Texas Medicaid Will Pay For Lap Band Surgery

I am responding to you several ways, hopfully you will see at least one. I live in DFW area of Texas, and have traditional medicaid. (Not Parkland supplement or Ameriquest, just Medicaid). I have a BMI of 42, with High BP, sleep apnea, and cannot climb stairs. My general practitioner has suggested this procedure, and says that in his opinion it is medically necessary. Center of Excellance - are you referring to the hospital? I looked and have found that Medical City of Dallas has announced that they have earned the title. So, now, how do I find a surgeon, I have called about 30 doctors on the medicaid list, and none accept medicaid, or they do not preform this procedure. Medicaid only gives me a list of "Gastroentologists", they do not have a list of bariatric surgeons. Do I just book an appointment with their Bariatric dept? PLEASE HELP!!
  4. Will you please tell me how to find a doctor that accepts medicaid in texas? I have traditional medicaid, and am having a HORRIBLE time finding a doctor that will see me. My general practitioner has said I need to have this done, but I can't find the surgeon. I see that you say in texas that it has to be a Center of Excellance. I am assuming that you mean the hospital. Medical City Hospital of Dallas where I live shows them self to have earned this title. Do I just try to make an appointment with anyone in their bariatric dept? Please email me at lh.jamison@yahoo.com with any help you can give me. I don't know how to check messages on here. I am assuming you respond in the forum?

  5. I have "traditional medicaid" and live in DFW area of Texas. My BMI is 42 with high blood pressure and sleep apnea, (no sleep study done yet, the cardiologist told me I had it while I was hospitalized for the BP). I have severe problems sleeping more than 2 or 3 hours at a time, and cannot climb stairs (- 1 flight). I have desperately been trying to find a doctor in the DFW area that accepts Medicaid. I cannot even find a doctor, seems that Medical city hospital accepts medicaid, but none of their doctors in their bariatric dept. accept medicaid. Can someone please help me?
