Congratulations Shell! I hope you're able to get some good sleep today. I was banded on the same day as you, so we're going through this together. If I can offer some advice, you might be interested in trying a cold compress on your incisions. I've been keeping ice packs on and off for 15 mintue intervals and it keeps the swelling down and pain diminished somewhat. Wishing you a comfortable recovery!!~~~~

What a jerk your doctor is! Seriously, I hope you can find someone else. I use Nuvaring...not an IUD, but a low-dose hormonal borth control that stays in for 3 weeks, out for one every month. I'm really happy with it.

I'm offically BANDED! Got home a few hours ago, in more pain that I expected. Surgery went well and my scars look neat. Left side is very sore, hard to get in and out of bed. I'm keeping a cold compress on the left side and taking pain meds, hoping to feel better by tomorrow.

Does anyone know when you find out surgery will be postponed? Could it be minutes before surgery prep is supposed to begin (IVs, etc?)

I agree with what others have said. I have gotten the worst reaction from people who are also overweight. I do think it has to do with their own weight issues, or with being threatened by my not being fat anymore. Unless she can tell you very clearly from a health care provider's point of view why she is so against this surgery, I would take everything she says with the view that she is probably having some kind of acting-out about her own issues, not yours. It hurts when someone whose support you were counting on can't give it.

My white cells came back high when I went for pre-surg testing last week (surgery is scheduled for this Thursday) and I was re-tested yesterday. Still waiting to hear whether or not it's a go. But yes, it certainly can be postponed due to illness. I hope you feel better soon!

I'm having 2nd thoughts and lots of anxiety. Knowing others have gone through it helps immensely. I just keep reminding myself of why I made this decision and then I feel better. Deep breathing and meditation help for me, maybe it would help you? Also, it sounds like you've had a lot of stress lately - your sister's wedding, plus drinking doesn't exactly put one in a calm state of mind, mentally or physically. Both things could be adding to your feeling out of sorts.

Lila, that is a really good point. I didn't even think about how I've used clothes size to kid myself that I wasn't gaining, and how I could miss cues that I'm losing. And I do want to know when I've lost, if I can just not get freaked out by a stall or small gain. Maybe I will get a scale....

Hi Larry! Welcome to LBT! I haven't been here very long myself, but everyone has been super supportive. We share a surgery month - come check out the September Bandsters thread on the general LBT page. I'm in day 3 of pre-op liquids. Last night I had headaches and I cheated - ate a section of a vegetable pizza, so I am no role model. If I could do it over again I probably would have gone out for a drive when the pizza was in the house. What has kept me from really going off the deep end is drinking a ton of Water, and remembering it's not for long, and for the best cause. Good luck!

Seriously, I feel like I hear a pizza commercial every hour. It's my liquids week and I'm so much more aware of food ads than ever before.

I actually don't weigh myself. I'm debating buying a scale now that I'm having LB surgery, but in the past I would get too consumed by the #'s. I'd prefer to measure my progress by energy level and clothes size.

I'm thinking of buying a wok. Started to research them and I see there are many different kinds, made of different materials. From inexpensive to $$$. If anyone is knowledgeable about woks and can recommend one I'd love to hear about. Thanks!

Yes Bettina, I noticed the site. But according to my nutritionist, it's not "bodybuilding". It's zero carb, low cal, low fat, hi protein. Much like the Medifast she recommends but upsets my stomach. But hey, we can agree to disagree! Just want to point out my nutritionist's take for anyone reading this. Thanks for your input!

Thanks everyone. Just a couple of hours after I posted this, I felt like I had a cold. Suddenly very tired, sore throat, stuffy nose. My husband just went to get some Airborne for me. I'm hoping it will pass before the 21st!

Actually, the Isopure I'm drinking IS a powder mix. It's called Isopure Perfect Lo Carb, with whey protein. BJEan, I bought my first container at my local GNC just to see if I liked it, but then I bought 3 more from this site: http://www.bodybuildingoutlet.com/zercaris1.html (much cheaper than GNC, where it was about $50 :puke:)

Can this really happen? :cry I went for pre-surgical testing on Thursday and yesterday received a call that my white blood cell count was a little high (the nurse said 10 was normal; mine was 12). They are going to test again on the morning of my surgery date and if my count doesn't go down, surgery could be postponed. I don't feel like I have a cold, or anything wrong with me at all, but I guess I'm fighting off something. I'll be so bummed if I get another date. I'm going to take zinc lozenges, drink lots of fluids, and rest this weekend.

I like Isopure Zero Carb protein powder. 50 grams of protein, 200 calories, 0 carbs. I've tried chocolate and vanilla, both are very good.

So weird you are talking about pizza! I just came on to post about how I just ate a small piece, no cheese, just lettuce, onion and the crust (it was a veggie slice). :phanvan This was my 2nd day on liquids. So much for my willpower.
