. I'm going to see how the week goes and may go back in for another.
  16. Hi Sue! I just wanted to check in on you and see how you are doing. How are you feeling? Are you on mushies right now?

Just for Fun ... Describe yourself to me!

This is such a great idea! And since nobody else has responded yet, I guess I'll be the first to take the leap:smile2: I'm a 21 year old female. I'm pretty short, just 5'2". Right now I'm about 215 pounds, 20 down from surgery yay! I have petite face features, the two things people comment most on are my long eye lashes and nice teeth. Otherwise nothing stands out too much. I carry my weight fairly evenly, but like lots of women my midsection is definitely my trouble area. I have long wavy blonde hair, and sometimes I wear thick framed glasses that make me look like a librarian:wink2: Oh and I'm very fair; you know the blonde hair, blue eyed, light skinned type. I would love to hear you describe yourself! Let's see what image I come up with in my mind!
  18. I totally understand your hesitancy, it is a life changing event. Some people have a lot of issues with the band, while others have no issues at all. I guess you just have to weigh both sides, and see if it's worth it for you. Whatever you decide, good luck and keep me posted!

  19. I'm glad things are starting to get back to normal. You and everyone there are certainly in my thoughts and prayers!

  20. Of course! I decided to do this because i am only 21 years old and was already suffering side affects from my weight. I knew it would only get worse. I have tried everything, and honestly no diet worked for me for extended periods of time. I also want to have kids, and at the rate I was going, I knew that no pregnancy would be safe or healthy at my weight. What are you hesitant about regarding the surgery? besides the obvious reason that it is indeed major surgery, lol.

  21. Hi! I came across your post on a threat asking about tricare approval. I too have Tricare Reserve Select, I'm in the West region. It was honestly really easy for me. Just like having any kind of insurance, I went to my family Dr, she put in a referrel to a bariatric surgeon. I went to a consultation for the, they did lots of testing, finally sent the lap band approval to Tricare, and Tricare approved it in 3 days! It was simple for me, others I've heard have had issues. It's important to meet their requirements, either 100 lbs. overweight WITH an associated medical condition OR 200% of the ideal weight for your height, in other words twice as much as you should weight. I fell into the 200% category...5'2" and 235 lbs. Hope all goes well for you!

do you think i would be ok if i did this ?

Man I dunno, thats a long time to do a liquid diet. I know personally there is no way I could do it.

do you think i would be ok if i did this ?

Hi! When is your surgery again? I mean if this was a very temporary thing I think it would be ok...but if you're planning on doing this for an extended period of time I wouldn't recommend it. Especially if you'll be doing your normal day to day activities...working, taking care of kids, cleaning, etc. It doesn't sound like enough calories for much activity. I have heard of a lot of people on here doing atkins/low carb diets to lose some weight prior to surgery, you might think about doing something like that. Or Weight Watchers is another good one if you have enough time. Good luck!
  24. Hi! I noticed we have some things in common....both banded 9/24 and both started at about 235-236! Just wanted to see how a fellow bandster buddy is doing!
