Hi there! No Tricare did not require a 6 month diet at all. You can find their requirements online but basically to qualify you either have to be 200% you ideal weight for your height(so pretty much double what you should weigh) OR 100 lbs overweight WITH comorbitidies related to your weight...like diabetes or arthritis or sleep apnea. I qualified due to being 200% the ideal weight. At 5'2" for a small frame I should have weight 110-115, but I weighed 235 which is just over 200%.
I hope that helps you. People seemed to get really confused about Tricare's requirements sometimes.

I'm sorry you got depressed; the important thing is to hang in there and stay motivated. It can be really hard though, especially with big plateaus. I'm happy for you that you are below 200! What a bench mark! I've done pretty well so far, I recently started exercising quite a bit and it's reflected a lot on the scale. I'm at about 184 right now, so I've lost just over 50 lbs. I'm about half way there!

Hmmm well just hang in there. Stay strong until you get more restriction and then it will get easier. What are you doing for work these days?
I've been good. It's gone slower than I though it would, but I'm still happy with my band. I'm in Onederland now and it feels great. I'm sitting at 195, and it's been tough to get here but worth it!

I'm glad things are starting to get back to normal. You and everyone there are certainly in my thoughts and prayers!

Of course! I decided to do this because i am only 21 years old and was already suffering side affects from my weight. I knew it would only get worse. I have tried everything, and honestly no diet worked for me for extended periods of time. I also want to have kids, and at the rate I was going, I knew that no pregnancy would be safe or healthy at my weight. What are you hesitant about regarding the surgery? besides the obvious reason that it is indeed major surgery, lol.

Hi! I came across your post on a threat asking about tricare approval. I too have Tricare Reserve Select, I'm in the West region. It was honestly really easy for me. Just like having any kind of insurance, I went to my family Dr, she put in a referrel to a bariatric surgeon. I went to a consultation for the, they did lots of testing, finally sent the lap band approval to Tricare, and Tricare approved it in 3 days! It was simple for me, others I've heard have had issues. It's important to meet their requirements, either 100 lbs. overweight WITH an associated medical condition OR 200% of the ideal weight for your height, in other words twice as much as you should weight. I fell into the 200% category...5'2" and 235 lbs. Hope all goes well for you!

Hi! I noticed we have some things in common....both banded 9/24 and both started at about 235-236! Just wanted to see how a fellow bandster buddy is doing!

By the way, I hope everything is going ok since the shooting. How are things there?

Hi! My husband is in the National Guard so we aren't "stationed" anywhere. He is however home early from his deployment due to a foot injury. Anyways, I had my surgery at a civilian hospital; the closet base is in Washington, about 4 hours away from me. How are you feeling about your upcoming surgery? It's interesting that it is two days before Christmas!

Why thank you:) I like my band a lot so far, although I haven't had it very long. When I start having restriction, we'll see how much I'm liking it. Ha. Naw but really, I can't wait for restriction , even if eating is much more difficult it will be worth it to see the weight loss. Where are you at in your band journey? Best of luck to you!

I'm glad all went well. I'm sorry about the migraine, thats no good. Hopefully you breeze through the postop diet! My journey goes well. Since I didn't get my fill I'm working really hard and watching what I eat. I'm still losing, just at a slower rate. But I'd rather lose slowly than gain!
