Congrats, you're perfectly normal! Everyone is nervous if they're really taking the surgery nervous. We've all been there! Just focus on why you're doing it and what you'll do when you weight less. You can do this!

    Calling all August Sleevers!

I'm scheduled for surgery August 7th and I am so nervous! I'm doing a revision from failed lap-band surgery 5 yrs ago. Let's all keep each other posted on all the good and bad things associated with this journey......I'M Terrified!!! I am worried because this is a permanent change to my body and I fear recovery, I have read some horror stories about problems after surgery. But I am staying positive and prayerful that all will go well. Most of all that I am making a decision to improve my overall health with weight loss surgery. I haven't told anyone other than my husband that I am having this surgery. I feel like this is my private decision, also I am embarrassed because of failing the first surgery in 2009. Does anyone else feel like me? Keeping surgery a secret?

  5. Only lost 38lbs by my 1 yr. anniversary. Lost more but gained it back, lost my mom, suffered health issues, lacked motivation, etc....but no excuses, NOT GIVING UP! I determined to hit the 100 mark by my next surgiversary in April 2010. Slow and steady wins the race. For me its more like a marathon, just gotta make it to the finish line.

I do very well with the no drinking after I eat rule.....I have always been trained since childhood to wait 30 min. after eating to drink liquids so that you don't dilute the stomach acids needed for digestion. Go figure....as it turns out as a "bander" I will have to do this always, which I was already doing anyway.

I can tolerate solid protein like chicken, fish, steak, etc. as long as the food is moist, and not too much at a time. I find if I eat small amounts very slow and chew thoroughly I do much better. I cannot tolerate bread of any kind and rice (not even brown rice), it causes vomiting. I am scheduled for a fill this coming week. My doctor goes very slowly she will only fill me .5 cc at a time. She tried to give me 1cc once and I was vomiting for a week, I could not even handle liquids. (Lost 5lbs in 4 days though...and gained it right back) Thats when I was slightly unfilled. Then I had to wait a month to try again.

Bunny Bandsters - April '09, MASTER THREAD #1

After reading everyone's posts and seeing all of the success stories I am wondering if I should even bother posting but I here goes it. I was banded 4-14-09 and now 14 months later I have only lost about 40lbs. I have had 5 fills and 1 partial-unfill due to vomiting. Right now I can eat about 1 cup of food slowly but I need to make better food choices. I stay satisfied for 4 or more hours. I find it very difficult to eat breakfast so I pretty much drink my 1st meal until about 11 am. I cannot tolerate dry foods especially chicken, I know I should'nt but I really eat a lot soft foods only because I can tolerate them better. Of course potato chips, cake and snacks seem to go down without any difficulty. I have however, committed myself to working out faithfully 3 times per week and very vigorously, in addition I do weight training with a trainer. Maybe that's why I did have a little weight loss. There are times I want to give up but I promised my mother (who died last summer)that I would do this and I really want to succeed. Any advice April '09 Bunnies, I am not ready to give up. I want to lose 100lbs and I feel I should have so much more by now.

    Friday Weigh Ins

Wow that is wonderful, what an accomplishment Band_Groupie! I am so happy for you, you give me hope. My weight loss is so slow I think it will never happen. But hearing your news encourages me not to give up. Maybe one day I will reach my goal.
  11. 1. WEIGHT- lost 42 lbs since surgery April 14th 2. FILLS- 3 fills 3. RESTRICTION- somewhat 4. RULES- Trying to stick to the rules, but I think I eat too much and too many carbs. 5. ANYTHING ELSE- Can't seem to tolerate dry foods, especially chicken. Exercise has finally become part of my life! I would love to reach the 50lb. mark by the 1st of the new year.

    Friday Weigh Ins

Weighing in at 234 today, also had my 2nd fill this morning. I am now at 5cc in my band. I gained 6lbs. so I am not happy about that but with this adjustment and keeping with my diet and exercise plans I will conquer this battle of the bulge! (I will persevere through the tears of losing my mom.) :sneaky:

Thanks BG, jerseygirl518 and doodlebug11 for the words of encouragement. This is so hard to go through because my mom and I were very close, I miss her so much. But I am not going to let this stop my weight loss goals! Planning to do the 5DPT starting tomorrow to get back on track. (I've gained a total of 8lbs., in less than a month, this really sucks because it will probably take 2 months to lose it!) What can I do to speed things up? Suggestions?

Just checking in April 09 Bandsters....I haven't posted in a while, I had to leave town at the end of July to care for my mom she became very sick with complications from leukemia and she died two weeks ago. Needless to say I have been so depressed I have not paid any attention to my weight loss. I tried to go back to exercising last week and I have a fill schedule this Friday. I gained 5 lbs. and I don't really care. I plan to pull it together soon, she would have wanted me to stay on track. Trying to get back on track!
